  4. After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

    Shavemac 22mm silvertip
    vintage Hoffritz slant/Iridium
    J Peterman SC
    Muhle Aloe Vera AS
    TGQ 'Leatherneck' extrait

I recently picked this razor up and tried it this morning. I've used one other slant in the past(vintageDovo), and figured I'd give this one a shot. This is the version with the white painted handle.

I found myself having to go very slowly, paying close attention to the way the blade's presented to my face. I felt the blade more than I like, but that's a part of aggressive razors I've come to expect. I could tell there was zero room for technique error, and made sure to concentrate on each stroke. Because of this it took an extra couple of minutes to finish, but this razor can't be rushed along on it's way.

Talk about a close shave though.......whew. I can certainly see why this type appeals to so many members, but it's just too tough on me to use very often. Heh, it's sad there's no adjustable slant being made. Of course I've said the same thing about open comb types as well.

An extremely close, but not very comfortable shave this morning, leaving BBS results,

    Martin

    Lubriderm unscented moisturizer
Nesher Man-AS (from Israel) :anifrozen :anifrozen

My first time shaving with this Bic cream, which I received from a very Extraordinary guy in this Group. Nice scent and lathers very richly. The Nesher Man aftershave is as cold as Iced Subzero aftershave balsam, and smells a little like Mennen Skin Bracer Original. This shave was very satisfying! ;) :D

Great shave, really great shave. I've gotten 4 shaves from this razor this week and I must say it has renewed my faith. Prior to this week, my SA was the buck toothed, red headed step child of my rotation. After this week, I'll look forward to shaving with it next time. It really has delivered spot on shaves all week. The Iced Sub Zero was of course outstanding as usual. I most often prefer Aqua Velva Classic but occassionally when in the mood I'll pull out the Iced Sport. When I do I always seem to wonder why I don't use it more often.

    Sunday Morning:

Hot Shower/Proraso Glycerin Cleansing Bar/Hot Towel
    1953 Gillette 40's Style SS
    Swedish Gillette (Shave #2)
    C&E BBB
    Proraso SC
    Proraso A/S
    Vaseline IRML Lotion

My first day back at it since Monday. All of my irritation had subsided and I figured it was safe again. So, I went with my most fool proof set up. It's nearly impossible for me to have a bad shave with Proraso. I'll probably stick with this gear here until I can get my neck issue taken care of. I went with a North/South pass using very light and short strokes at the top half of my neck. Didn't experience any problems. Then I went with a South/North pass on the bottom half using the same technique. BBS on my neck is impossible but I have always known that. I think today went pretty good. Irritation free, so far. Most of you know that my irritation doesn't show up until the day after the shave usually. We'll see how it goes. Thanks to all of you that contributed help on my "Neck Problems" thread.

    Razor: Merkur Futur on 1.75
    Blade: Iridium Super
    Brush: Rooney 3/1 Super
    Pre-Shave: Kell's Original Turkish Mocha Pre-shave Soap
    Soap: Institut Karite
    A/S: Pre de Provence ASB

The Institut Karite soap performs much like a tallow soap despite its lack of tallow. The Rooney 3/1 whipped up plenty of lather and I enjoyed a great shave. I decided to pair the Shea Butter of Institut Karite with the Shea Butter of PdP ASB and all I can say is, "WOW". Very nice!

    Good Sunday morning all...

    '73 Superspeed w/ 7a.m. (2)
    Semogue 1305
    Mem sc
    Thayers Original WH w/ aloe
    Nivea extra soothing a/s balm
Creed Bois du Portugal Edt (decant)

Boy, I really like the Mem...another great shave with the Mem/superspeed/7 a.m. combination. This is the first time I used the Semogue with a cream and it produced and held a lot of lather. So far, the 7 a.m. works well for me. The Bois du Portugal is a nice change of pace...

    Sunday Shave

    Sunday, November 1, 2009

    Razor: Merkur Futur
    Blade: Astra Superior Platinum
    Brush: Vulfix 2006 Pure Badger
    Soap: Tabac
A/S: Dickinson’s Witch Hazel, followed by Pinaud Bay Rum splash

The Tabac/Futur combo resulted in the usual fine, BBS, shave--very refreshing.

I thought the Witch Hazel was quite appropriate for the morning after Halloween. And the Pinaud Bay Rum provided a fine, fragrant, and comfortable finish.
