XPEC Original~~TSN X LE~~Gillette #44 RFB/Astra SP~~Tom Ford Tuscan Leather*
Pulled out the big guns for today's shave.
XPEC had quite a cult following back in the day, but doesn't seem to garner too much interest these days.
Too bad, because it is one of my very favorite shave creams.
Delivered today by the floppy and uber-soft TSN LE. Between you and me, chemically treated badger tips suck.
If I want this ridiculous softness, I'll use a synthetic.
The RFB with an Astra SP was easy to use and efficient in its stubble removal.
Finished with a newly acquired bottle of Tom Ford Tuscan Leather.

Sunday Shave

Lather: Kiss My Face Fragrance-Free cream
Brush: Ever Ready
Razor: Henson AL13 mild
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue
Post: witch hazel

 

Razor - Fatip olive wood handle Open Comb
Blade - fresh BIC Chrome Platinum
Pre-shave - Proraso Blue (getting to the bottom of that jar)
Soap - Mudder Focker (I smell a bit of mint in this soap)
Brush - Simpson T2 Trafalgar synthetic
Post-shave - Thayers Toner with witch hazel "Lavender" & Proraso AS Balm
After-shave - Pinaud Clubman

Very nice 2 passer WTG & ATG with no cleanup. Nice and close for smooth face! I really like this open comb razor! I warmed the face with HOT washcloth while I pre-heated the scupper with HOT water. I have almost polished the pre-shave cream off in that jar but, I have another! I measured a dab of the shave soap with my tiny spoon and got it perfect ratio of soap/water. I am getting the hang of how much water to soap for the most part. I do have a couple of really thirsty soaps tho that make me work at it.

No cuts, nicks, or weepers and the alum bar was silent. Very pleasant shave!

 

SOTD 10/16/22. Still using the same razor and soap combo as last week: Gillette Red Tip and Strike Gold “Ike”. I plan to use the same combo for the entire month. However, this morning I used some Pete and Pedro preshave oil, my DS Cosmetic brush, and a Voskhod blade. I finished off with the PAA alum block and Nivea Soothing Post Shave Balm. The brush has a bit more backbone than my AoS brush I used last week so the soap whips up a bit better.

Today’s shave was decent. If you want an aggressive shave, try a Voskhod in a Red Tip. I have been using the Red Tip all week and one thing I learned was that it is very “head-heavy” which means you truly can let the razor do all the work and you need to use a light touch. This becomes especially important with a blade like the Voskhod.

Sunday Schick shave, OCtober 16th 2022

Razor : Schick injector adjustable M3- Mfg 1970-72, well built and designed adjustable that works well, it will take all the Schick blades manufactured over the years that other models will not, it is designed also as a unisex razor IMO because of the handle length. Great shave this morning.
Blade : Kai Protouch Proguard modified- A interesting blade that prevents digging in reducing nicks & cuts. The longevity is about 6 decent shaves and then tossed. This blade works well in a AC shavette also, especially when learning how to use a shavette I have found out. Great blade!
Soap : Mitchell's wool fat, nice clean mild scent when dry but comes more alive when wet in the lather is my findings with this classic soap. I Cut a few slivers of soap & press in bowl and with a squeezed damp brush start stirring brush until paste is formed and add a few drops only and stir.......until you get the lather you like 1-2 minutes later for myself. Apply to a wet face works well for myself.
Brush : Yaqi "Barber pole" 24mm 2band badger, excellent lather generator, pillow like soft tips, nice splay scrubber + great lather painter.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG(7) + ATG(8) + pickups(9 settings).
Post shave : Razorock Irish countryside AS with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results :CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers= excellent shave with Schick injector M3 with a modified Kai protouch blade.

The C.O. Bigelow Shave Cream lathered well with the Jayaruh #277 Silvertip Badger brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Gem MMOC and the Personna GEM SS PTFE Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Osage Rub. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

The Parker 78r is, to me, a very fine razor. Easy to use and producing a comfortable efficient result. The Tatra blades are so-so to me, smooth but not to sharp. Maybe it's the razor since it's so mild and comfortable. At any rate, my face is happy. Now go enjoy your day folks.

Razor : Micromatic OC- Mfg 1939-41, mid to upper mid range, built to last and with good technique a person can receive some nice close shaves. I also used a RIGS spline shim for addition testing.
Blade : Gem Personna SS PTFE(7) very sharp, great longevity, smooths out nicely, predictable + safest razor blade to handle IMO.
Soap : Razorock XXX - nice unique clean scent + excellent lather qualities.
Brush : Razorock Plissoft 24mm synthetic, excellent lather generator, cloud like soft tips, great splay scrubber + excellent lather painter. Used this brush a lot when I started traditional wet shaving.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Razorock XXX AS with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results :CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + 1 chin weeper= excellent shave with Gem MMOC with a Gem coated blade.
