I just completed my first Progress shave and I must say, praise for this razor is well justified! I started out on#3 and found it to be a little too mild and switched to #4. That setting was slap on and produced an outstanding close and comfortable shave. This razor is well worth it's price. I was very pleased as well with the fit and finish of the Merkur Progress. The Merkur 1904 I bought a while back was very shoddy workmanship which gave me pause in buying another Merkur product. I suppose I just got a bad 1904. Thanks Johnny!

I didn't hear of Petra until the mid 90's. The first album I heard was Power Praise. It was then I discovered Christian music could ROCK! (my wife and I started back to church in '93)
Never heard Captured in Time and Space. I'll keep an eye out.
I did see them in concert. They were playing at Great Adventure Six Flags here in New Jersey many years ago. White Heart opened up for them. White Heart didn't impress me. Since then I have picked up a couple of White Heart's early stuff. Much better than what I heard at Great Adventure.

Sunday - it's the weekend! :happy069: Time for the SEs. (yup. missed shaving yesterday :angry032:. But I did get to spend some time fishing with my son :bounce015:)

Prep: Hot shower, soak brush, AoS pre-shave oil
    CD: Third Day ~ Offerings
Coffee: Home roasted, fresh ground Kenya, BLACK
Soap: AoS Cream, unscented, + 2 drops Em's Woodstock EO
Brush: Vulfix 404, The Grosvenor badger/boar mix
    SE: Gem Push Button
Blade: Gem, day 2, 3+ passes
Post: Cold water rinse, ice water splash, AoS ASB + 2 drops M Bomb, Sean John Unforgivable, hand strop blade

    Shave Rating: 5 Blades

Darn near BBS! A near perfect shave.
This was my first time using Art of Shaving products. These came in a sample kit I picked up at the new AoS kiosk at the mall.
I was extremely impressed. The pre-shave oil was thicker than I thought it would be, but I liked it. Although it was labeled as unscented, it did have a faint smell that I really liked. The cream and ASB were unscented, as well, but really had no scent compared to the oil.
There was enough product that I may be able to get another shave or two. If the next shave with this stuff is as good, I may just have to add it to my Father's Day wish list!

    The Futur Still Looks Bright

My Dad was looking at my Futur and remembering the old Gillette adjustables, was suprised at the size but had noticed how I was extra clean late in the day. And this from a man who shaved out of his helmet with cold water, rarely soap in Korea.

I assured him that I too am shocked, but that this will be my daily. Nothing else will do. Three passes, all pleasure, always smooth. I love it and thank eBarbershop for helping me and special ordering it for me.

    Today's Kit

    eBarbershop Preshave
    Razo Rock Artisian Lemon
    Vulfix 404 Mixed
    Merkur Futur-set at 2.5
    Gillette Black Ninja (2)
    Humphrey's Witch Hazel
    TSD ISZ Milk
    Alcolado Glacial
    Nautica Blue

    Another Great Shave

    Wash: Nivea Face Wash
Razor: Merkur 38M for first pass, Gillette Guard for 2nd & 3rd pass
Blade: Blade Man for first pass, Gillette Guard for 2nd and 3rd pass

    Soap/Cream: Lea SC
Post: 5Savages AS (witch hazel, rum, Tabac cologne)

I tried one of my vintage Blade Man blades for the first time and it was tugging like crazy. After 1 pass I had had enough and switched to the Gillette Guard, which does a fantastic job. After getting face irritation from Fume Shaving Cream Soap, I went with a safe, "sensitive" cream to let my face heal up before going back to my GFT and T&H cream samples

    Soap/Cream: GFT Sandalwood SC

    BBS!

I find this blade to be a bit tuggy, but very little irritation and one of the smoothest shaves I've ever had. This GFT sample is rather dry. Even after face lathering for a minute, there were still chucks of the cream that hadn't hydrated yet. After I spread them on on my face and hit them with a wet brush, great lather was forthcoming.

    Futuristic Thursday

Armed with my Futur, I set out to battle a two day growth. I marinated for 15-20 minutes in eBarbershop Preshave. I then took a steaming shower with some Yadleys Lavender.

Next up was my Omega Wooden Handled Brush and some Fraser's Polar Ice. Then a beautiful three pass shave left me a smooth, and a little touch up on the Jaw Line and I was BBS.

Some Humphreys Witch Hazel, Vitos Post Shave, Alcolado Glacial and Nautica Blue and I was set.
