    Barbasol Brisk AS

The Soap Commander Synergy Shave Soap (sample piffed to me by @RayC1993 ) face-lathered well with my Olivewood WD Silvertip Badger brush. It has a nice scent and is easy to lather. Two passes with my Gillette President razor and a Personna Super Stainless blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Rose Petal WH and then Barbasol Brisk after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    SUNDAY SOTD - 5/31/15

Razor: 1958 Super Speed TV Special
    Blade: Astra SP
    Brush: Whipped Dog Silvertip
    Soap: RazoRock XXX
    AS: Barbasol Brisk

I think my technique has improved since my last go-round with a Super Speed. I used it today for a quick 2-pass and was very pleased. Sunday I'll go with my normal 3-pass DFS. The RazoRock is really slick, I love it.

    Chabrawichi 555 Cologne

A funny thing happened this morning - one of my friends called me and said he wanted to try a shave with a Glacial soap, so I told him to bring his brush and razor with him and to come over. He tried my Glacial Lemon Chill soap and after lathering up with it for his first pass he told me "Jeff, are you crazy? How can you handle such freezing-cold stuff?" I told him to be a man and shave with it or else I'd kick his butt for wasting it! Truthfully, this soap is not for anyone faint-hearted because it's really that COLD. I absolutely LOVE that awesome scent, the way it lathers, and the bone-chilling menthol blast it gives. My friend shaved with it really fast because he couldn't wait to get that intensely-mentholated lather off of his face. He found the Gold Bond very pleasant and comfortable, the same way I do but no way would he use an aftershave which is as strong and freezing as the Rubby Dubby Doo, which I love so much! ;) :D

My eyes always tear up something fierce with too much menthol. Do you wear goggles?

No goggles, but I also very often experience tearing eyes and a runny nose when I use the Glacial soaps! (I love it!)

    Shave of the Day

    Saturday Night

    Prep: hot towel, Somerset's PSO
    Razor: '59 Fatboy Adjustable
    Blade: Bolazano Superinox
    Brush: New Forest 2204 Badger
    Lather: De Vergulde Hande
    Shave (setting): 3 passes; WTG (7), XTG (9), ATG + Cleanup (9)
Post: cold water, Aqua Velva Musk

Was having such a good smooth shave with the adjustment on 7 I decided to go to 9 and that'd be better right? Well not terrible just got some weepers.

Hadn't used a Bolazano in a long time, they're a good smooth blade. May use them for a while and order some if I like them.

Once again DVH soap creates wonderful dense creamy slick luxurious lather. It works so well for me I wonder why I keep using other soaps.

But besides a few weepers on the throat, it was a fun satisfying shave.

Mastro Livi K720, 7/8 Full Hollow, Square Point

It was quite a long time since I used this Mastro Livi K720 straight razor and today I thought it was the time to take it out from its olive wood box and to put it at work. I am very glad I did it because this carbon steel is really amazing: smooth and super velvety, it gives a very comfortable shave. I don't know whether it is because of my pre-shave oil - which I like it more and more at each shave - but the result was absolutely impeccable and magnificent. A truly great shave!

I used an old sample of L.A.S.S. woody lavender this morning. This is a good soap that provides enough cushioning and slickness for all but the most discerning shavers. I am not, however, a huge fan of woody lavender, preferring a sweeter and more floral scent. This is not a bad scent, it is just not great for me. 4 passes and very smooth with no irritation, cuts, nicks, or weepers.
