    Thin Cap Old Type
Chinese Gillette Super Blue Blade (1)

I picked the Thin Cap OT for today's shave as it is the oldest Gillette that I own. I received it recently as part of a lot with a Slim Adjustable. To be honest, I was a bit intimidated by this razor as I understand the characteristics to be a bit different than the Thick Cap OT I'm used to.

The blade was chosen for one reason- it has a picture of King Gillette on the wrapper. I had a single one which came packaged with a Chinese Gillette razor (same Tech variant as the Sterling). I had read some good reviews of the blade, but lots of comments about how hard it is to find non-counterfeit ones in the West. Still, this is the end of a week that saw me try both the Tiger 3H (worst blade ever) and the Derby, so how bad could the Gillette Super Blue be in comparison?

As for the shave... The feel of the razor and blade was different than what I was used to with my other OT- much more of a feeling of just a handle and a blade, no noticeable pulling or tugging. In the end, I did my usual one pass with nothing fancy and no additional cleanup. I would consider the result a close shave, though not necessarily a comfortable one as there is definitely irritation on my neck and in other small spots, no blood though.

I've moved to blade to my Slim Adjustable for tomorrow's shave as I'm curious to see how the blade performs in a milder, more familiar setting. As for the Thin Cap OT, I really prefer my Thick Cap one, so I'm not sure when I'll get back to it; perhaps I'll PIF it at some point.

I was going to ask if the BRUT was reformulated in some way, but if it reminds you of your dad, perhaps not

    SHAVE OF THE DAY SUNDAY
    20151115_110327.jpg

    Prep: Gustafsons woodlands
    Razor: Gillette superspeed flair tip
    Blade: rainbow (2nd shave)
    Brush: omega s synthetic
    Soap: dapper dragon signature
    Post: F&C Capri

Had a good 3 pass shave this morning. Dapper Dragon made a nice lather that was slick and protective. I have an easier time making lather with synthetic brushes than a natural hair brush. The Rainbow Blade has been working out well so far. Finished the shave off with Folsom & Co. CAPRI for a nice post shave. Hope everyone has a great shave and a great day!

Had a shave this morning with my new B3 and a fresh Feather Pro. I haven't used the razor since it came in since I have been working with the injectors this month. Fantastic shave it is almost 5 o'clock and my face is still smooth! image.jpeg

Razor - Feather SS AC Pain Stick
    Blade - [IMG](5)
    Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat
Post - Cold Water, Alum, Nivea

Lazy Sunday around here today. Got up this morning, made breakfast (breakfast burritos with bacon and banana nut muffins), had a nice leisurely shave and went for a long walk around the Busch Wildlife Conservation area. Just realized I haven't posted yet. But, it's our last really nice day before the monsoons roll in for a few days. Hard to believe we're halfway through NOVember. Fifteen days to go.

Sunday means two shaves, head and face. The past couple of weeks I've dared to use the Feather SS on the sides of my head above the ears and suffered no problems. So, let's do it again, shall we? In fact, let's work closer to the ears and even around the back just a bit. I mean, what's the worst that could happen, right? Started on the right side like I have been. VDH Deluxe soap and boar brush and took about 2 strokes with the Feather and set down a bit wrong. Yep, there's a slight problem. Not a big deal just a small cut. Not even too much blood. Let's continue. Finished the right side above the ear, worked down just to the top of the ear and then moved further back and did a couple of strokes behind the ear. No further problems. Went to the left side, worked down the side, into the top of the ear and, as I was picking up to take another stroke I slid the razor just a tad. The effect has a golf shot named after it. Slice! Again, not horrible. Just enough to create a little trickle. Ok, still nothing horrible. So, on to the same area behind the ear as the right and call it good. That's enough of that. Two minor problems, both seem to have stopped bleeding, mostly, so let's go to the Merkur 23c with Astra SP to finish the back. Picked up the mirror, turned around to lather and saw the one I didn't feel. Just as I had set down behind my head on the left side I apparently went to steep. Nice blood trickle. Wiped it off, seemed to be slowing so on we go. Finished the head shave with the Merkur and checked the three problems areas and they all seemed ok. Well, not perfect by far but at least I covered more area and am still walking. And some of you thought I was crazy for trying it a couple of weeks ago.

On to the face and it was a great two pass as I have been having. Two days growth of beard so I took my time with longer strokes and repeated them to get the reduction. Finished with a nice DFS. Probably the best I've accomplished so far. Alum was fairly quiet except for where I applied it to the dings on my head. Yeah, ouch. I'm definitely seeing this razor as more of a legitimate shaving tool than a fearsome beast these days. Nice to feel that much in control but I do remind myself to not lose focus. All it takes is a slight lapse in concentration or technique and Whammo!

Hope your Sunday was as relaxing as mine! Who's joining me in using the Feather SS for a head shave this week? Come on, you know you wanna!

I don't often refer to my shaves as BBS, however, todays shave has to fall under that category. This is a great razor blade combination. The soap and after shave only added to todays excellent shave. Can't get any better than this.:happy088::happy088::happy088:

No idea if its been reformulated or not. Its not the actual scent of Brut but the "drugstore aftershave of the 70's" scent that reminds me of my dad shaving as a kid. It was usually when my parents where going out, that my dad would shave a second time in the evening and slap on either Brut, Aqua Velva or one of the others from that era.
