SOTD Thursday 11-22-2012 THANKSGIVING DAY! :eatdrink023:

I use this razor on special days and with the wonderful scents of a holiday meal coming from the kitchen this looks to be a great day. It's time to kick back in my favorite chair, pour a glass of Cream Sherry (or two) and watch the football games before the feast. I hope all of you has a great Thanksgiving and realizes just how fortunate we are. To our Brothers in harms way; may peace and happiness be upon you this day. Stay safe!

Good thing I read the posts today before shaving,I almost shaved with the R41 but instead reached for the Red Tip.I had a great and comfy shave,I'm also getting good mileage out of the Black Ninja, still sharp and smooth. One more shave and I'll retire the blade, normally I'll retire after 3 shaves but I'm letting some blades go the distance.

Shave of the Day (SOTD) Thanksgiving (USA) Thursday November 22, 2012
    [IMG]
    • Prep: Brush soaking in hot water, face washed with Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Anti-Blemish Cleanser, luke warm shower
    • Razor: Merkur 33C Head mounted to iKon Bulldog Handle
    • Blade: Shark Super Stainless
    • Brush: Semogue 820 Boar
    • Cream: Proraso Menthol and Eucalyptus
    • AS: Aqua Velva Classic Ice Blue with added Menthol
    • Post: Cold Water Rinse, Double Splash of Aftershave
I received my pillow of Proraso yesterday so of course I had to use it today. I mounted a head from from a Merkur 33C to the iKon bulldog, for me it has the perfect weight and balance and has made it shave more like the HD.

I cannot say enough about my love of the Semogue 820. As you can see from the picture, the bristles have split nicely, so provides a very soft loft, yet sturdy enough to face lather with, if so desired.

Adding the additional gram or so of menthol crystals really kicked up the menthol level in the AV, I just love it!

Remember a day without menthol is like a day without sunshine ;)

Well made it to Thanksgiving an acomplishment of some sort.
Since we are going to the in-laws for late lunch/early supper I held off shaving.
so the pre was got to sleep late made it to 0600 then waited for the sun to come up and took the dog for a walk, he is such a nut that it is fun sort of. He acts like he has never been out side before. He has to stop and meet and greet every tree and bush that we go by and then he has to go back and revisit some. It is sort of like going for a walk with the TV character Mr Monk if you remember him.

Then got to watch a movie on netflix

Then a long hot shower and hair wash,
followed by more hot water on face and AOS shave oil.
MORE hot water and a layer of Proraso pre/post cream
AND THEN TOBS Rose Shave cream
A brand new Sputnik blade in the EJ 89
only two passes WTG and XTG and a little touch up all being very careful on the upper lip which still has a gash from yesterday.
followed up by Nivea shave balm and Old Spice

I still really like the TOBS Rose I got very nice latther and great glide on the blade and a smooth close shave. One to be thankful for and no blood.

Now it is almost 1300 and I guess that I will have to get the rest of the family up and going

Man you can tell that I just washed my hands can't do a thing with them - I keep finding typos all over the place in this anyway finally going to hit post with it as is

Veli, I knew you would enjoy this Pascale stuff. Like its brothers the Vikings, it's guaranteed to be top-quality. I know the cooling is mild, but I can still feel it. Let's call it good enough to be a Level C! :)

Dmitry, it's wonderful to see you again! :)

Oh goodness, what a "turkey" I am - how can I forget. Happy Thanksgiving a bit belated to all my dear friends in the States. :)

    God bless America!

    Thanksgiving Thursday!

    uploadfromtaptalk1353636770770.jpg

It was a lovely shave. I had the house to myself (because I was home sick and everyone was at gymnastics). I went with my MEM today...not the olive, the other kind. I plan on sticking to the Israeli creams this week! :) The two passes went marvelous and the Proraso felt great! Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends!

First off, my belated wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving to all of you in the US!

It is Friday and, although I have to work a wee bit on Saturday evening and more on Sunday, I am still looking forward to nice relaxing mornings with the family and my coffee mug! :eatdrink013:

My shave ritual today was a most pleasant one, the irritation of the last few days has left my face and the shave was smooth as silk, I must say:

    Musgo Real pre-shave oil
    Calani Dubai shave soap
Mühle Basic Nr. 02 brush, Silver Tip Fibre
    Cobra Classic SE
    Feather Professional (5.)
    Bloc Osma alum
    Logona Mann after shave lotion

Wishing all of you a splendid weekend ahead!

Thankful for many things ... way up there is gratitude to those who have given all that I may so undeservingly enjoy so much.

    Way lower in retrospect is:

Second time with the Shark SC blade, and I have to say it lives up to its name and gave me a nasty bite. Fortunately it was not very deep, and I guess maybe more of a nibble than a bite. But it is the first time that I have actually cut myself, and not just nicked me.
Bart from that the shave was pretty good and I got a DFS after three passes.

Very good shave this morning. This is the razor I intended to use this week but a few new purchases got in the way. I have one more razor to put in rotation but it needs to be honed and repinned. I'll do it tomorrow and put it into service Sunday. Have a good one.

No nicks or cuts today, thank goodness - just a nice, very smooth and enjoyable shave. The SuperMax Menthol cream felt so cool and fresh with a really nice scent. The 444 and Barbon contributed to the iciness very well afterwards. I did notice however, that the Shark blade seems to have lost its sharpness quicker than the 7 AM which I used last week. Otherwise, everything was under control! ;) :D
