Hey, that is one nice razor you got there, Lyndon :happy088:;)!

Now, I am intrigued by the bottle of Riesling you've got there. Where I come from (which is a tiny country in the middle of Continental Eurpe), we make most excellent Rieslings, but they usually come in bigger bottles and those are made of glass. We also do like to keep it cool (ice & water in a bucket, but you got me thinking, I have yet to try cooling it with an M-Bomb :innocent ). So, what's in yours?

Edit: Lyndon, I've just read your other post with the Red Tip: Not sure I have mentioned it before but, generally, I do have a small soft spot for Feather blades in my DEs, particularly in the Red Tip. However, variety is the spice of life (in some matters, not all! :rolleyes005: ), therefore I'd changed my 'modus operandi' a few weeks back, loaded a Personna Medical Prep blade in the red-tipped Super Speed and was blown away. On a DE front, that combination outperformed, for me, any other razor/blade combo I have ever had (except possibly the 11C/Feather variation). If you want to try that out, let me know and I'll send you a couple of those Hospital-use Personnas up North to HKG.

In the meantime, enjoy the diving in the Philippines!

Weekend shaves (had to work on both days)

    Saturday:
    Musgo Real pre-shave oil
    Calani Purissima shave soap
Semogue #1305 shave brush, Boar bristle
    Cobra Classic SE
    Feather Professional (6. shave)
    Bloc Osma alum
    D.R. Harris Marlborough after shave

    Sunday:
    Musgo Real pre-shave oil
    Calani Purissima shave soap
Mühle Basic #2 shave brush, Silver Tip Fibre
    Cobra Classic SE
    Feather Professional (new)
    Bloc Osma alum
    D.R. Harris Marlborough after shave

My gut told me on Saturday that the Feather on its 6th shave might be a wee bit tired on the edge and hinted that an extraordinary pre-treatment might maybe have a positive effect on the shave experience. So, while still in the shower I lathered up with the Logona Mann shave cream and let the stubble soak until I was out of the shower and in front of the shave station. Following this up with a good rinse, some pre-shave oil and my usual face lathering ( bliss with the Semogue) guaranteed a nearly tugging-free fine shave. The blade had reached, for my taste, its limits after this shave and out it came.

Sunday’s shave with a new blade was as always with a new blade in the Cobra – smoother than smooth. Nice BBS result in 2 leisurely passes.

I finally got to take the Merkur 1904 OC razor out for a spin. And it was a very pleasurable experience. A very mild and gentle razor, in fact so mild that I could go ATG without problems.
    Very nice :)

    Merkur 1904 Open Comb Razor
    Gillette 7 o'clock Black
    TOOBS - Mr. Taylor
    Merkur Futur Brush
    Proraso Aftershave Lotion
    TSD - Aftershave Milk

Hey there Smoothy, the small "Reisling" bottle contains The Shave Den Iced Sub-Zero pre-shave balm. I found it to be a bit runny and I tended to spill it when I was using the original container. I got the container at the Osaka airport in Japan. The Reisling brand has a very good selection of travel storage items.

Thanks for the offer of the Personna blades. I think I may have some. I bought some Personna blades in Thailand but I am not sure if they are the same. I will try to post a photo of them when I get back. And, I will definitely try the Red Tip with the blades I have.

    Thanks very much,

    Lyndon

Hey there Norseman, I am so glad you had a nice experience with the 1904 Classic open comb. It could be perhaps the best starter open comb razor. Cheers, Lyndon
