    Razor - RazoRock TTO
    Blade - [IMG] (3)
    Brush - VDH Boar
    Soap - Marvy
Post - Cold Rinse, Alum, Nivea

The @Linuxguile shave! A couple of quick notes. This was the double random shave that ended up picking a blade that had already been chosen twice, a brush that is on multiple picks and a soap that shouldn't ever see the light of day again, but keeps popping up. Chaos, it's fickle. The razor choice was a first for the month, but it's a poor choice in my book. I have tried to love the RazoRock TTO even with its clear QC issue. It just doesn't seem that the problem with the razor should have an effect on the shave but over time I have decided it does. It seems harsh and more aggressive than you'd think and I've had some pretty nasty shaves with it. Even more than with the 1918 that should be difficult to deal with. Pairing it with a third use Shark? Not a pleasant thought. And, using the rather stiff VDH Boar to lather the incredibly fickle and difficult Marvy........well, this could be a bad experience.

The reality was not as bad as I feared, but certainly not a great shave. I started by keeping the pressure on the boar light as it worked to load. Rather than swirling I just moved the tips of the bristles back and forth rapidly and it seemed to load well and start a lather. I painted it on then dabbed on over that and it looked good. Felt like it always does, which is a bit goopy to me, and smelled like it always does too. Yuck! Grabbed the razor and started the pass and felt the usual roughness this razor produces, only added to by the Shark, which is not a smooth blade for me. I kept the pressure nonexistent and let the razor do the job and finished the first pass just ahead of the lather fully dissipating away. Even with the cold water and adjusted loading technique to try and mimic a floppy brush I didn't get the best Marvy has to offer. Which is to say, not much.

Second pass XTG and I felt like the reduction was adequate for touch ups only so I tried that. One of the problems with Marvy is its drying effect, and I found I didn't have enough slickness to do a quick touch up in most areas. So, I relathered and worked fast to get the touch ups done and even risked a G-slide on the neck. Finished near DFS and called it done. Surprisingly, for this razor and blade, no blood. Unsurprisingly, I shook my head as I walked away wondering what the point of that was. Yeah I got a decent shave. No I didn't enjoy much of it. A "meh" shave, but even barely that. When will it end?!?!?! Oh yeah, at the end of MAYhem.

Tomorrow it's the @ob1page second round shave and probably a shave I need. Ladas, 1949 Super Speed, Tabac, and only the Tweezerman to hold back perfection. A breath of fresh air. I hope.

Hope your weekend is going well. Tomorrow is my Friday and I'm ready for it.

A final thought on today's shave. Considering how the RazoRock TTO has treated me, in spite of my attempts to love it.....I fear the truth must be said.

Pre shave warm shower and 4 drops of essential oils mixture own
    Soap Frost byte PA
Brush finest badger bull horn for Manu Montalvo
Vintage razor M. Jung No. 80 New York grips Ciricote for Manu Montalvo
    AS Aqua Velva Ice Blue
Leaving guard I started to try this soap morbid kind that looks more like cream, since you open the container is filled with the smell of fresh menthol bathroom, I took a pinch of it and frothing in bowl, is very demanding water but generates a foam of good density, start applying on the cheeks and neck to outline beard, a rich fresh feeling that persists after rinsing go I opened up the nostrils, I could not resist and I applied to the chest as a poultice not for they shave are not bad thought but to freshen up, followed by the application in the head that have no fat allows good performance of the razor and good protection, rinse and feel of menthol increases cooling intensely without being excessive or annoying, took the Ice Blue and complete the picture with an excellent match. I liked. Now if with a cool head ready to think clearly.

I enjoyed a new-to-me soap today thanks to a soap PIF! from @aelfred.t.allspa . I do enjoy a good tallow and this one definitely qualifies! Started my shave by face lathering from the Razobrite dish. The Stirling Mountain Man loaded easily, but for my second pass I lathered from a suribachi bowl. Very smooth slick lather, and from only loading once, got enough for a third pass. Very sustainable lather, no dissipation or disappointments. Using a Voskhod blade in a Gillette 195 set to #5 I received a DFS+ with no nicks. The soap rinses easily, and this was a cold water shave. Alum block left no doubts that between a great soap, a fine razor, and a good blade I will be repeating this set up again. A splash of AquaVelva Ice Blue for a fine finish.
    Good shaves to ya'll!

    Hi Friends,

another wonderful shave today with stunning equipment:

Little Tim´s Smokers Lounge // Ever Ready 1912 w. Jürgen Hempel Handle // GEM Stainless // PAV Brush // Alt Innsbruck

Great!!! The soap smells amazing and the lather is absolutely top notch. Easy to whip up and all the other characteristics like cushion, glide and skin care are wonderful. Glad that i got some Little Tim´s soaps.

Now i´m enjoying the classic scent of my Alt Innsbruck.

Have a great time and take care.

    Greetings

Hello TSD - my sunday shave:

    1505.jpg

    - Route 66 Sweeney Todd
    - Whipped Dog Synthetic
    - Mühle R41/iKon Bulldog handle
    - Tüff sensitiv Rasierwasser

Didn't really have to shave today, did it nonetheless, just for pleasure :) Kind of experimental today - just wanted to see how close one pass with the R41 can be. The answer: close enough ;) The WD brush wipped up a nice lather from the Route 66 soap, one pass XTG with the Mühle gave me a DFS. Finished in under 5 minutes this shave left my face about as smooth as a 2-pass-shave with a straight razor (I guess that says quite a lot about my proficiency with a straight :p ). I wouldn't want to shave like this every day, but it's perfectly fine for those days when you are in a hurry.

    Have a great sunday :happy088:
