    Dove Men Face Wash
    Speick Shaving Cream
    Jayaruh #119 synthetic
    Gillette Frankenrazor
    Voskhod
    CWR, Asma Alum Block
    T.N. Dickinson's WH
    Speick After Shave

The Speick Shaving Cream face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #119 synthetic brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Gillette Frankenrazor with a Voskhod blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse and alum block, I finished off with T.N. Dickinson's WH and then Speick After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    Thanks Doug,

Tough one this year but going with the Indians as from being from the San Francisco area and routing for the Giants and the cubs knocked them off from the every other year series since 2010. Your pick?

I'm going with the Cubs. No reason, just been a long time. I think they may have better pitching.

Yesterday's shave... It's been several months since I've posted a SOTD. It's also been several months since I've used something other than shaving oil.

Prep: hot shower, Neutrogena Face Wash.
    Brush: none.
    Razor: Gillette Super Speed.
    Blade: Supermax Titanium.
    Cream: Barbasol Original.
Post: cold water rinse, Lucky Tiger Face Tonic.

I don't know how many of these I'll be posting, but this set up wasn't half bad. I was expecting worse. All I did was shave my neck and I got a DFS in one pass.

Tonight's shave. Mostly the same as last time.

Prep: hot shower, Neutrogena face wash.
    Brush: none.
    Razor: Gillette Super Speed.
    Blade: Supermax Titanium.
    Cream: Barbasol Original.
Post: cold water rinse, Lucky Tiger Face Tonic, Myrsol Emulsion.

I did two passes and got BBS... but there was some redness on my throat, so I dug my Myrsol Emulsion out of a box in my closet. It works really well at healing damaged skin and you don't need very much. I've had mine for two and a half years and haven't even used half of the bottle.

It's sad the TSD store closed down :( but the Mickey Lee butter is not bad at all. The consistancy changes a bit if any moisture gets in the tub, goes from a hard butter to a cream texture. Just a small dab is needed so a tub should last a long while. The scents are quite nice but don't interfere with the scent of the soap.

    SHAVE OF THE DAY
    20161026_223520.jpg

    Prep: Musgo Real classic
    Razor: Gillette Redtip
    Blade: Gillette Black
    Brush: Fine Angel Hair Synthetic
    Soap: Clubman/ Derby Menthol
Post: Clubman Vanilla/ Reef Point Intrepid Balm

Had a nice shave this afternoon. Decided to make some superlather and add some Derby cream to the mix, didn't add very much menthol cooling but it did boost the Clubman soap a bit. Ended up with a nice comfortable shave, finished off with Vanilla Clubman and some Intrepid Balm about an hour or so after putting on the aftershave. Hope everyone had a great shave!

That Kringle sure is a weird scent. A Kringle is a pastry similar to a danish, but is a large doughnut shape. This soap smells nothing like Kringle but instead has some strong leather notes to it. Dapper Dragon makes a good soap that everyone should try at least once.

    Grand Blade Trials

    Razor - 1962 (H1) Gillette Slim (2)
    Blade - [IMG] (1)
    Soap - Arko
    Brush - Semogue 620
    Post - Alum

Welcome to India! The Grand Blade Trials move to the Gillette Wilkinson Sword, made in their Indian plant. While the "other" Wilkinson is famed for its sharpness and excellence, this blade has a bit of a tainted reputation if you can believe the chatter around the various forums. Of course, there will be those on both sides of the blade, so to speak, so we'll try to sort it out. The only semi-comparison to make between a Gillette Indian blade vs. the rest of their blades would be the black wrapper Super Platinum vs. the NOS Blue Wrapper. No contest. The blue wins that one easily. At least for me. And others who have stated the same thing. So how will this blade stand up?

Well, I can say that with the lather the Semogue and Arko gave me if there is a problem with the shave it won't be that. The first pass on the mild 2 Slim was actually not too bad. You could hear it working and the reduction was noticeable. Makes me think the blade must be sharp, especially at the end of the second pass. Nice reduction there as well. Still a little off of DFS but not far. The third pass, ATG and Slide, produced a very nice DFS finish. Not a near-BBS but closer to that than the other end of the spectrum. And, the feel of the shave was smooth all the way. No issues or complaints at all. If you like a very mild razor and a blade that will give you a more than passable shave with no issues or irritation, I would recommend this one. It is a platinum coated blade as well.

Tomorrow we'll see how it handles the mid-range of the Slim and see if it stays as good. I wouldn't call this a excellent blade, but definitely very good. Well above average so far.

The best part of travelling to India to shave? The train rides, of course. Who needs the official pushers who help shove people in the Japanese trains when you can just ride wherever you want in India?
