Main reasons I opted for the FUTUR:
    1. the reviews — overwhelmingly positive for what many consider an 'aggressive' razor
    2. the size — I prefer large razors
    3. the price— at least on the one I purchased ("previously-owned"— the owner felt it was 'too large')
    4. the design — very modern

I have looked at the Progress and had considered it as well. But with all the criteria met from the list above, the Futur was a solid choice. There are Progress owners here so you may wish to get their opinions. Many of the reviews for it have been quite positive.

The Wiss felt pretty good when I test shaved with it along with all the others I had honed the other night but you really can't tell until you can use the razor all by its self, just how good it really is. I must say; this Wiss goes right up to the top of my best straight list. It is extremely smooth and very efficient. An outstanding razor!
I love the Jasmine scented SS and the Royal Copenhagen Musk was a perfect finisher for the Jasmine. Outstanding shave this morning for sure! :happy088:

I love this TOBS Lavender SC. It is so creamy, smooth, and rich. The Parker brush did a good job face-lathering, and two passes and touch-up with the Merkur slant made for a very nice shave. Finished off with the Dickinson's WH and Aqua Velva Ice Blue. Ahhhh!

Starting to get cooler out in my area. I find myself doubling up on moisturizers to prevent my easily chapped skin while trying to stay warm. Pretty decent shave today. I wasn't particularly hairy because of yesterday's shave with the Merkur and Feather blade. One thing about Feather's is they're so sharp that I can actually skip a day of shaving but I choose not to because...ya know...addictions. Face lathered TOBS Sandalwood with the rarely used Omega Syntex. I'm beginning to like this brush more. It's very light and not good for bowl lathering, but when face lathering it's actually quite efficient. I will say I'm not a fan of the white colored knot because it's hard to tell how much cream I've loaded on my brush. I finished up with a nice splash of Clubman VIBR...smells like fall! Have a great evening, folks.

Nice shave, but I don't think the RazoRock makes as nice a lather as Cella or Proraso italian soaps

The fact that I didn't use menthol yesterday gave me an excuse to lay it on thick and cold today. This Ice Mint soap which Irena created has an awesome minty scent which fills the bathroom while you're lathering up and shaving, and its cooling effect is terrific. The Svoboda balm and the Rubby Dubby Doo soothed and froze my face even more. I enjoyed this shave so much. ;) :Animatedfrozensmily:

A bit nippy down in the shave den this morning. Should have put my little soap sample in the microwave to thaw it out. Funny, after using shorter handled razors the last two shaves I caught myself hanging onto the Krona halfway up the handle.

    Prep: FitjarSoap Pre Shave Soap
    Razor: Merkur HD
    Blade: Sputnik (2)
    Brush: Frank Shaving Finest Badger
    Cream: Al’s Shaving Palermo
Aftershave: Captains Choice Cat o’ Nine Tails
    Moisturiser: None needed.

Sputnik is the name of the least respected artist in Norway. Even though his music is loved by thousands, it is also despised by even more. Myself included.
Because of this, the name/word Sputnik does not have a positive cling to it in Casa Norseman. But that changed after this shave.
The Sputnik blade just delivered a stunning performance. My smoothest and the most comfortable shave I've had in a long time. I did not even have to put on a moisturiser.

The cream from Al’s shaving deserves some of the credit. After a few disappointing shaves with this product, I am happy to day that I finally discovered the bomb.
Still not perfect, but kilometres ahead from what I managed to produce before. A slight adjustment from my water/cream ration, and I believe I will hit the jackpot.

The Cat o Nine Tails was a lovely finish with just a tiny little sting to it
