Great Throwback Shave. A minute at the Loading Dock. Nice Rembrant paint job on the face&neck. Clean&clear shave all over. 2 passes. Nice close from the Agadir A.S.Agadir was a good choice fpr this Throwback Thursday, as the weather cooled down some. wanted to give it a good sendoff until next fall. Very pleased with today's shave(the way I SHOULD feel for a Throwback Thursday).

 

Friday's action:

No other changes from today.

Today’s shave was my first with my new to me Lambda Athena DLC. Sticking with the Greek theme I went with HAGS for soap and splash.

This gorgeous razor arrived two weeks ago. Today was the first shave with it and I am not disappointed. This really is a work of art not only in looks but in performance. I paired it with a Wizamet on its second use for this first shave. It performed amazingly efficiently. I had a DFS after one pass WTG, even on my trouble areas! My neck and under chin area had not a peep on the first pass. I cleaned up on the second pass XTG this time my trouble spots did a little whining which is expected WTG in those areas so it was an improvement. Did a final clean up in the trouble areas for a BBS. Next shave I’ll try a different blade and see how that performs. All in all this mighty razor carries its reputation for a reason! Top shelf product!

It was also my first shave with this scent from HAGS. The Awakening scent notes are:

Top notes of Peach, Blood Orange, Cardamom and Heliotrope
Middle notes of Rum, Cognac, Davana and Jasmine
Base notes of Indonesian Patchouli Leaf, Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Sandalwood, Benzoin, Cashmeran, Styrax, Labdanum and Vetiver

It is a perfect summer scent! Sweet citrus is the first note I get but it rounds out before becoming too sharp into an ambery, vanilla, soft and warm embrace. HAGS always does scents right and their soaps performance is beyond reproach.

It was a lovely Greek themed shave today for me! And to that there is only one appropriate response:

Two days of excellent and enjoyable Kai/37C shaves

40 swirls on the puck on Thursday: super abundant lather
Held back a bit and used only 20 swirls this morning/Friday: still plenty of lovely tallow lather with a subtle scent, almost nutty to my nose. Absolute pleasure to lather with

The ridges on the timeless bowl tend to aerate the lather more than I would like: need to go slowly....

Almost no alum feedback despite back to back (DFS and some BBS) shaves

I will give the Kai another outing, I think it deserves it

This 7 AM blade has held up well for almost two weeks so I think I’ll use it once more before I change it. The Bombay Shaving Company cream from India has a very nice scent, it lathers so easily as well as thick, it has a lot of slickness, there’s a bit of a menthol sensation, and it gives fantastic postshave care. The matching balm has the same scent and it’s so soothing. The Aqua Velva Sport aftershave smells so nice, (to me!) and I love its chilly menthol punch. Another great fun filled three pass BBS shave - now I’m going to visit my wonderful in-laws and install their air conditioners.

The Old Spice Original Shave Cream lathered well with Jayaruh #446 Boar/Badger Mix Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Ming Shi Adjustable Razor and the Gillette Silver Blue Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Aqua Velva 5 in 1 After Shave Balm. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Hi all,
I had a brilliant late night shave tonight after an early finish on night shift.
What better way to start the WA day long weekend than a great close and very efficient shave with the Apex SS.
Kaleb Aylsworth absolutely nailed it with this DE razor I have not tried the TI version but you can read @Errol review on Paste & Cut if you haven't already.
The Apex SS is one of my favourites and I'm afraid I will have to say it.
I don't have or have tried a Gillette that is on the same level shave wise. (My opinion only)

The Razorock Mudder Focker is a nice soap with good cushioning and face feel with a pleasing scent to boot.
Very easy to bowl lather with the help of a wonderful Troy Craft custom brush fitted with a Muhle STF knot.
Finished of with a generous splash of Layrite Deluxe No9 Bay rum Aftershave.

One pass WTG/ATG no touch ups no nicks Done.....
