I've read that the Avocado has a nice, green, almost wet lawn (in a good way) scent. True?

How something like this ends up in North Dakota is a mystery to me. I picked up a couple of Sheffield razors yesterday. We went out of town so I hit an antique store and picked up this ivory handled beauty, "The Master Razor No. 2". Honed it up last night and had a great shave with it this morning. Have a good one.

    FaTip Grande w/Voskhod Teflon Blade
    Pre de Provence SC
    Semogue 820 Boar
    Dickinson's Witch Hazel
    Nivea Replenishing ASB
    British Sterling Cologne

Love the FaTip with the Ruskie blade! The Voskhod blade is one of the smoothest shaving blades I have ever used. The Pre de Provence SC is delightful with copious lather and a wonderful scent. The Proraso PSC retards the Pre de Provence SC from lathering well so, I skip it when PdP SC is used. And yeah, I'm on a British Sterling high right now; I love that stuff! :D

    Prep: Hot Shower
Face Wash: Nivea Energy Face Scrub
    Pre-Shave Lather: None
Shave Lather: Acqua di Parma SC
    Razor: Merkur 38M
    Blade: Voskhod Teflon (1)
    Brush: Semogue 1305
Post: Witch Hazel/Vodka/Aloe/Glycerin mixture followed by White Musk ASB by The Body Shop

In spite of the name, the Nivea Energy Face Scrub did not energize me or my face. Oh well....

My AdP is a sample in a 1" diameter metal tin, which makes it difficult to load directly so today I took a pea sized gob, loaded it in my brush and face lathered. It worked well but there was one small chunk that didn't spread get incorporated into the lather.

I think it smells like pumpkin guts. That's not a bad thing. Reminded me of great times with my kids years ago carving out pumpkins. I like the smell.

    • Prep: Brush soaking in very hot water, face washed with Noxzema Triple Clean, warm shower.
    • Razor: 1947 Gillette Superspeed
    • Blade: Shark Super Stainless
    • Brush: Semogue 1438 Boar
    • Cream: Semi-Homemade (blend of VDH, KMF, Shea Butter and Menthol)
    • AS: Krampert's Finest Bay Rum
    • Post: Cold Water Rinse, Double Splash of Aftershave
For me the Superspeed is Gillette's finest TTO. Simple, easy to operate, excellent shave, and nice size. I have not used it for a while just because I like shiny new looking razors, and this is very much a user grade piece.

The Shark's have become my blade that I use whenever I want to shave on auto-pilot, as I have yet (touch wood), gotten as much as a weeper from one.

After reading KJ's (TheVez2) recipe for homemade soap, I was inspired and decided to play made scientist. The results are much better than I had anticipated, it has the consistency of Noxzema, lathers like mad, and has a ton of menthol kick. I will need to play around more.

Needed to rush in urgently to work on very short notice, so a fast shower & shave (meeting gcustomers, must at least attempt to look presentable) was called for.

In a new personal best time of about 8 minutes flat, I showered and shaved, the latter with the following set up and 1 pass only:

    Calani Simply Soap shave stick
Mühle Basic Nr. 02 shave brush, Silver Tip Fibre
    Cobra Classic SE razor
    Feather Professional blade (3.)
    Logona Mann after shave

Instead of mumbling and grumbling that my Sunday morning routine with wife & son was interrupted, I chhered myself up with this unexpected opportunity to try my "1-Pass with the Cobra is fine for work" theory. And that 1 quick pass was fine, but I doubt the 'fine' would have lasted for a full work-day length, which for me is typically between 10-12 hours. But since I was only needed for about 1, all was good.

Ugh back from a short notice trip to the field. So, lets see all week it has been:
    Merkur 38C
    Voskhod
    TSD Signature
    Semogue 1520

No A/S, why bother when I only was showering with baby wipes anyway. Nice to be back in civilization again though. WOO!

    Gillette New Standard
    Schick Super Stainless (NOS)
    The Colonel - Best Badger
    MEM Olive
    Sea of Spa ASB

MEM is an amazing shave cream! I love the scent, skincare, and lather. :D

The only problem with the shave this morning is I tried to do a WTG followed by an ATG...yeah...it didn't work so well, but hey...that's what a styptic pencil is for. ;)

Hey Luke, give yourself a bit of time with the New Improved. It is really an excellent shaver! I found it to be less aggressive than the Gillette New Long OC. I found that it shaves very close with no additional pressure required. I also like the way it was quite forgiving with the blade angle. My razor definitely cuts close but if I am careful with the pressure I do not get any irritation. For me this could be a two-pass razor. But where's the fun in that, LOL! I always do three passes but with this beauty, there is almost nothing left after the second XTG pass.

I stole me some time for a morning shave, and since I seldom have time in the mornings I consider this to be a treat.
And whenever I do a morning shave, my choice is always the green Proraso.
    Good stuff.

    Proraso Old Formula Green Soap
    Proraso Green Pre Shave Lotion
    Proraso Boar Brush
