I've ended up with two Schick WWII Navy E3 razors. I took out the nicer looking of the two for today's shave. It can't match the mighty E2 but it does come close. And how can you not enjoy shaving with a razor reserved for the sailors who were putting it all on the line? :happy088:

Prep - Shower / Woods Of Windsor Cedar Woods soap / Pre-lather / 3 min steam
    Razor - Gillette Fatboy @4
Blade - Shark Super Stainless (#1)
    Brush - Omega 20106
Soap - Arko / Proraso Green / mental crystals
After - Frozen towel / Alum & WH Mix
    Result - BBS

Back into my second blade trial properly today, having only had one DE shave in the last month. I couldn't drag myself away from the SE's!
I had reservations about including this blade again as I had found it rather mediocre first time out. It tugged badly and it wasn't great after three passes.
It didn't tug today at all but it still seems to have difficultly cleaving through my bristles. It doesn't feel as clean as it should either.
I'll dial it up a bit next time to see if that makes any difference, as I had to buff a few areas to finish off. It's a comfortable result, just not as much a difference as I maybe had hoped for

    OCtober - Trick or TREET
    October 13

Razor - Gillette 1959 Super Speed
    Blade - [IMG] (3)
    Brush - Omega Pro 48
Soap - TSD Lanolin Bay Rum
Post - Cold water, Alum, Nivea Original

Final day for the '59 SS and Treet Silver. I checked the blade and found a couple of very tiny rust spots starting but nothing at all to be concerned about, I think. My routine of drying everything, 91% alcohol dip and leaving on my desk away from the humidity of the bath seems to be working. I'll use the same technique on the other carbons this month.

The Pro 48 and TSD Lanolin again produced a magnificent lather. I seem to have settled into a three soap rotation.....MWF, TSD Lanolin, Tabac. Shave, rinse, repeat. Brush rotation has settled into Omega 10066, Omega Pro 48, Vie-Long 12601. We'll see if that lasts but it's a solid rotation for now. My other soaps on hand are Arko and Proraso Green Tub, both which I like but not the same as my top three. So, I've got a bit of variety if I want. I just don't want right now.

First pass WTG still comfy and smooth. Audible feedback is still there but the reduction seems a tad less than the first day. XTG on the second cleaned everything up nicely but the neck is definitely behind the curve. Third pass ATG followed by G-slide on the neck brought it to DFS and that's all I'm concerned about. Great shave from the Silver on its final day. Since it's the first carbon of the month I'll put it in first place on that list. How does it compare to the New Steel that is leading the stainless side? I think both are equally smooth in their own way. Carbon is its own shave but the results of both are fantastic.

Another TREET for the month. No tricks, and it was good to use the '59 Super Speed for a few consecutive days. Still a great razor. I know why Gillette sold so many of them.

You know I lived four miles from Bush Stadium near Tower Grove Park and never went to the Stadium. Have a lot of Cardinal gear just never went. Cant believe the Cubs are up 2/1. Couldn 't resist and text my friends back there and rubbed it in a little.

We go to Tower Grove quite a bit. Have friends who live there. I also officiated a handfasting in the park a couple of summers ago. As to the Cubs and Cards.....I'm still saying Cards in 5. The Cubs have been tough this year but I think the Cards playoff experience will make a difference.

    TUESDAY
My first shave since last Thursday. :) Plenty of face 'soak' time prior to the shave, and a generous amount of Cade lather made this a smooth, pleasant shave using the vintage C-Mon. Three passes plus some touch-up got me to near-BBS territory. Boy, did I miss this routine! :love055:

60 yo newbie’s intro to traditional shaving. (Week 22 AC*)

OC October - This month I'll introduce myself to OC razors.
    Gillette New LC
    Gillette Goodwill
    Standard Safety Razor OC
    Schick Type C1 OC

    Morning shave
    Hot Shower
    Soap: Arko homemade stick.
(as mentioned by @Bird Lives I took an Arko stick and molded it into an empty, travel-size, push-up deodorant stick. Glued the Arko label onto the outside. Works great for travel!)
    Brush: Omega Pro 48
    Razor: Schick Type C1 OC
    Blade: Schick (China) (1)
    TSD Witch Hazel
    Aftershave: Proraso Green

    10-13-15.JPG

    Two-day growth, three-pass shave.

1st pass - WTG. Little feedback, good reduction.
2nd pass - XTG. Little feedback, better reduction.
3rd pass - ATG. Good feedback, excellent reduction.

Very good shave. Razor/blade very smooth, not extremely close on first two passes but adequate.
3rd pass knocked it out of the park, cleared the bases and I'm smooth all over.

Autumn is my favorite of season of the year. Among the many reasons - the Fall Classic!

Excellent shave this afternoon with this combination. The Boar brush and Bowl are gifts from my wife a few months ago. The Real Shave Co. Cream is very slick, and a little added menthol made for a great lather. The Fine A/S is outstanding. The Omega 10066 Boar brush is probably my best Boar brush. Have a great night.
