    Wednesday, November 16, 2011 - Today's the day!
    1. Prep: Hot shower; hand strop blade
    2. Coffee: Locally roasted, fresh ground Tanzanian Peaberry w/ cream
    3. Lather: Speick - bowl lather
    4. Brush: Vulfix 2234
    5. Razor: Gem HFT
    6. Blade: Pella SS PTFE coated (3); 3 passes
    7. Post: Warm water rinse; cold water splash; Bio-Oil; Clubman Talc
Another wonderful start to a not so wonderful day. Yet, this is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it. My shave this morning has definitely helped my rejoicing! I'm really hitting a stride with the HFT and I'm loving the results. The Vulfix makes a tremendous amount of lather in the bowl, I just need to keep working on improving my face lathering with it. The Bio-Oil is doing amazing things for my skin too. I'm not ready to give it a full review but coming from a guy who "thought" he had oily skin and is now using oil on his face 2x/day, I think I've had something wrong for a long time. After some more use I'll share a more in-depth exposition on the Bio-Oil.

Shave Rating - Splendidly Sublime. Rejoice, rejoice, and again I say rejoice. God Bless!

Well today was a bowl lather so I had no problem with that. I think tomorrow morning will be my next face lather and I'll be giving the knot a gentle squeeze before loading up with cream.

How would you recommend loading the cream for a face lather? I've massaged cream into my stubble with my fingertips and then used the brush to make the lather. I've put a snurdle (I just love using that word) of cream on the tips and I've opened the breach to place the snurdle there. Besides personal preference, is there one of these that typically mixes the components better?

I think its one of those personal preference deals honestly; with a cream in a tube I just load it off my palm, whatever residue my brush doesn't pick up I rub into the stubble.

Today's Tricks and Tools of the Trade

    Assorted Hot/ Cold Wraps/Soaks
    EBC Preshave
    Vulfix 404 Mixed
    Jm Fraser Polar Ice
    EJ89
    Gillette 7 o'clock blue (5)
    Witch Hazel
    TSD ISZ Milk
    Aqua Velva Ice Blue

I returned to the den today with my normal amount of time, but with the memory of the shorter strokes of yesterday's quick shave.

I was back to my my 3+ pass shave and I loved every minute of it. I realized when I went to right this article that it was my fifth shave with this Blue.

The witch hazel/ISZ Milk/AquaVelva Blue nearly melted my face-what a great feeling.

    I pronounce this 4.5*SHAVE

    Fast Forward to after work...
there's a knock on the door, BRB...

It's "The Fat." Now I have to do a one pass shave to try it out.

    I'm back.

I gave the face a quick wash and put the Milk on straight. I had to make an ever so minor slice in the milk to accomodate the mug, but I was able to put the missing piece all back together again.

I will report more with tomorrow's shave, but all I know is my skin feels spectacular after a brief one pass shave.

Thanx to BullGoose for the fat and blades' quick arrival, and the goodies.

    Keep Shaving = Keep Smiling

This one's just gone off the boil as far as the edge is concerned, my honing has improved but this was one of my 1st really good edges. Hopefully I'll be able to do even better now!

What was interesting is that I managed to bring together a tilt of the head, a skin stretch and scale position to get an angle I'd not previously managed under the neck with my left hand. The result of which was a vastly more efficient XTG stroke, 18 months into straight shaving and still learning!

    Thursday’s shave:

    Valobra Almond shave soap
Mühle Basic Nr.2 shave brush with Silver Tip Fibre
    Merkur 11C open comb
    Rapira (2.)
    Speick Men After Shave

So mild, this Rapira, yet sufficiently thorough in this open comb. I used not to like the blade in cc razors but now, it’s a different story altogether…
