I could have loaded the brush a little more, but the Col. Conk Bay Rum did the job anyhow. The Semogue brush has backbone, but it is soft on the face. Two passes and touch-ups with the Merkur slant left me clean and smooth. Mighty fine shave. Followed up with Dickinson's WH and Pinaud Clubman. Feeling good.

Another straight razor shave with my Wester Bros straight.

Prep: hot shower, TBS Maca Root Face Wash, TBS Maca Root Face Scrub.
Brush: Turkish #6 (first time use.)
Razor: Wester Bros Blue Steel 5/8".
    Soap: MWF.
Post: double cold water rinse, Captain's Choice Lime.

I definitely missed a spot on the right side of my chin. It's going to bother me, but at least I won't have to deal with it til morning. This razor is awesome. It has the perfect feel. I am starting to feel more confident using my left hand on the left side of my face. It makes it a lot easier to get that side of my face. I got a DFS with one pass and a couple touch ups. This was my first time using the #6 Turkish Brush. Stingraysrock graciously PIF'd it to me and I really appreciate it. There is controversy over what the bristles are made out of. I am 99% certain it's boar. Not that I care, but it smelled just like my 1305 when I first used it. So far, so good.

I lathered up the MWF using some of the tips I learned from Mantic. I'm not quite where I want to be with that soap, but it still did the job for now. It was lacking in slickness, but today it wasn't an issue. I missed a spot on my jaw next to my chin. It's going to drive me crazy. I might have to get it lather. I rinsed off and put on some C.C. Lime. That stuff burned like hell, but felt good when the burn subsided. I would say this shave was DFS.

    SOTD 10-22-13

Prep: hot shower, shave secret oil
    Razor: Merkur 34C HD
    Blade: Shark Super Chrome
Cream: TSD Wheat Cream Yves Saint Laurent type
Brush: Art of Shaving pure badger
Shave: 3 passes: WTG, XTG, ATG
Post: cold water splash, Pinaud stypic pencil, Pinaud Clubman aftershave lotion
    Pomade: Murrays Superior

Ok shave, the blade was great on the first pass and deteriorated quickly for me, resulting in some nicks and weepers that will need a few days to heal. However I couldn't help myself so...

    SOTD 10-23-13

    Prep: hot shower
Razor: 1959 Gillette Fatboy set to 3, then 4 on final pass
    Blade: Personna Israeli red
Soap: Van der Hagen Deluxe in vintage Avon mug
Brush: Art of Shaving pure badger
Shave: in shower shave. 4 passes: WTG, XTG, RXTG, ATG.
Post: Aqua Velva Ice Blue splash, followed by Nivea Sensitive Balm with added menthol crystals.
    Pomade: Royal Crown
Cologne: Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male

So..... Now I really need to wait a few days. I'm not shaving again until Saturday night after work. Or maybe Sunday before morning worship. Cuz I just broke open the same nicks with this shave...

Next shave I'm using my spanking new '34 Aristocrat I scored today.

Gonna go Supermax Titanium on the blade, hoping for an excellent shave!

Siir Irish Moos Shaving Soap Stick (in ikea metal box)
    Semogue SOC Cerda
    Edwin Jagger Barley DE89BA11
    Gillette Silver Blue
    Thayers Withch Hazel Peach

Even with this Irish Moos at some time, it is only now that I am truly discover. A protective foam at the same time provides a specimen slide. So that the feeling is magnificent aftershave getting truly moisturizes the skin. Therefore neither had the need to use balm or splash, getting me by Thayers Peach.
It is very unfortunate that this Irish Moos is already discontinued by Mäurer & Wirtz, (the same brand of Tabac) and many confreres forum friends here wish to know. :(

Have a nice weekend my friends.

This brush showed up while I was out of town so I had to try it this morning. Obviously not a STF but a good brush in its own right, very enjoyable to use. Nice shave today. I have 2 more brushes that are new and will try them out in the next few days too. Have a good one.

The best way to describe this shave is brrrrrrrr cold and beautiful thanks to the Egyptian Ingram cream which gives an even stronger menthol punch than the British version. The Gillette balm is very nicely-scented and soothes and moisturizes as well as cools. I don't think the Barbon aftershave needs too much of a describing, other than the fact that I love its scent and wonderful icy skincare. Sorry, no pictures today! ;) :D

Have a great weekend, folks! :)

BBS! Today I had an absolutely perfect shave. No irritation, no cuts, no weepers and my face is as smooth as it could possibly be. My only complaint would be that I just don't like my Parker brush. I keep giving it a try, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to retire it. It's just too scritchy for me. But, with a shave like this, I can't really complain.

My wish for you all today is that you have a shave as great as mine!

    Friday:

Prep: Hot shower, Crown Co. Supreme Glide Pre-shave Lotion
    Brush: VDH Boar
    Soap: Ginger's Garden Oakmoss Glycerin-in-a-jar
    Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC
    Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum (2)
    Passes: WTG, XTG
Post: Cold water splash, Alum, cold water rinse, Dickinson's WH, Nivea for men Energy ASB
Cologne: The Third Man by Caron

My lather was too wet this AM, and I was too stubborn to toss it and start again. As a result, I didn't get enough cushion or glide, and caught my Adam's Apple on the XTG pass. This, in turn, preempted the notion of a 3rd pass while necessitating the alum. I'd rate it a DFS for general closeness otherwise, though.

Prep: Hot Shower-Stirling Ozark Mountain Soap
    Soap: Proraso Sandalwood-Red Tub
    Razor: ’66 Gillette Slim “6”

    Aftershave: Aspen
    Post: Nivea After Shave Balm

WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angle for my beard a bit)

4th shave with the Personna Lab. I brought out the Proraso Sandalwood Red Tub this morning. I had quite a bit of tugging and my shave was not as close as usual. I personally can feel a difference between the Med Prep’ and the Labs. I finished with Aspen Cologne and Nivea AS Balm.

Blade: Derby Extra Stainless Steel (day 1)
    Brush: Wilkinson Sword
    Cream: Musgo Real Classic
    Passes: 3 (WTG, XTG, ATG)
Post: warm then cold water, alum, Proraso blue cream

Something to be said about a fresh blade. Nice and smooth, no nicks or irritation. Good lather and enough for all three passes. Still fighting with the jawline, but it's getting better I think.
So, alum. That's got quite the "tingle" to it. Wow did that sting! It didn't last long but it was enough to wake me up.
Followed everything up with a few drops of the Proraso blue. It had a strong sent at first but seems to be fading, which is good because we have a no sent police at work. It seems to be stopping my face from drying out, which is primary why I got it so I hope the sent fades.
I'm definitely happy with today's shave.

    FRIDAY
    1. Pre: Hot shower & face-towel; Homemade Cedarwood PS Cream
    2. Razor: G.E, Jones Shake Sharp
    3. Blade: Personna Super Lab
    4. Brush: Omega 652 Pure Badger
    5. Lather: RazoRock Cumba Cheech Soap
    6. Shave: 3 pass + touch-up
    7. Post: Cold water rinse; Alum block, Homemade Bay Rum AS & Proraso balm

Once I find the angle (not too difficult), the Shake Sharp provides a noisy and ultra-close shave! It is the smallest razor (i.e. shorter handle) I've used in some time, but it's weight is pretty substantial. Overall, a very nice shave! :)
    Happy Friday!

DFS. Old reliable classic served me well today. The Proraso and Krampert's feels nice on my neck burn from the M10 the other day. I even brought the Crema pre Barba to work in case I feel like re-applying during the day.
