What do you think of that Mickey Lee preshave butter? I still have a ton of TSD preshave balm left but after it runs out, I was thinking of moving on to the preshave butter myself since TSD shop is closing now.

Grand Blade Trials - Day Off for OCtober

    Razor - Fatip Piccolo
    Blade - [IMG] (1)
    Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat
Brush - Wolf Whiskers Custom Silvertip
    Post - Alum

Another OCtober shave and back to the Fatip. And, for a totally different experience, I chose the Astra SP blade in honor of @wristwatchb . I use this blade for my head shave every week but haven't used it on my face in a very long time. It's a great blade so this should be a great shave.

The Wolf and the Fat are best friends in my den and make a fantastic lather. Three passes with the Fatip and Astra SP and wow. Just wow. Smooth shave, the Fatip is hyper-aggressive but with this blade it's just a fine experience. No blood, and the alum is basically quiet other than a spot or two on my neck where I did a bit of touch up. Captured the baby and my face feels great. This is a fantastic combination and if you have the Fatip I'd recommend trying this blade in it.

Time to hop the train and head to India for the resumption of the Grand Blade Trial tomorrow evening. The Wilkinson Sword (India) is up for its turn. Hope you all had a great day!

My buddy, @Karl G ,has been enjoying his str8 shaves a little too much lately....So I caught the fever....
So I broke out this Turkish Sedef....This is the Turkish shavette that EVERY Barber in Turkey uses with a Perma-sharp Super blade.

Many years ago; while in Turkey; I asked my barber in Istanbul where I could buy one, and he pulled this from his apron pocket and presented it to me as a gift. Said it was his favorite, I learned to shave with it, and have always loved it. But as time marches on, I became addicted to SE's and haven't touched it in atleast 3 years...That is until tonight!

As luck would have it, I still have an unopened display of 20 packs of Perma-Sharp Super blades. The kind of display card you would see hanging next to the cash register at a corner market in Istanbul. As you can tell, I haven't used a DE razor more than 3x's in as many years, so these blades have been unopened....And they are my favorite DE blade in the World...This Sedef also works with injector blades, but these Perma-Sharps are the Turkish Barbers' blade of choice.

    Hot whisker rinse
    Arko Shave Stick
    Vintage Stag, badger (Carrington refurb.)
    Sedef/Perma-Sharp Super d1
    Thayer's Original Witch Hazel
    Rebul Lavanda Colonia
    Clubman Original/Special Reserve

I was a little apprehensive about not using this guy in atleast 3 years maybe more like 4+, but it turns out, it's more than alot like riding a bicycle...In 3 passes, I got one of those "Best shaves of your life" kind of moments...:happy108:
I had my Schick Hydro-magic ready for "clean-up", didn't need it...Man! This is so close!
The last pass, I just used the Witch Hazel, and did some ATG in my trouble spots, and a little buffing just here and there....Whew! Really polished up things nicely.

Thanks Karl, for the inspiration! .......Again! See, This isn't the first time that Karl and some of my Denizen buds aswell as fellow Part-goer's ovah at the SE Party thread have inspired moments of greatness....Well at least, I've been reunited with this GREAT Shaver, and with Str8 shaving in general...I'll definitely want this back in my short list for rotation! After all, Str8's are the original SEs...};^))

    Great Shaves Everybody!

Wonderful shave with the PAL Adjustable this morning. Excellent lather from the TFS Ginestra Di Taormina shave soap. Beautiful scent and excellent slickness. This soap is amazing. Three refreshing passes for a dolphin smooth finish. Have a great day friends. :)

    Hallowednesday
Optimal lather again from Hallows, at the behest of my Bronze Shadow brush. The Futur did its job smoothly and without drama. I finished with TABAC Fragrances to see if it would pair with Hallows. I got a bit of a stuffy nose this morning so I don't really know!
    Prep: Myrsol Emulsion
    Soap: B&M Hallows
    Brush: Brothers Bristles Bronze Shadow
    Razor: Futur 6-6
    Blade: voskhod
    AS: Tabac!

    Today's shave
Hot water wash with a pre-lather and a washcloth (time prevented straight shave)
    Parker silvertip
    Bombed Soap Commander Respect
    Ikon Shavecraft 101
    Astra sp (1)
    Iced L&M Florida Water (atomized)
Today's shave was nice. After yesterdays face lift, mild is ok. Time prevented enjoyment of a SR shave. The big parker made a respectful lather (pun). Three passes with the 101 left me right. Finished with iced atomized Florida Water.
Hope y'all did as well, or better. 20161026_074745_resized.jpg 20161026_073013_resized.jpg

Now this was just the kind of shave that I was dying for yesterday, but unfortunately for me I was in too much of a rush. This morning I had more than enough time to really enjoy the Glacial Lemon Chill's awesome freeze. Wowwwwwwwwww, that lather went on rich, slick, and delightful with that lovely lemon scent and the second pass made my eyes tear like crazy. The Lemon Chill witch hazel hit me with even more menthol goodness which made this great shave end on a perfect note! :happy088: :happy088:

    Blade
    : Chinese Schick
    Razor: Schick L1 injector
    Brush: Vulfix 2006c badger
    Lather: Stirling Barbershop
Post: Witch hazel splash, Stirling Barbershop aftershave, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, touch-up

Nice shave again. One spot on my chin and jaw felt a little scraped but I think it's okay now. Probably a little too much pressure there by accident. Stirling continues to work really well. I'm happy to have used it over this month but am also ready to get back to a rotation where I can use more of my soaps and razors. That will start November 1.

Nice shave and I wish you all the same results. Have a great day!
