Prep: Hot Face Wash with Neutrogena Face Scrub
    Razor: 1941 Gillette Ranger Tech
    Blade: Voskhod (2)
    Scuttle: Dirty Bird 1.5
    Soap/Cream: Top Secret Shaving Cream
Brush: Vie-Long 13061 with knot set to 50mm
    AS: Floid Suave

    Results: Near BBS

Several firsts on this shave. 1. first use of the Top Secret Shaving Cream, nice scent but not over powering, great lather. 2. first use of Floid Suave, again not an over powering scent and didn't linger very long. 3. First use of the Vie-Long 13061 with the knot set at 50mm instead of the standard 60mm. This brush is super soft like lathering with a cloud yet has great backbone. The handle is large and easy to handle. I had plenty of lather for 3 passes and could have done a couple more if needed. The brush had good flow didn't hog the lather at all. Given that most of my experience with horse hair brushes is that they tend to break in over the first dozen uses this brush is well on it's way to becoming my favorite replacing my Rooney Silvertip.

    Brush: Van Der Hagen Boar
Rinse with warm then cold water
AS: Clinique for men aftershave sample

I did a 2 pass shave today. No bleeding or burns. Not quite as smooth on my neck as I would like it to be but I am still learning. I would say it's a pretty good shave. Once I get used to doing this I may get a new razor to replace the super cheap razor I am currently using. I am thinking about the EJ89L.

    Featured Shower and Shave

Lazy start to the day, hit the shower later then usual.
Proraso Glycerin did the honors of facial prep.
While showering the Vulfix 28 was on deck soaking it up.

Featured shave cream Bond. The Vulfix in time had mounds of lather.
Razor and blade change in the line-up, brought in the Black Handled SS, blade choice Topaz.

Three comfortable passes, a liberal splashes of cold water. Facial rub down and toning with RazoRock Alum and a dab of Clubman Veg
    A great DFS.

Everyone have a safe and great holiday. So many have given their lives for the freedom we take for granted. Prayers to those have lost loved ones on the battlefield. Thank everyone who is currently serving and thank you for those that chose to serve.

She was not only used after 60 years in waiting but she is very much loved Lloyd! Absolutely beautiful shave with the Feather blade, close clean and comfortable. This ol'e gal was definitely a "Cabinet Queen"
I checked out the link to the commercial and I really hate to admit this but, ..... I remember this commercial! I was 9 years old in 1952 and to me the Rip Van Winkle theme of that commercial got my attention. I really didn't give much thought to the razor product at that time but I remember Ol'e Rip cutting off his beard! LOL (Which I guess seemed really cool to a kid of 9 years! LOL) I also got the plastic case with operating instructions for the razor along with an unopened dispenser of Gillette Blue Blades still in the celliphane wrapper as well; looks just like the one shown in the commercial! :happy088:

Although I don't remember the commercial (I came along 10 years later, in '62), there's no mistaking the voice of Mel Blanc!

Right Steve! Actually, the commercials back in the '50's were better quality cartoons than the actual cartoons of the day. (Except for the Disney characters and the higher level ones like Mel Blanc's fairs. Bad ones; Re: Felix the Cat! lol) They were entertaining as well as a selling medium. :lyrtuy5:

    Good morning, everyone!

Change of plans, had to shave on Saturday late as I had to be at work today by 05:30 A.M, which suited me fine, I was rather itching to continue playing with the new Futur.

    The set-up consisted of:

    Musgo Real pre-shave oil
    Calani Dubai shave soap
Mühle Basic Nr. 02 shave brush with Silver Tip Fibre
    Alum block
Dr. Alkaitis Organic Soothing Gel after shave

After Friday’s inaugural shave with the Futur on 2, I decided to open it up to 3 for this shave. For the first pass, I lathered up the Calani. For the second pass, I rinsed the face, applied the Musgo pre-shave and lathered on top of that. I also dialed the Futur down to 2.5 as my jaw lines are prone to irritation with aggressive razors. Decided to skip my usual AS and opted for the Alum Block and a mild AS Gel instead as I went to bed after shortly after the shave. Result DFS+

Wishing all of you a great weekend!
