    Gents! If I may suggest one of the manliest fragrances ever... Next time you finish your shave, try shoe polish. Nothing manlier smelling than shoe polish.

    Today was a new experience in shaving. This was my first shave with a slant razor. They have always looked a little intimidating to me, but as it turns out, that was unfounded. Probably because I have a lot of experience with wet shaving both single and double edged razors. After a nice shower, I face lathered with VDH Luxury soap and my Semogue 1305. The Merkur 37c, paired with the Merkur Super Platinum blade, did a fine job with two passes and some clean up. It was an effortless shave ending with a near BBS shave. I finished off with the Dickinson's WH and Pinaud Clubman AS. I do not recall any stinging with the after shave. What a nice shave!

    Excellent shave this morning. Haven't used the VDH SS for awhile and was very satisfied with it's performance. The VDH SS is readily available at local drug stores, is very reasonably priced and provides great performance. The scent is meh but, that's why we have after shave lotions and colognes. :D

    Friday:

    Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Deep Clean Gentle Scrub, Crown Co. Supreme Glide Pre-shave Lotion
    Brush: VDH Boar
    Soap: VDH Unscented
    Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC
    Blade: Bic Hi-Chrome Platinum (2)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, ATG
    Post: Cold water splash, Alum, cold water rinse, Dickinson's WH, Lucky Tiger Vanishing Menthol Cream

    How to make a BBS shave still bad:
    Step 1: Catch a trouble spot (my Adam's Apple) with a weeper on the first pass
    Step 2: Catch additional trouble spots (under the chin, a weird spot on my upper lip) on each subsequent pass
    Step 3: Have your normal amount of "Vanishing" ASB decline to absorb or vanish into the face, necessitating using a wet towel to wipe it off.

    Ah, well. Better luck tomorrow.

    Evening Gents! How are you?

    Another extremely close shave today with the R41. BBS without any irritation whatsoever.
    Shave #8 on the Feather, it's holding up very well. This blade continues to be my favourite. I haven't found another one that feels as sharp and smooth.
    TOBS is one of my favourites creams. It whips up an amazing lather and i find the sandalwood scent to be very nice, even though is a bit too strong.
    The Dreamer (EDT) is truly the masterpiece of the Versace house. It smells manly, sophisticated, irresistible and fatal, all at the same time. If you like orientals, look no further!

    My last shave this week, see you on Monday.

    Gerovital facewash;
    Muhle R41 (2013) with Feather blade (8);
    TOBS Sandalwood;
    La Maison du Barbier badger brush;
    WTG, ATG, touch-ups;
    Old Spice Original aftershave;
    Versace Dreamer EDT.

    Second shave with the M10. I decided to stop after two passes WTG, XTG, and I got a SAS. I reopened the neck weeper from yesterday, and I nicked my mole. My face feels nice and cool after using Proraso Green Post Shave.

    Soap: TOBS Jermyn Street
    Brush: Parker synthetic
    Razor: Maggard M10
    Blade: Gillette 7 o'clock sharp edge yellow

    • Prep: shower, Bulldog Original face wash
    • Razor: Cobra Classic
    • Blade: Feather Pro (14)
    • Brush: The BiG Shave 2013 #90/100 by Semogue Portugal
    • Soap: HTGAM Synergy Vanetiver
    • Post: alum, T.N. Dickinson's Witch hazel
    • Aftershave: Floid Blue
    The Feather blades have started to degrade slowly yet gracefully. No tugging, but they started to leave some stubble behind. Time for a fresh blade.

    Soap: Shea Moisture Utility Soap
    Shampoo/Conditioner: Suave For Men 2n1 Ocean Charge

    Shave
    Prep: Hot shower, Application of shave lather followed by hot towel
    Brush: Van Der Hagen Boar
    Lather: Arko Shave Soap (Face lathered)
    Razor: Gillette Old Type
    Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (5)
    Passes: WTG/XTG/ATG/RXTG
    Post: Warm water rinse, Cold water rinse, Alum Block, Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel, Nivea Sensitive Post Shave Balm, Ivy Club Spice Aftershave

    Day 5 with the Silver Blue blade. It was just okay. Definitely dulling, not as sharp as other blades I've tried. But not horrendous. I got this blade in a sampler pack and can honestly say I wouldn't buy more of them. Face lathered some Arko soap today. Nice, thick lather. Big fan of Arko, it's a great soap. I'm sad to report that my beloved VDH Boar has a crack in the handle, not sure exactly why, I never dropped it, maybe it's just the usual wear-n-tear. Hell, I've had it for 2 years. Bought it for $10 at Walgreens, I don't regret a cent of it. It works wonders with soaps. I'm gonna shop around for another boar brush, probably Omega or Semogue (or both). But in the meantime, I'll continue to use the VDH until it gives out completely. The shave today was acceptable. Everything was great...except the blade, which is below average. I'll probably use it one more time then toss it. Finished up with a nice splash of Ivy Club Spice Aftershave. Smelling great.

    Saturday

    Prep: Hot Shower
    Soap: Speick Cream
    Razor: ’66 Gillette Slim “6”
    Blade: Polsilver SI (2)
    Brush: Omega 6192 Badger

    Aftershave: Krampert’s Bay Rum

    WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angle for my beard a bit)

    2nd shave with the Polsilver SI blade in the Slim. The Polsilver and Slim are still friends: smooth, close, nick & burn free shave. I dialed it up from “5” to “6” today. I also tried the Speick Cream for the first time today. As expected, it produced a good easy lather for a comfortable shave. I finished Krampert’s Bay Rum.

    I just can't bring myself around to use my Italian Palmolive Menthol cream yet because it's my last tube, but sooner or later I'll order some more of it. The Lord cream is awesome as well - lots of rich and stable lather with a very nice scent, and although the cooling sensation is not strong, it's still noticeable enough. The L'Oreal Men Expert wash and the Svoboda balm, along with the Barbon aftershave added plenty of additional iciness to make the end of this shave feel great. ;) :D
