With me it's like this, I understand English perfectly. I can read and write it perfectly (I think) but my spoken English is halting and I still have a strong Israeli accent. I suppose my speech has improved a lot because when I first arrived here I couldn't say more than a few words. I remember during the Yom Kippur War in 1973 a couple of German correspondents wanted to interview me in English and I refused because I couldn't put a proper sentence together. I insisted on speaking to them in German, a language I've spoken since my childhood.

With the amount of different languages you understand, you have absolutely nothing to worry about.
If you lived here in the Bay Area, you could make a fortune as a translator.

    Nivea Men Face Wash
    Williams Shaving Soap
    Jayaruh #170 Synthetic
    Gem 1911 Lather Catcher
    CVS SE
    CWR, Asma Alum Block
    Thayer's Lemon WH
    Aqua Velva Musk AS

The Williams Shaving Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #170 Synthetic brush. I did two passes the Gem 1911 Lather Catcher razor and CVS SE blade, and I ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse and alum block, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Aqua Velva Musk AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    Thanks man!

My wife's English has also improved quite a bit. She's now capable of having a conversation. You just have to speak slowly to her and not use slang. Our daughter on the other hand doesn't like English and tries to avoid speaking it which is not a good thing because it's the main international language.

Tonight's shave was with a newly acquired, partially restored, and honed razor. I had a very smooth 2 pass shave, that left me BDBS. Zero issues, only a fantastic shave. This one took a fast edge, that was straight as an arrow.

    Razor- "Hugo Rader 38". Solingen.
    Brush- Zenith Boar
    Soap- Arko/Avon Spicy
    Aftershave- Osage Rub

    Prep: Musgo Real Classic
    Razor: Ming Shi Futur clone
    Blade: Lord Stainless
    Brush: Razorock Plissoft
    Soap: QED Mocha Java

Had a nice shave, cut a slick from the stick and it whipped up a thick lather in the copper bowl. Did end up with a few nicks but overall it was a nice shave.

    Blade: Lord Stainless
    Brush: Maggard 26mm synthetic
    Soap: Stirling Coconut Lime
    Post: Stirling Arkadia balm, LT

Had a fairly nice shave this afternoon. Love the scent of this coconut lime, it has a tropical type of scent that almost smells like a bit of pineapple added to the mix as well but just speculation. Anyways, finished off with Arkadia balm which is nice and soothing. Hope everyone enjoyed their shave.

Well the holiday weekend is in full swing which means I'm working long hours in search of lots of money. Thanks to a round of storms today the money was a bit scarce but we're looking for perfect weather the next two days so I'm getting ready. A 13 hour day yesterday left me with a quick dinner and bed last night without a shave. Only a 12 hour day today leaves me time and a little energy to throw a nice Detente style shave together. The Fatboy and a Rapira SS. Fatboy on 6, my sweet spot, and the JR46 with Soap Commander for the win! Two pass plus touch up is near BBS with very little feedback from the alum. A great shave on a two day beard that sets me up for a busy Sunday tomorrow.

June is just around the corner and life should be settled down so I can be a bit more present around here. I miss the daily shenanigans and shaves. Hmmm. Maybe we should call it the "three S's". Shaves, Shenanigans and Stuff! Hope you're all having a great weekend with family, friends, bbq's, lake visits etc. Let's take a moment, though, to remember what the holiday means and honor those who gave all.
