Saturday - it's the weekend! :happy069 Time for the SEs!!

Soap: TSD SOTQ B1 - Winter Pagoda

Post: Cold water rinse, RazorRock rub down, ice water splash, SJ Unforgivable
    'Stache Wax: Haven't decided yet

    Shave Rating: -6 Blades

Yes, you read right. A minus 6! That's how many hairs I nicked out of the 'bars this morning! :angry021
Oh, well. My own fault. The razor was gliding along so smooth (the hone is working great) I got careless. Sure beats drawing blood, though!

Other than that, it was a 5 blade shave. As I said, the hone is doing its job. The shaves are getting more like they were after getting the blades back from Glen. I was afraid I was going to have to send my razors out for another honing by Glen. That reminds me, I have one I need to send him for an initial hone. I'll have to see if my pennies add up enough for new scales, too.

My first time out with the Tet-a-Tet shave cream. It was a little thinner than I had hoped coming out of the tube and slid off my finger into the sink. It is a nice cream with decent glide and a nice amount of cooling. I am not overly fond of the scent, but maybe it will grow on me a bit.

Last nights, Friday the 13th shave....

Trying out the Old School™ soap, so I used 2 brushes and face lathered and bowl lathered, and alternated between the two as I shaved.

The Old School™ soap actually worked pretty well, was easy to lather, and provided good protection. The description of the soap says "Light scented with Jock Soap's Calling Card Bailey fragrance", and a light scent it is, although I can't really say that I am crazy about it.

Overall a very nice 4 blade shave.

First Test shave with the [IMG]

Da Razor: Cleaning-The DD came in today in the mail, I was waiting with much anticipation; I knew that there was a lot of work to be done to this razor so I set out early to clean it up. It was cruddy; so I took the Dremmel and some Flitz and plenty of rags...two hours later it was a different razor, even Mrs HOG was impressed. Cleaned the scales even the inside of the scales were full of muck.

Honing da razor: Well, it was received dirty and dull. For this job I selected the two coticules I own, one of these is more aggresive than the other and since I don't know if they had a noble birth (the vein they were mined) I called them the Arrogant Bastards. I set the bevel with the more aggressive of the two raising slurry, did not count laps; I preceeded to tape the spine and raised more slurry on the aggresive bastard ...lots more x strokes and looking at the bevel under light, then I switched to the more gentle coticule with water only and polished the edge.

Test shave: I almost took my nose off. Just kidding! I had a wonderful smooth shave, no nicks or razor burn...happy, happy HOG.

    Da Brush: Semogue hogs hair
Da Soap: Nomad in shaving mug
    Da Aftershave: Spanish Floid Suave.

    SHAVE ON BOYS! HOG

    Razor: Merkur Progress XL
    Blade: Treet Dura Sharp
    Brush: Vulfix 2234 Super
    Cream: Portman Square Collier Row

The weather here has reverted to cold and rainy. However, this morning's wonderful smooth and comfortable citrusy shave compensated for that fact quite well. I can't control the weather, but I can control the shave!

Prep: 30 minute marinade with TSD ISZ PSB, hot shower, soak brush
Coffee: Home roasted, fresh ground Rwanda, BLACK
    Soap: TOBS Lavender
Brush: Omega 49, the red one
    Razor #1: Segal
    Blade #1: Segal, day 2, 1 pass
Razor #2: Ever Ready (pssst... what's the one with the top that hinges at the front on the safety bar?)
    Blade #2: Gem, day 2, 2+ passes
Post: Cold water rinse, ice water splash, L'Oreal Comfort Max ASB, Curve, hand strop Gem blade
    'Stache Wax: Firehouse Wacky Tacky

    Shave Rating: 3 Blades

I tried the Segal once quite a while back. I remember it giving a lousy shave, but thought I would give it another go anyway. Yup, still a lousy shave. Finished up with the Ever Ready. Better, but a couple of weepers just above my chin. After getting the ice water splashed on and the ASB rubbed in, I was feeling much better. Final result is darn near BBS, but bottom line it was still an overall uncomfortable shave.

    Almost a week

    Bestshave Turkish Horsehair brush
    Mitchell's Wool Fat Soap
    Star 1912 SE razor
    CVS blade (2)

Sixth shave with this brush. After tomorrow, I'll give my one week impressions.

MWF always gives me great results. Add in a can't go wrong razor, and it you get a great shave.
