    Gillette Fusion Proglide Power
    Proglide cartridge (3)
    Barbasol 'Skin Conditioner' shave cream
    Witch Hazel
    Gillette Cool Wave

I now have to admit the Barbasol provides a better shave than the lather I make, the difference is not even subtle. Today's shave was a near BBS, with not a hint of irritation after two passes and touch up. I will have to figure out what I'm missing with my lather mixing. Perhaps the Barbasol provides a better cushion for the five blade fusion. But an expert latherer could provide a cushion just as good. I'm just not there yet. I'm a happy man this morning, enjoying my coffee after an incredible shave. Aces!

    SATURDAY
    Late Morning Shave!

    a. PRE: Hot shower, Shea Face Wash, Homemade Citrus PSO
    b. RAZOR: FaTip with Ikon Bulldog II Handle
    c. BLADE: Voskhod Teflon coated (Day 1)
    d. BRUSH: Whipped Dog Silvertip Badger, 30mm
    e. LATHER: DR Harris Marlborough; Scuttle-warmed
    f. SHAVE: Three passes plus touch-up
g, POST: Cold water rinse, Alum Block, 4711 AS, Shea balm

First time with the Voskhod blades...and probably my last! Despite being a new blade, it felt as though I had used it a dozen times before: snags & tugs throughout the shave. No blood-letting, but a darn uncomfortable shave with the usually comfy FaTip. Got smooth results, but it is unlikely I'll be grabbing another Voskhod soon. Great, warm lather for the DR Harris soap, so at least I have something positive to say about the shave!

Great shave today. The Col. Conk face-lathered very well and provided an exceptional base for the Slim to do its job. Two passes on 5 and a little touch-up left me BBS. I dialed it back on the razor and got better results. I got some Thayers Cucumber WH and today was the first time to use it. I'm not wild about this scent, but it left my face feeling good. Topped that off with Aqua Velva Ice Blue after my clean up. Feeling much better after a great shave.

    • Prep: Warm shower, Homemade Cedarwood PSO
    • Razor: EJ DE89L
    • Blade: Viking Sword
    • Soap: Fitjarsoap Lighthouse (Bay Rum scented)
    • Brush: Vie Long Horse Hair 12705
    • Post: Witch Hazel followed by Nivea Sensitive Post Shave Balm
    • Cologne: British Sterling
The Fitjarsoap and Viking Sword were both PIF'd to me from Norseman. Both proved to be excellent products. The soap has a wonderful, subdued bay rum scent with great slickness. The Viking Sword did and excellent job. This was the first time I have used one of these revered blades and I must say that it lived up to expectations. I shaved 10 hours ago and still have what would pass as a DFS. This morning, it was definitely a BBS.

    Prep: FitjarSoap Pre Shave Soap
    Razor: Merkur HD
    Blade: Astra Super Platinum
    Brush: Proraso Boar
    Soap: Klar Kabinett Stick
    Aftershave: Aspen Aftershave
    Moisturiser: Fitjarsoap Shea Butter Moisturiser.

This evening I wanted to use the Klar Kabinett Shave Stick. I admit that calling it a stick might be a bit of a stretch. But I think it is better than calling it by its true designation, the Klar Kabinett two by four.

The blade choice for this evening was the green Astra blade. A former favourite of mine, and still a very good every-day blade.
I was hoping this would prove to be a very fine combination, but alas it was not.
During the first pass, everything felt fine. The blade was not as smooth as I remembered, but still more than sufficient for the task at hand. The soap smelled pleasantly of roses and I enjoyed the shave. But this enjoyment was short lived, and early in the second pass I felt the burn. This sensation just intensified, and by the end of the third pass it was rather unpleasant.
A few hours later I can still feel it, and I am hoping that it is not a reaction to the soap.
When you have a full kilo, It would be a shame if I have developed an allergy to it.

I'm sorry you didn't have a good shave and for your sake I hope it was not the soap. However, if you think it was, I'd be happy to buy it from you.

Gillette Single Ring loaded with a Gillette Stainless (green). Warm water soak of the no-name badger brush to work with the Mitchell's Wool Fat shaving soap. Finished it all off with Clinique moisturizer as well as British Sterling after shave and cologne. I'm thinking of trying a shim or two with this razor next time...just for fun.

Prep: Hot face scrub, Crown Co. Supreme Glide Preshave Lotion
    Brush: VDH Boar
Soap: Ginger's Garden Coffee Jasmine Glycerin
    Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC
    Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum (1)
    Passes: WTG
Post: Cold water rinse, Dickinson's WH, Pinaud Clubman

I missed my Bic. Even though I'd decided to do just a 1-pass SAS today to give my face a bit of a break, I have no regrets about swapping out that Sputnik. Today's shave was much smoother and more comfortable than the past few days. One pass only gets me a SAS result, but on the plus side, the Clubman produced zero burn since I didn't scrape back and forth across my skin as I otherwise might have.

1st shave with the Gillette 7 O’Clock Black SP in the Slim. Stiriling Scots Pine today. The 1st shave with the Black in the Slim was very good. A smooth, close shave: nick & burn free. I finished with Aqua Velva Musk for a change of pace.

    Pinaud Bay Rum AS :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055:

The best shave of the week for me with one of the finest straight razors ever created - the Dovo Bismarck not only knocks off my tough beard stubble like a hot knife through butter, it's very easy for me to use. If I wasn't so rushed during the work week I'd use it every day. The Culmak soap smells so barbershoppy and nice and its lather is a pleasure to work with. The Anherb conditioner gave me my menthol fix, and the Pinaud Bay Rum aftershave put the finishing touches on this splendid shave. ;) :D
