Monday

Prep: wash face with Kell's Hemp/Aloe Unscented stick
Soap: same
Brush: Omega Imitation Badger
Razor: Merkur Progress
Blade: Iridium (4th day, starting to tug a tiny bit)
A/S: Kiss My Face unscented moisturizer rubbed on my face while still wet after cold water rinse.

Excellent shave. Three passes with touch up. Exactly the routine for the past 3 days. I'm pleased that avoiding all fragrances on my face for several days is making a difference with the rosacea! I see the dermatologist for a follow up on Friday.

Does that mean I can't ever use Tabac again?!

Here are the fragrances I have tried so far, more or less in order of how badly they affect my face (worst first):

1. Omega/Proraso in the black tub
2. Proraso Green Tea and Aloe in the white tub (this surprised me, but I see that it has menthol)
3. Tabac
4. Palmolive stick
5. Spieck stick
6. Cremo cream
7. Kiss My Face lavender
8. Kell's hemp/aloe fragrances (almond, spice, energy, amber)

I have two unscented soaps at the moment, Kell's hemp/aloe in a stick and Em's glycerin in a tub. I've seen a difference in just a few days when I use unscented soap and after shave lotion exclusively.

A few weeks ago the dermatologist looked at my face for about 30 seconds and announced that I had rosacea, which wasn't a surprise since I've had the same issues before (about 10 years ago). She gave me prescriptions for Metrogel and an oral antibiotic. It's not a terrible case, but I have persistent red spots on my cheeks and forehead.

Before starting traditional shaving at the beginning of this year, I had settled on Aveeno shave gel for sensitive skin with disposable razors. It was boring, but at least my face cleared up.

I would be delighted to find that there are essential oils that would be tolerated or even beneficial!

One of the nicest shaving experinces I've had in a while!

The Rapira Platinum Lux blade has been impressive for the 2 shaves I've used it, combined with the Menthol blast and swinging sounds of the Andrew Sisters, and I'm going to give this shave all 5 blades!

 

Literally speaking ! Florida Water is very old school, when searched it has very many uses, from holy water to treating insect bites, it is actually a cologne ! Gives that old school scent of a 1950's BBS, just like Pinaud Clubman A/S lotion does. Love these two old scents, everyone should have these two in there collection.

 

Did you have Rum and Coca Cola for breakfast?

 

Half of that combo at least.

Well todays shave with the Slim adjustable, with 3 passes and touch-up @9, is closer than any barber-shop shave I've ever gotten, and still with NO irritation...Thats the thing...no irritation...And the Chin quite polished...

I think it says something about these Rapiras...Sharp enough to give great shaves in 2 passes with a 40's style Super Speed, and still smooth and forgiving enough to give irritation free shaves with the Slim adjustable, set @9 for 3 passes-plus,compleat with razor buffing...

Looks like the Gillette Slim Adjustable/Rapira combo, is another classic duo...
