SOS: October 2024

Last straight shave for a while. I was back in FL to fight the storm surge from Helene (successfully!) and hadn’t shaved since then as we awaited Milton. Landfall 15 miles from our house. Now headed back down there (I evacuated to DC Monday night) to start the clean-up. As best we can tell from sporadic neighbor reports there was no structural damage but a good bit of collateral damage to our home - fences, awnings, soffit, trees, etc. So, a big win overall but a long climb ahead.

What better time than to indulge in a face freeze before going back to high humidity, no power, no water, and limited cell connection? So, here it is, the SOTD brought to you by the truly effortless Riga Razor that took about two weeks of growth down like it was a walk in the park

SE SOTD, Friday, October 11th 2024

Razor : Yaq Romulus 316 SSP with a Yaqi chippendale 316 SSP handle. Mfg 2023>mild to tame mid range. Excellent machining, finish + design. I receive excellent shaves with the Romulus and my razor blades seem to last a little longer- not sure how but they do. Had a close comfortable stellar shave this morning.
Blade : Kai Captain titian mild (1) sharp and smooth with excellent longevity. Top tier in the AC blade category IMO.
Soap : Yaqi The Green(Master soap creations S.A), I really enjoy the natural scent this soap gives(very addictive scent) + excellent lather qualities.
Brush : Yaqi "Mountain lake" 24mm 2band badger. Excellent lather generator, luxury pillow like soft tips, very nice splay scrubber + great lather painter.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Yaqi The Green splash with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results : or CCS,DFS,BBs + no irritation + no weepers= Had a close comfortable stellar shave this morning with my Yaqi Romulus with a Kai CTM blade.

Cien PURE Fragrance Free Sensitive Bar Soap.
Brush: Wilkinson Sword Synthetic.
Bowl Lather.
Bowl: Tesco's Ceramic 'Cosmo' Side Bowl.
Lather: Nivea Men Originals Shaving Cream.
Blade: Wilkinson Sword Classic. (D1)
Razor: Mühle R41. (2013)
Razor: Cien Men Twin Blade. (Head) - (D2)

Post:
Cold Water Face Rinse./Cold water face wash with brush squeezing's,/Alum Rub./Cold Water Rinse./Nivea Refreshing Toner./Nivea Men Replenishing PSB.

(Face & Head Shave)

A new shave set up to start the weekend. I can't recall the last time that I used the German WS blade which is another good match for the assertive semi-open comb Mühle R41.
The Nivea Men Originals shave cream never fails to provide me with a super protective slick lather leaving a good post shave feel. Superb stuff!

The Cien twin blade disposable provided me with a close comfortable acceptable head shave and like the Gillette guard the swivel head design glides easily wonderfully over the curvature of my precious swede.
Another close comfortable face & head shave with no errors to report.

Finishing the shave off with a few small dollops of Nivea Men Replenishing PSB.

My face & precious swede are feeling smooth and smelling divine.

Razor : Yaqi Mellon head 316 SSP with a Yaqi Chippendale 316SSP handle. Mfg 2023>, mid range. Excellent machining, finish + design. Audio feedback is great for myself + design allows for carrying extra water to the beard area when rinsed. Had a close comfortable stellar shave this morning.
Blade : Personna Red (4) sharp and smooth with excellent longevity. Top tier in my assortment of blades.
Soap : Yaqi The Green, very nice addictive natural forest scent of freshness is the best way for myself to describe this unique scent from Yaqi via "Mastersoap soap creations S.A" + excellent lather qualities.
Brush : Yaqi "Black marble" 24mm Tuxedo knot. Excellent lather generator, cloud like soft tips, nice splay scrubber + excellent lather painter. 1st Yaqi brush I bought 5 years ago and have never looked back on their brand of great brush brand.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
