Great shave with a new to me razor and an old favorite soap for performance and scent. Topped of with the Prada. Every time I use the Luna Rossa Black, it I think of my friend @Str8on2 and his lovely bride who continue in my thoughts and prayers. Hope all have a great day !

SOTD THURSDAY MORNING, OCTOBER 21, 2021

Today’s shave featured the CV Heljestrand Model 29 4/8. I’m really enjoying these little Swedish 4/8 razors. This particular razor dates from the 1920s, and upholds the brand’s reputation for holding a great edge. Two mug passes followed by som buffing and final flatblading leave my neck very smooth. Flatblading definitely dulls the edge, but I’ve found that my old Swaty barber’s hone with a few drops of Smith’s honing oil restores the edge nicely on all my straights after each shave. The follow-on with the four-sided pasted constroption is icing on the cake.

The Gillette New LC swept through my noggin stubble in two very close and efficient ATG passes leaving me smooth from dome to shoulders. When I was a young man back in the 60’s, and was pursuing my first wife, I used Canoe as my aftershave. These days I suppose it pales in the shadow of more modern scents by Dior, Creed and Tom Ford, but I really like it for sentimental reasons. I lost my girl in 2012 to metastatic cancer. We would have been married for 51 years. I’ve found myself thinking about her since this past Saturday was our anniversary. Thus my use of Canoe this morning.

SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Canoe EdT.

The PSC Caffeinated Shave Cream lathered well with Jayaruh #30 Silvertip Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Gillette Sheraton with an Astra SP Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with PSC Caffeinated After Shave Balm. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Once again I wanted to use a soap that I’ve been neglecting for a long time so Jaco’s Cool As A Cucumber got the call this morning. Its scent is so nice - along with the cucumber there seems to be some lilac, the glycerine formula and the green colour make this soap resemble Colonel Conk Lime a lot but this soap delivers much better lather and skincare. The Hydra Power moisturizer works great as a balm, and the Aqua Velva Musk aftershave smells so nice. (To me) Another awesome three pass BBS shave!

Not sure if the R41GS is truly an open comb razor but it's marketed as such so I'm going with that.
Terrific first shave with my new razor! Three passes, nearly silent alum.

Well, this was not one of my best Throwback Thursday shaves, but it was OK. 0:45 to load the Rocky Mtn. Barbershop cream onto the Maggard brush. Great job at the cheeks/sideburns as usual. The same for North Porcupine, but a cut and two Knicks down South(Porcupine). While I did great on most of Cactus, I missed the same area I often miss down there. (By the way, call me old-school, but I still pronounce that work "off-en"). Stephen Bay Rum A.S. felt nice and fresh, as always. Finished with Pierre Cardin cologne. Ol' Pete did a pretty fine job with this product. Pretty Excellent, thus down a couple from the previous two shaves.

Razor: Razorock 2nd Gen Lupo.72- Mfg 2021> excellent razor clamping blade design, approximately 1- 2/1000 of a inch positive blade exposure, really easy to manipulate over the face and just a joy to use for my beard type. #1 DE razor with a GSB for myself out of my harem of DE razors.
Blade: Gillette silver blue(4) excellent blade, Sharp & smooth with reasonable longevity.
Soap: Razorock Santa Marie del Fiore, Nice Vanilla+ light tobacco scent with excellent lather qualities. Very nice and a nicer scent than their aftershave IMO.
Brush: Yaqi Mountain Lake 2band badger, excellent lather generator, pillow like soft tips, nice scrubber + great lather painter.
Pre shave: Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser + a dollop of clear Aloe Vera gel on the cleaned beard area.
Prep: Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups.
Post shave: Razorock Santa Marie del Fiore AS with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizer lotion balm, scentless.(Excellent)
Results: CCS,DFS,BBs + no irritation + no weepers= Excellent shave with my RR Lupo.72 with a GSB blade.
