    today's shave
hot water wash with nuetrogena men's invigorating face wash and a washcloth
    Surrey white/ silvertip knot
    maggard chai tea
    Merkur progress(3.5)
    persona lab(1)
    pinaud special reserve
today's shave was nice. the chai tea with it's unusual aroma did nicely. the huge Vietnamese silvertip made tons of lather very quickly. the progress wiped it all away in the passes. leaving me very smooth and comfy. finished with special reserve. my shave is loud today, I'll have to walk tall.
hope y'all did as well, or better.

When I first used Pre de Provence, it was also my first French soap and I thought that it was no better than TOBS or Cella, or any of the other soaps out there. IMHO, there is not an abundance of either cushioning or slickness in PDP. Over time my opinion hasn't changed much. When I started using other French soaps I realized that PDP just doesn't live up to the qualities of MDC, LPL, L'Occitane Cade or any of the other French soaps.

I found a way to significantly improve PDP. What I do is to add about 20 grams of another soap (in this case it is MDC) and about 4 tablespoons of Glycerin to a 15o gram puck of PDP. I then cut this into the PDP and end up with a soap that has much more cushioning and slickness. This allows me to actually enjoy using PDP. Note: "cutting" is the same as you would "cut" butter into flour.

    Slim Adjustable set to 9
    Rapira Stainless blade
    Improved PDP
3 passes and a very smooth shave

Decided to use the Aristocrat today. Also used the AVON Wild Country AS in the brush decanter. DFS result.

OK a side note, does anyone have a razor that smells "metallic" when they use it? I have a couple that do and have noticed that they are usually ones that the finish isn't the greatest on.

    SHAVE OF THE DAY
    sotd86.jpg

    RAZOR: 1953 GILLETTE TECH
    BLADE: BOLZANO (6TH SHAVE)
    BRUSH: EVERREADY BADGER-LON
    SOAP: VINTAGE ROYAL LONDON
    POST: MLS KRAKEN A/S MILK

Had a great 3 pass shave this morning. The Royal London is a awesome vintage soap that whips up a nice lather. I wish this stuff was still in production because this is my favorite vintage soap. This was the last shave with this blade as it was starting to show signs of wear. Finished off with MLS Kraken milk which is loaded with moisturizing ingredients. Hope everyone has a great shave and a great day!

Thanks, JR and the brush is extremely dense (31.5 x 53mm), but with gel-tips and it is a pleasure to use! :)
