    Consecutive Daily Shaves - # 1,108

We've just made History here folks. Last time I used the completely same setup on consecutive days was back in 2007 when I only had my Col Conk Lime soap and whatever razor/brush I had then.................hey I'm old and can't remember. I will say that this must be the V2 One Blade as I am getting a good shave. In fact today's was stellar in all respects. The soap, the brush and the razor all performed admirably and left me where I wanted to be. I do read a lot about short blade longevity with these Feathers and wonder if the V2 is able to take a despined Gem blade? Also wondering if it requires any snipping anywhere on the blade besides the despining. If a modified Gem will work I can see this staying in the den. If @Tedolph is still round, he should sleep better now :D The Brush Definitely stays and the soap is good enough to stay too. A winner of a day and ready for some variety tomorrow now............I'm kinda sick that way with the need for some changes. New pic taken just for that reason. Thanks again @jluc and @jtspartan Have a stellar day Everyone !

SOTD FRIDAY MORNING, NOVEMBER 19, 2021

Wilbert Cutlery was a house brand used by Sears Roebuck & Co. for their upscale knives and razors from 1908 - 1921. Sears developed a reputation for well-built quality tools that started with the Wilbert Cutlery brand and later transferred to the broader “Craftsmen” brand of tools which first appeared in their catalogue in 1927. The brand was finally acquired by Stanley Black & Decker from Sears Holdings in 2017 for that very reputation.

The razor I shaved with this morning is the Wilbert Cutlery ‘Regal’ model. Friends who owned this particular model extolled its edge-holding and great shaving effectiveness. My friend Sean (@Purvis) introduced me to the model about a year or so ago with one of his beautifully photographed SOTD images featuring it. Sears offered personalized name engraving on the blank side of the ‘Regal’ blade. Since I was already well down the RAD rabbit hole at that time, I began my search for one in decent condition.

Sears sold a lot of ‘Regal’ model razors as I discovered, many of which were in very well-used condition. After over a year’s search, I finally found an unengraved model for $19.99 with free shipping on the big auction site from a reputable seller that looked to be in decent shape. I won it as the sole bidder, and it arrived yesterday. The scales were dirty, but cleaned up with whitening toothpaste. The blade was tarnished, but no rust was evident. A little Autosol metal polish cleaned that up nicely.

The razor appeared to possess a serviceable bevel under the USB microscope along with some minimal spine wear. The Naniwa 12k with a finish by the 9 Ball Slate soon had the blade popping styrofoam all along it length. I always do a first mug shave with my regular MWF shave soap. I grabbed my MrEE LE #005 Aluminum handled SynBad knot and built the thinner, slick lather I enjoy for my mug shaves.

And what a shave it was! This beautiful little full hollow belted out the “Buttering Toast” through all two and a half passes leaving me dolphin smooth as a good Scot shave buddy likes to say. There’s no doubt in my mind that this little razor was well-cared for over its century or so of use. Originally a 5/8, it comes in now at about 9/16. This little razor’s a keeper that delivered a spot on inaugural mug shave!

Returning to my shave bowl I proceeded to whip up the thicker, more yogurty MWF lather I like for my dome shaves. Fine Accoutrements is better known for their shave software rather than their razors, although their little $40 aptly named “Marvel” safety razor is the exception. While I ditched the original handle for an IB ‘Barber Pole’, the angled safety razor head design never has failed to deliver an awesome two pass ATG dome shave as it did this morning. I feel refreshed, clean and supremely velveteen from noggin to shoulders.

RAZOR: Wilbert Cutlery Regal 9/16 (Mug), Fine ‘Marvel’ Safety Razor (Dome)
    BLADE: Kai DE (4)
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: MrEE LE #005 Aluminum Handle SynBad Knot
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Thayers WH. Finished with Aqua Velva 5 in 1 AS Balm

Friday morning’s Custom Made Mega Grand Freeze:

    Stirling Mentholated Pre Shave Soap
    Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole
    Super Speed/Minora day 10
    MSC Wintergreen SS
    Stirling Glacial Wintergreen ASB
    MSC Wintergreen AS Splash

There’s no other way that I can describe this Wintergreen soap and aftershave but so frigid that they’ve both passed the Stirling Glacial Wintergreen and all the other Glacial soaps and aftershaves. This soap is tallow based and the scent is exactly like the Glacial Wintergreen, (it’s so beautiful!) the lather whips up so thick, rich, super slick as well as protective, the menthol sensation is totally insane, (in a good way of course!) and the skincare is perfect like all of Fernando’s soaps. The Glacial Wintergreen balm delivered such wonderful moisturizing and soothing along with its own special freeze - the scent is as lovely as Fernando’s version, and the Wintergreen aftershave went on so cold that my eyes started tearing - this stuff is witch hazel based so there’s no burning or stinging. Another unbelievably great BBS shave!

Have a good weekend - be well and safe!

The 3P Shave Soap lathered well with the Semogue 1305 Boar Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Raptor 3D Razor with a Personna GEM SS PTFE Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Lustray Spice After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Coniferous and Conifere are quite similar, and not just in the name itself(although the name itself gives you a hint of what's in them).A few years ago during a trip to Colorado, I complimented my nephew on his aftershave and he said pine and pine needles were the main ingredients. He could just as well have said "Thanks...it's Stoylin Coniferous", but it was some other name.

Razor: Yaqi V2 Excalibur AC 50mm-Mfg 2021> great design for a tame mid range, small parts to handle, easy to roam the face. Very enjoyable razor for myself to use. You do have to adjust the top cap for alignment to the safety bar because they designed it this way because of issues with V1(No big deal for myself). Lay wash cloth to assemble & disassemble small parts.
Blade: Schick proline P30 (2) sharp & smooth blade with reasonable longevity.
Soap: Italian barber Amici, nice mild scent(grapefruit & other mild scents) + excellent lather qualities.(misted)
Brush: Yaqi 22mm, 2band badger- excellent lather generator, pillow like soft tips, designed to be a excellent scrubber, good lather painter. This little brush will surprize people who like scrubbing with short loft and knot density.
Pre shave: Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser + a dollop of clear Aloe Vera gel on the cleaned beard area.
Prep: Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups.
Post shave: Italian barber AS with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizer lotion(balm) + scentless
    Results: CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers= [IMG]Excellent shave with my Yaqi V2 Excalibur 50mm with a Schick P30.
