SOTD - WEDNESDAY 11/11

A little late to the party on this one...

RAZOR: Pre-war Fat Handle Tech (triangle slots)
Blade: Astra SP
Brush: Strong Set
Soap: Maggard London Barbershop

I realized that I've never shaved with this razor even though it's been on the shelf for quite a while. I've heard that Tech's are mild and this proved that what I've heard is true. I seem to struggle with extra-mild razors. I did a normal 3 pass shave and then added a 4th just to catch up. The result was an acceptable DFS, but it was way too much work.


Finally, a late contribution for Veteran's Day...my grandfather and his two brothers during World War I.

The only good thing about getting a bad shave at 4 PM is you get to shave again the next day at 6 AM. Woo hoo!

The Brain Freeze is inaptly named; C.O. Bigelow gives a colder shave. But BF lathers effortlessly and sets the foundation for a great shave.

Yesterday, with a Fat Boy set on 3, I had a dozen weepers. Today, with a Red Tip, I had one weeper. Go figure.

 

Great pictures. The women of that day, including my mom and step-mom, had a classic beauty that simply can't be matched today. Thanks for their service.

 

What a face-freeze I had from the Glacial Wintergreen trio and what a great BBS shave!

Definitely the last day with this blade. Lather was as good as ever, but the blade was clearly dull by partway through the second pass. This, as much as anything, contributed to a shave that barely hits my markers for DFS. That's okay, as 5 days and 14 passes is generally pushing a Bic quite a bit.

Thanks guys. I just noticed it says "Paris 1918" on the back. It's the only pic our family has. My grandfather died a couple years after the war (when my mom was 2 ) from complications from getting gassed.
