A little cooler here this morning at 18ºF/-8ºC, but still clear skies and we'll likely see 60ºF/15ºC before the day's done. Wade & Butcher frameback and the eucalyptus Proraso this morning for a wonderful shave. Hope you had a good 'un too and that you have a mindful Remembrance Day as well.

    11/11/2014 Veterans Day!!

Prep: Hot shower with Nivea Face Wash with menthol, home made PSO
Razor: Valet Autostrop, Hamburg Concave Quick Cutter straight razor
Blade: modified GEM PTFE coated SE blade (3)
    Brush: Vie Long Horse Hair
    Soap: DR Harris - Windsor
After: Home made ASB, Aqua Velva Ice Blue after shave
Cologne: Prada - Amber Pour Homme Intense

A comfortable Darn Fine Shave this morning. The Vie Long whipped up the Windsor into a good lather. The Autostrop and the Quick Cutter made short work of the stubble. The AV brought the chill and the Prada will have me smelling great for the rest of the day.

Have a blessed day!! Go out and thank a Vet for all of your freedoms.

shave of the day, Tuesday, Nov. 11, or the manly man
Prep- simple cold water face wash with Yardley Lavender soap.
    Water- cold, as always
    Soap- local artisan Dragon's Blood
    Mug- vintage Marvy
    Brush- erskine
    Razor- Red tip super speed
    Blade- Astra sp
    Rinse- Thayer lavender witch hazel
    Aftershave- vintage Command
    lotion- Score aftershave balm

Well, my report from yesterday recording zero irritation using the Morley razor was a bit premature. Unlike most SE razors, there is no cover or protection from the sharp corners of the blade. I could distinctly feel the corners as I shaved, but they did not seem to be causing any problems. Three hours later, the story was different. My neck was on fire. A mirror check revealed it to be covered in scratches from the blade corners... not skin breaking scratches, but clear pink lines tracing every pass of the razor. I was at the local Hispanic grocer for my Florida water fix, so I picked up a container of the hyper manly shave balm 'Score' which happened to be there. I did not know it existed before today, but I love this stuff so far. Three applications throughout the day cleared up the scratches. The promised 'seductive fragrance' is quite pleasing. And it cost the princely sum of $1. That's right, ONE dollar. Then upon getting home and finding that my vintage bottle of Command had arrived, I knew I had to combine the two. That is just too much to resist. Not one, but two regrettably named products! And I like to'theme' my shaves. It makes choices easier if you are following a larger concept. So one high quality shave later, and I have to say, Score plus Command equals good. I'm sitting here, smooth faced, and frankly, smelling fantastic. I don't know how often mint unopened bottles of Command come up for sale, so I am unfortunately going to have to ration this stuff. But Score, I can go nuts with that.

Happy Veterans Day to all of the members and family members who have sacrificed for those who served. It's an honor and priveledge to wear the cloth of our country and serve proudly. Today has been all about reflecting on the past and remembering those that came before me. I wish you gents a good one...
