The Rapira blade certainly earned its retirement after 6 days of great service - it gave me a final super-close and comfortable BBS shave. The Palmolive Menthol cream and Alt Innsbruck provided such a fantastic cooling sensation which I love so much. ;) :D

    Tuesday

Soak Brush/Semogue 620/Heat up DB Original Scuttle
    Hot Shower
    Proraso PrePost cream
Arko shave stick grated into Schwarzweisskeramik soap bowl
    Joris 1912T/Astra SP (3)
    Cold Water Rinse
Monster Block Alum (clean hardware and software, police area)
    Thayer's Medicated Superhazel
Floid Blue mixed with a pea sized amount of 444

Nice 2 pass face 1 pass headshave with the Joris,I think I'm gonna move it up a notch and try either a 7 O'Clock Black or a Iridium Super. So far I've gotten great shaves from the Red IP's and Astra Sp's with this razor so I'm leaning toward the 7 O'Clock Black, which is one of my favorite blades.

This is probably my best shaving razor. The shave was mediocre at best (half my face feels great, the other half a little rough). Anyway, I think I have the brushless cream figured out now and look forward to tomorrows shave.

Tuesday Morning Shaving Ritual, May 22, 2012

Razor: 69 Slimline Gillette Adjustable (set on 6)
Blade: Personna Super Blue (new blade, 1st use)
    Brush: Semogue 830
    Cream: Proraso Menthol & Eucalyptus
A/S: Alum Bar & Cold Water Rinse
    A/S: Pinaud Clubman

I started out using the Croma Diamant for the 4th day, but quickly realized that it was way past its prime. It felt like it was pulling each whisker out with tweezers. I quickly decided to switch to a new blade. I picked a Personna Super Blue; this was the smoothest shave so far, no residual irritation. It was amazing; I may have found my go to blade! I got an easy DFS 2-pass shave today.

    BBS!

My exploration of the Limes SC from T&H and GFT was interrupted yesterday with the arrival of two packages. First was a package from ShaveaBuck.com that included some Herbs of Bulgaria and Rose of Bulgaria shave creams. It also included a SABI razor and a SABI stand...both very sharp looking. The other package held a new puck of Calani Dubai from fellow member Smoothy.

Both Bulgarian SCs have a great scent. The rose is even better than T&H and GFT Rose to my nose. It has more of a fresh, current smell than the older, powdery smell of the T's. The lavender also has a great scent to it. I elected to make test lathers of both.

The Calani Dubai...my, my, my....what a wonderful, mysterious scent! I was initially drawn to this particular soap because I have been to the United Arab Emirates a few times, including Dubai, and I absolutely loved my time there. I don't know what I was expecting for a scent, but this scent is fantastic, and very different than anything I've tried before. While the scent didn't not bring back specific memories of Dubai for me, I think the name is definitely appropriate. It does bring up visions of the Middle East for me.

I initially intended on just doing a test lather of the Calani because I'm in the middle of using up my T&H and GFT samples, but once on my face, I gave in and just kept on shaving. The lather was better than I had been getting with both the T&B and GFT creams, providing great thickness and excellent cushion. Loading the brush was perhaps easier than any other soap I've used. It has definitely jumped into my top 5 soaps and after a few more uses to dial it in just a tad better, I could see this getting into the top 3.

Pre-shave: Hot shower, wife's hair conditioner
Croap: RazoRock La Famiglia Zi Peppino
    Brush: Simpsons Colonel X2L
    Razor: '56 Gillette SS
    Blade: Bolzano (3)
Post-shave: warm water rinse, cold water rinse, witch hazel
A/S: RazoRock La Famiglia Zi Peppino
    Moisturizer: L'Oreal Men's Expert Vita Lift w/ SFP 15

    RRLFZP.jpg

I was hoping that yesterday's not so smooth 2nd shave using the Bolzano, was a fluke, but alas, it wasn't. I should have dumped the blade and started with a new one, but I finished the shave with it. After a great first shave I was hoping to like these Bolzanos, but maybe they just aren't for me. As far as the new RazoRock La Famiglia goes, the scent of the Zi Peppino was, shall we say, interesting. I had no idea what green tobacco smelled like, but now I know it kind of smells like, dare I say..............car wax. :ashamed001: At least to me it did. It's not necessarily a bad thing and as the shave went on I could detect some different notes in there. Then as the shave went on further, I started to really like it. It won't be my favorite but I enjoyed it. I used the matching AS/balm and the smell was slightly different, to my nose, and complemented the soap very well. Now that it has been about 3 hours since I used it I am still getting whiffs of it every now and then and I find myself thinking, "hey, what's that smell? That smells good. Oh yeah, that's me!" Have a great day everyone!

2 pass DFS today. For some reason I was having troub;e getting good lather today. First pass was fine but second was thin, and third would't have been able to happen. So I stopped at two instead of pushing it like normal. It's fine I won't be able to shave tomorrow so I'll have a day+ of growth for when my TSD order shows up :happy108:
