Well this is just getting plain boring. Two passes to a DFS with no blood or other incidents. What's the point in that, right? Seriously, two great shaves in a row with the beast. It's feeling less a beast and more a well made precision tool that does what it's supposed to if you know even half of what you're doing. I'd love to tell you all about the drama of using it, but there just wasn't any today. Now I'm nervous about tomorrow...after two days of no problems it could be a rocky one in the morning!

So, since the shave was good here's a bit of fun from the day.....met the son of one of my old college frat bros from Baker U today. He had moved here to the Lou a few months ago and I happened to have his house on my sales list this month. I finally put the last name together with his dad's post on Facebook about the house he bought in the Shaw neighborhood here. So, what did I do to welcome him? Why posed as a law enforcement official of the federal type, of course, showing up on his door asking questions about his dad, where he was, had he received any packages etc., when would he see him, did he know anything about his business.....kept him and his lovely wife totally on the hook for a good six or seven minutes stuttering and trying to absorb that the feds were hunting his dad. When I let him off the hook and told him who I was the kid busted a gut. My guess was right...he's a chip off the old block and he was going to continue the charade to his dad when he visits from Kansas this week until letting him know who started it. Talk about long odds of meeting an old buddies son you've never met in such a random way. All in all, a good day after a good shave!

Yeah they have no sense of humor. I used a totally fake agency name though....if you say anything fast enough and serious enough people will buy it. lol. Politicians have been proving that for years.

    Good evening folks, today's SOTD as follows;

1918 Gillette US Army Ball End Old Type.
Vintage Gillette Red & Black Thin Blade.
    Kent BLK2 Badger Brush.
    Proraso Blue shaving cream.
    Proraso Blue AS Balm.
360 Red by Perry Ellis cologne.

Another perfect shave, brought to me by Gillette. I am always awed in the presence of greatness by these old Khaki sets. I can't help but be reminded of the struggles the owners of these sets went through. WWI was a very brutal conflict. Between the mustard gas, and the large calibre gunfire, these Hero's fought through trenches and bunkers and adverse weather and terrain, and won a very hard fought victory. Truly, men among men. It makes me proud to own these razor sets knowing they were owned by such men before me. God rest their weary souls.

    Shave of the Day

30 Day Focus Group - November, Shave 3

    Prep: hot shower, Somerset's PSO
    Razor: '59 Fatboy
    Blade: Feather (1)
    Brush: Rubberset 400-4 Silvertip Badger
Lather: The Strop Shoppe Black Tie with Tallow
Shave (setting): 3 passes; WTG (6), XTG (6), ATG (4)
    Post: Alum, L'Occitane Cade ASB

So if selected yet another blade from my order of 50 Feather blades I got a few weeks ago, two blades out of one pack were both junk. Selecting from another pack proved to be a winner, I had a sharp smooth blade. Great shave, got a little too carried away with touch ups so I'm feeling a little sore but no blood and more importantly I practiced good technique with is what I'm focusing on this month.

I love my MITA soap - what rich, slick lather it gave me along with its delightful citrusy scent, and the menthol effect felt great - less than the Glacial level but still strong enough to satisfy me 100%. The Lucky Tiger a/s cream was a terrific buy from Italian Barber and the Alt Innsbruck completed a fantastic BBS shave! :happy088:

This razor reminds me of a Grelot to a degree. Excellent shave this morning. The MT Indian flavor was very nice, I'd say the prominent scent is lemon grass followed with a menthol feel. It's a too little soon post shave to comment much on post shave feel but my initial impression is favorable. A couple of hours will tell the tale. Lather was not an issue, very nice. Have a good one.
