Mastro Livi Inox "Grifone", 9/8 Full Hollow, Livi Snake Point

Sunday shave, Mastro Livi shave. This is what I usually do on Sundays when I generally have more time to dedicate to my shave. And on Sundays I always use the very best razors I have in my collection and they of course are Mastro Livi razors. Today I shaved with this superb "Grifone" (i.e. the "big gryphon") and it is named like that because it has been made with the very same stainless steel Mastro Livi uses for his Grifetto and, because of the size, he wanted to call it "Grifone". It is a gorgeous straight razor and the stainless steel Mastro Livi uses for Grifetto proves, once again, to make incredible straight razors. Smooth, velvety and keen, giving a close and impeccable BBS shave.

Although this was a completely non-mentholated shave I enjoyed it immensely. Brian Krampert's Bay Rum soap and matching aftershave are two gold medal winners are far as I'm concerned. The soap is so easy to lather - just 15 swirls or so buries your face in some of the thickest, richest lather and the scent is absolutely delicious. The aftershave goes on so comfortably and its moisturizing effect gives a great post-shave feeling. I also find the scent lasts somewhat longer than Pinaud Bay Rum or Ogallala Bay Rum. The Derby blade is officially retired now after giving me one last hoorah! :happy088::happy088:

Last evening we had a family meeting. It was "one of those meetings". The DEs sat on one side of the table, the SEs on the other. We had a frank and open discussion.:duel: The SEs were quite smug in their recent position of privilege :love055: and the DEs were feeling just a bit out of sorts...having been neglected recently :ahem:. Various items were discussed, no unkind words were spoken...just an open and honest discussion.
Ultimately a solution was found: I am going to daily alternate between a DE and an SE razor. :happy096: So this morning I loaded up my Merkur 23c with a new GSB and my Schick Type G with a new Schick blade. Hopefully this will bring calm to the house once more. The final sticking point was: what razor to use today? Who would go first? We flipped a coin and the first shave went to the Schick.
    A great shave this morning.:happy108:

    Razor: Hibco 2 piece
Blade: 1/2 Personna Super in blue wrapper (2)
    Cream: Cremo Original
    Brush: VDH Badger
    Pre Shave Oil: Homemade
    Bowl: Walmart Large Soup Cup
A/S: Nivea Balm/ Brut Splash On

Very nice 2 pass shave. New razor, primarily somewhere between mild and almost aggressive (?). Need more experience. Being a 2 piece razor, I just opened the head slightly and inserted the 1/2 de blade, easy as pie, no problem. A little practice helps. The 1st pass, WTG was unbelievably smooth. The angle was just as natural as most of my other razors. The 2nd pass, ATG same as the 1st pass, without incident. Clean up with a thin, wet layer of lather in
the necessary places (not very much). Being an unfamiliar razor, cannot say BBS, but better than DFS. Satisfied with results. Wish the same for all.

Razor - Gillette 1949 Super Speed
    Blade - [IMG] (1)
    Brush - Tweezerman Floppy Shedmaster
    Soap - Tabac
Post - Cold Rinse, Alum, Nivea

It's a sunny and very cool day in STL. Welcome to our Spring. 90 one day, 40 the next. But, at least the murder count continues to rise. When you're good at something stick with it!!

It's the @ob1page second shave of the month and as you can see above I got a good draw on this one. The Tweezerman brush leaves something to be desired but.....in its defense....it produced a really good lather off of the Tabac. Just loading the brush ended up producing lather that I was able to use and the face lather really worked it up nicely. Given the floppy nature of this brush (it's about the cheapest badger you can buy) I wondered if it would work with Marvy. Then, I shuddered, realizing that I was thinking about Marvy while lathering Tabac. Something is wrong. Very wrong.

The Ladas blade is from my open good tuck of blades. The duds are long gone. And, the shave was absolutely magnificent. I know, I know, not what you want to hear for MAYhem but that's the truth. Two passes. Two minor touch ups. Baby is in the house. Considering it's halfway through the month this was a great halftime shave.

Now, on to Monday which is the second @DDuckyMark shave. And, as much as I'd like to tell him that he pulled the Wildcard, setting up a potential Tiger, I assume he'll be happy with this. I'm actually putting in a request to have random.org checked for tampering.

    Blade - Baili Blue (horrid)
Razor - Soyuz 1 (less razor, more crashed space vehicle)
Soap - Need I say it? Marvy. AGAIN!!!
Brush - Marvy. And that's when I asked for the tampering review.

[IMG] Pretty much sums up my reaction to that draw.

Sheesh. Well, that's the worst I've seen this month. Should be an interesting morning.

Now, that brings us to @Bama Samurai for his second round pick. I shudder at where this may go. If the shaving gods have turned the tables on me, with his influence I may be looking at a concrete ground butter knife with Parkay for the lather. Sheesh! All right sir, my Tuesday fate is in your hand. 1-15 for blade and razor, 1-6 soap, 1-7 brush.
