5/29/15 - First day of summer break shave!

    Prep: warm wash
    Lather: IanS hobbyist puck
Brush: TGN synthetic Burma Shave handle
    Razor: Gillette New LC
    Blade: Rapira Lux (2)
Post: Captain's Choice Cat O'Nine Tails

I took a little extra time this morning and had a 3 pass shave. That must have added a full 30 seconds to my morning routine! The synthetic brush made some fantastic lather on my face and I just kept on enjoying it.

Touched up the razor on a coticule last night, superb shave this morning. I screwed up my shoulder at work yesterday and could hardly raise my right arm high enough to shave with. Have a good one.

Prep - Hot shower and towel
    Brush - Omega Pro 48
    Soap - Arko
    Razor - RazoRock TTO
    Blade - [IMG] (1)
    Post - Alum, Proraso

Wow that was a short night. How can you tell you may be sleep deprived? When you use a Pro 48 with Arko and can't get a good lather! A three year old should be able to get lather with that brush and soap. A monkey hanging upside down flinging you know what at people should be able to use his two free hands/feet to get a lather with that combination. Me? Not so much. And on a morning when I had decided to use a blade for the first time.....and a Lord blade......it's like I was trying to revisit MAYhem!

The result, however, wasn't as bad as I imagined it would be during the process. The Asco blade proved a better alternative than the Lord Platinum, smooth, no nicks/weepers (although I may not be awake enough to be circulating blood yet) and I finished with a very nice CCS on two passes. Better than yesterday. Hope you all have a great Friday! Time to put my car on autopilot so I can nap on the way to work. Those cars aren't going to sell themselves.

Near BBS 2 pass shave this morning. It did require a good deal of touch ups with the blade tired and on its last legs. Mystic Water soap is finicky to lather. It requires a really good loading and gradually adding water as you lather. At last, I seem to have it dialed in with this brush.

I've been traveling and haven't had time to post much...except in The Haul thread :)

Today was an excellent shave with one of my dads old razors. A 2 pass DFS near BBS with no nicks, weepers or irritation.

Bowl was handmade and found in the wild. Razor was dads. Blade used was an Astra SP(1). Everything else is self explanatory.

When I use certain soaps, such as MDC or LPL, I don't feel the need to use any pre-shave oil because these soaps work so wonderfully on their own. Today I used MDC but decided to go the extra step and use some home-made pre-shave oil. The result was outstanding. 4 passes and absolutely as smooth and irritation free as I can hope for.

    Frey's Day:

Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Invigorating Face Wash, TSD Jasmine Sambac preshave balm
    Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger
    Soap: Ginger's Garden Coffee Jasmine
    Razor: Merkur 1904 41c
    Blade: Bic (2)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, XTG (4, 5, 6)
Post: Cold water splash, Bloc Osma alum, Dickinson's WH, Pinaud Clubman AS splash
Cologne: Le 3e Homme de Caron by Caron

Dear Over-Latherers Anonymous, I may have a problem. I get so much lather from the Ginger's Garden pucks that stopping at 2 passes seems. . . wasteful. Luckily, after taking yesterday off from shaving, there was enough stubble to justify a 3rd pass. The prep was good, the lather was great, the Bic is still perfectly sharp, and the Merkur was nimble. Add all that up and it leads to a great DFS+ shave without any bloodshed.

    FRIDAY
My last shave for the next three days. heading out of town to the wilds of Lake Tahoe for the next 3-day getaway.
I decided to use this little walnut-scaled Larkin for this morning's shave. It took some getting used to (the small size), but I still managed to pull a DFS from it!
    Have a blessed weekend, everyone!
