Friday Prep: wash face with Kell's Hemp/Aloe Unscented stick Soap: same Brush: Omega Imitation Badger Razor: Merkur Progress Blade: Iridium (2nd day) A/S: Kiss My Face unscented moisturizer rubbed on my face while still wet after cold water rinse. Excellent shave. Three passes with touch up. Exactly the routine for the past week as part of my experiment trying to calm down the rosacea. Today I went to the dermatologist for a follow-up. She was pleased with my progress and very much approved of my gentle fragrance-free approach in addition to the Metrogel and the oral antibiotic.

Lloyd, in 2005 I was in Istanbul, because I went there on a business trip. There was a barbershop perhaps 1 block away from where I was staying. I went there, because I needed a haircut, and at the time, I was needing a shave, because I had forgotten to do it in the morning. The barber was a very nice gentleman of around 68-70 years old, with a wonderful and gentle hand, and he gave me a fantastic shave, as well as a great haircut. He prepped me very well, he rubbed an Arko stick all over my face and neck, brushed on me the lather, and shaved me so closely in 3 passes with his straight razor, that not even 1 trace of beard stubble could be felt. He then gave me a super-relaxing massage, and splashed on me this Pe-Re-Ja cologne, which smells of lemon, and is very, very nice and refreshing. He noticed my gold chain with a Star of David on it, and he asked me in Hebrew if I could speak it. When I told him in Hebrew that I am Israeli, and I do, he hugged and kissed me on both cheeks! It turns out he was Jewish, and he invited me the next evening to his house, which was behind the shop to do Shabbat with him and his family, and the following morning, we went together to the synagogue. This was once of the most wonderful and enjoyable experiences I have had during my travelling!
Great stories Lloyd and Jeff! It's really great how the simple love of shaving can open our lives to these kind of experiences in foreign lands, meeting and fellowshipping with interesting people. Outstanding! Enjoy the memories my friends!
Shave Of The Day ~ November 12th Hot Shower Vintage Rubberset Brush Ogallala Bay Rum Soap Star 3 Piece Razor Rapira Platinum Lux Blade ~ Day 5 Thayers Witch Hazel/Osage Rub Blend Aqua Velva Classic Ice Blue Second time using the very strongly scented OBR soap, took me 2 tries to get the right water/soap ratio, and on my third pass I started to experience some burn from the soap. 3.5 blades
That story reminds us of the beauty we can still find in our world...Its easy to forget that it still exists....Thanks for sharing that with us, my friend.

First DE shave! I have been practicing my lathering skills for a week or so while waiting the arrival of my '53 SS TTO (sounds like a hot-rod) and it came today. So... Hot shower while everything got nice and warm in a sink of hot water, JM Fraser cream Above mentioned SS Derby Blade (hand stropped, I think) Vulfix brush Thayer's Lavender Witch Hazel Victoria Lavender luxury skin cream (locally made, incredibly light and contains aloe, spring water, EO of lavender, evening primrose, ylang ylang, sweet almond oil and vit E). Nice stuff. Splash of Old Spice What a great shave! It took a few strokes to get the feel but as soon as I loosened my death grip on the razor, things improved dramatically. I look good and smell great right now. After I was done, my 16 yr old son asked me about it and before you know it, he was lathering up his face and shaving with a razor 40 years older than himself.
:signs107 Great job, both on having a good first D/E shave, and for taking the time to teach your son! :happy096

So these 2 creams are my favorites. This shave was so wonderful, with gentleness, comfort, and lots of cooling. The scent of this cream and balsam goes very well with the Monsieur Givenchy eau de toilette.
Saturday Vintage Old Spice Soap Vulfix Badger Schick type O injector Pella blade (4) I really like the soap. Thought the Old Spice smell might be too strong, since my favorite scent is "unscented", but perhaps it has faded over the years. It's at a reasonably unobtrusive level, and the lather is fantastic.
