    SOTD - No Variation NoVember

The No Variation theme month comes at a great time for me having acquired some new equipment.
I've had only two shaves with this razor in order to choose a blade to use exclusively this month. Also about half a dozen shaves with the soap and brush. So this will be a great month of learning.

    Razor: Mongoose B3
    Blades: Feather Artist Club Professional
    Soap: Saponificio Varesino Manna
    Brush: Omega 31025 Scarlatti Boar

    Three-day growth, three-pass shave (WTG,XTH,ATG)
If first impressions mean anything, 30-days with just this gear will go by quickly.

    Cheers!

Thanks to all TSDenizens for tolerating me this month and one of my other passions. Being part of this site, we all share the passion of shaving. You’ve made me comfortable enough here to share another one. I believe passions are that which make life most enjoyable. I wish you all the delight of life through yours.

“Baseball breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall all alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops.”

Thank you Kevin. I believe the later Aristocrats don't have as sharp of teeth as their older brothers.

Nice Menthol Monday :) The Gada Shave cream provides a nice icy lather and excellent skin care. In my last Stirling order Rod threw in a bag of menthol crystals to add to my aftershave... He warned me that the amount he sent was about 10-15% more then what he adds to the Glacials and to be careful with it...so I very carefully added the whole bag to my favorite Aftershave... Sharp Dressed Man.. It is honestly so frigid it almost hurts to use (in a good way:Animatedfrozensmily:) The cold water rinse on my neck was a warm relief compared to splash.. I may only break out this bad boy on Menthol Monday, but more then likely I will still use it a ton. Hope everyone has a great day/night and a great shave!

I watched it from the 35 yard line in person. The Denver defense dominated the Pack like I haven't seen since the Buddy Ryan era Bears defenses with Singletary at Linebacker.

Prep - Shower / Woods Of Windsor Cedar Woods soap / Pre-lather / 3 min steam
    Razor - Gillette Ball-End Tech
Blade - Treet Platinum Super Stainless
    Brush - Omega 20106
    Soap - Arko
After - Frozen towel / Alum & WH Mix
    Result - BBS

Back on the second blade trial again tonight. As always I use a Tech for the first dalliance with a blade. I found the Treet to be very like the Shark Super Stainless, in so much as the performance was quite mediocre. I needed a bit of buffing after three passes.
As with the Shark, I will use a much more aggressive razor for its second run, perhaps a Fatboy on 9. I still managed BBS without much bother, which is always good.

The Le Coq OC DE mode I have is a rather aggressive razor - to the point where it sometimes doesn't feel comfortable. Unfortunately that's the feeling I had this morning.
It produced a close, nice result but the experience wasn't as smooth as I had hoped for.

    Menthol Monday by accident
Prep: Hot shower, Stirling Preshave soap
Blade: Sheffield 5/8" round straight (whipped dog sight unseen) + Ikon Slant 102
    Brush: WSP Silver tip 22mm
Soap: TSD stick - 2x iced signature
    Post: TSD Iced Signature Milk

I haven't posted much in the past few months, life's issues sometime become more important than posting, with that said, Oct if there was a focus, it was learning to hone. After much trail and error, I think that I've got a few straights dialed in now. But remember, when handling your straight razors, DON'T ACCIDENTALLY GRAB THE BLADE BECAUSE IT'S REALLY SHARP! 2015-10-30 20.33.47.jpg Learned this the hard way on Saturday.

First pass WTG with the straight, normally, I'd go two more passes with it, but today I needed to get to the office early and the suds were running low.
Second pass ATG with Ikon slant. Cleaned me right up. Oct seemed to be a lot of blood shed - becuase of Halloween or my honing learning curve...I'm going with Halloween - yeah - that's it!

All of my hollows I can hone up nicely, I'm still haven't figured out the right stuff for my two wedges yet...maybe I need to lean on the collective brain trust here...
    Cheers,
    Eric

Razor: Gillette Executive Fat Boy F-1 1960 (7)
    Blade: Personna Platinum (2)
Brush: Fendrihan Silver Tip Faux Horn Handle-22/49
Soap: TSD Iced Irish Spring type
    A/S: Myrsol Extra Fine

Another great shave. This brush is exactly the same as my Fendrihan Silver Tip Black Faux Handle 22/49, however they are totally different brushes. These brushes react completely different to the same soap. Can't figure it out. Back to the drawing board. Have a good night.;)

I can't get my wedge sharp either, it's going to a pro when I get a chance to send it.

I'm really loving my Polar Vortex soap which I recently bought - its lather is so easy to work up that it's almost sinful. The scent is not strong, but it's very nice and clean. The menthol power is just one step down from the Glacials, and the cooling lasts for a while. This soap also leaves the skin feeling very smooth and comfortable. The Lucky Tiger a/s cream smells a lot like Noxzema, and it's also rich in cooling and soothing. Brian's Frostbite aftershave is an absolute delight, as well as a menthol atom bomb! ;) :D
