PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil

SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse withHumphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Williams Aqua Velva (Spanish Version)

The Palmolive Shave Cream lathered well with Jayaruh #414 Silvertip Badger. Two passes and touch ups with the GEM OC Damaskeene with a Personna GEM SS PTFE gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Lustray Spice After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

The Arko stick lathered beautifully with my Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole synthetic and I really enjoyed the soapy/citronella scent not to mention how comfortable the postshave feeling was. The Prep and the Pinaud Bay Rum aftershave had me feeling and smelling like I stepped out of a 1960s barbershop. What a delightful BBS shave this was!

DE SOTD, OCtober 2nd 2021

Razor: Gillette New long open comb, Canadian variant, Mfg 1930's, nice mid range, light touch gives good results, nice handle.
Blade: Polsilver SI (5) excellent blade, Sharp & Smooth, I will cork this blade on 1 use to smooth it out a little.
Soap: Razorock Irish Country side, mild scent with Exccelentt lather qualities. Excellent protection.
Brush: Yaqi Dandelion 24mm cashmere knot, excellent lather generator, cloud like soft tips, nice scrub + great lather painter.
Pre shave: Brush wash my whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser + a dollop of clear Aloe Vera gel on the cleaned beard area.
Prep: cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups.
Post shave: witch hazel beard area skin cleaning, Pinaud clubman + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizer balm(excellent + scentless)
Results: CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers= excellent shave with my Gillette New OC + Polisilver SI blade.

Project razor-this blade has given me more trouble than any other. I don’t claim to be a honemeister, but I can put a pretty good edge on most blades. This one still isn’t where I want it to be. However, it was finally ready for a try this morning. Not bad, but still work to be done.

Just for reference, the scales are purple heart wood, with an Osage orange wedge. I seem to have better luck with wood than with steel.

I am two shaves in to OCtober, Open Comb Month. For the firs two days, I used my Gem Open Comb Damaskeene razor. Today, I pulled out all the open comb razors I could find (34). I have more than enough to do a new razor a day, so I will.



Among these razors you will find Gillette (Double Ring, Single Ring, OT, New Improved, New Standard, News, Goodwill), AutoStrops, Segals, ProBack, Kampfe Bros, Gems, Tom's Slant (Torqued), TAR (Tom's Adjustable Razor), German Travel Razor, and a number of 3D printed razors.

So, two shaves down and 29 to go.
