    • Prep PSC
    • Al's Shaving SC - Bodega (sample)
    • Frank Shaving Mixed Badger/Boar Brush
    • Lord Racer Razor
    • Voskhod Blade (3)
    • Nivea Sensitive ASB
    • Aqua Velva ASL - Musk
I finally got around to a first shave with the Lord Racer. I loaded up the blade and there was some severe binding as I pushed the blade down onto the head piece (always a bad sign). The blade did not center well and one side was clearly more exposed than the other. I was surprised to find that this razor has a seriously large blade gap!! This thing is like a poor man's R41. Super aggressive. I couldn't really get it to shave properly because no matter what I did, there was too much pulling on my whiskers and too much tugging on my skin. I managed to get through the first pass before I swapped out the Racer for my Boots razor (which, strangely enough, is actually a Lord smart). I have one more of these razors, a blue one, so I will see if the blade binding problem is common to this model. The Nivea sensitive provided some welcome relief and the AV Musk left me smelling like a man.

    Cheers, Lyndon

Todays shave! Not bad all! Got 3 days growth in on my Movember Mustache and I'm getting excited!

    Cream- C.O. Bigelow
    Brush- VDH Luxury Badger
    Razor- Schick Krona
Blade- Big Ben Super Stainless (performed quite well to my surprise!)
    Aftershave- Aqua Velva Ice Blue

Pretty smooth!!! Still not use to not shaving my entire face as I whip up entirely too much lather but I guess its all in good fun lol.

    • Prep: Brush soaking in ice water, face washed with Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Anti-Blemish Cleanser, luke warm shower
    • Razor: FaTip Chrome mounted to T2 Handle
    • Blade: Shark Super Stainless
    • Brush: Semogue 620 Boar
    • Soap: Proraso Menthol and Eucalyptus (New Formula)
    • AS: British Sterling
    • Post: Cold Water Rinse, Double Splash of Aftershave
After using the Proraso tub yesterday I had to go another round. After today's use I have sworn off purchasing Proraso (and Bigelow) in the tube, as I find this a far superior product. Now if only the US vendors would bring in the Red and Blue tubs I would be a happy camper.

It took Joe a long time to get the T2 handles back in stock, so after waiting for almost 7 months I decided to give it a whirl with the FaTip Grande head. I had to wrap the post threads with a few twist of teflon tape for a proper fit, but it fits much better in the T2 than it does with any other handles that I have tried.

The FaTip is still a mighty fine razor, although I still find that the Matador and Cadet provide a closer and more comfortable shave.
Finished with the British Sterling, a scent I will always love...just wished it had menthol in it :D

    Hot shower to the day.
Prep the face with Proraso pre- shave soap.
I'm working my way through samples of soap croaps, today's sample was from Cella. This was my first time using Cella, great lather, slick, pleasant scent.
The SS and Chroma duo did another stellar job with just two passes.
Warm rinse, brisk cold water splash, Kanga, and Fitness balm. IMG_0385.JPG

Arley, I find the new version of the Proraso Green cream (I never tried the new Green soap version) to be even colder than the older version, with better lather and skincare. I have the new version of the Proraso White soap and it smells just as nice, it has awesome lather, very soothing skincare, but the menthol effect is not so heavy. If you try to compare the Green to the Lea Menthol cream, it's like comparing a Mercedes to a Volkswagen! :D

    Razor: Long Handle Black Beauty
    Blade: Astra SP
    Brush: Oscar11 Handle w/TGN Grade A
    Pre shave: Proraso
    Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat
A/S: Thayers WH w/aloe, alum, and Iced Sub Zero Milk

As I sit here 13 hours after this mornings shave, I felt I had to post about it. The grade A Badger knot from TGN is unbelievable. It generates great lather with every soap/cream I have tried. I have found myself face lathering with it. I am still loading too much soap as there is plenty left after 3 passes and touch up.

I set the Super Adjustable on 6 and did three passes; XTG twice N-S then S-N and ATG, then some buffing ATG touchup. It was my first BBS shave. I couldn't feel a single whisker of stubble even ATG. Even now I have to rub ATG to feel any.

The stars must have been in alignment. Tomorrow I am going to try the same setup with Tabac and Osage Rub.

Good shave today. My baby 'mo is coming along nicely. Hmm... I don't seem to remember having so many white whiskers, LOL!! Of course the last time I had a moustache was about 20 years ago!

Hope you all have a great day. :)

Hi Brett, I totally agree. I find that the skin care is fantastic and it has a bit of menthol too, which is nice. I am surprised that more people have not tried it.

    Sunday evening:

I finally cleaned up the Aristocrat this afternoon. I think it looks ok. I think it's 50's from what I've found so far.

I have had an extremely busy week & a lack of shaving since Tuesday or Wednesday. I had to use the clippers to get the beard back to shave-able.

Pre Shave: Hot Shower / Proraso Pre SC

Shave Cream: Proraso Red (Sandalwood & Shea Butter)

Shave Brush: Men's Biz Super Badger

Shave Bowl: WCS large bowl (thanks Lyndon)

    Razor: 1950's Gillette Aristocrat

    Razor Blade: Derby Super

Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse / Nivea PSC

    3 x Passes (WTG / XTG / ATG) for a DFS.

I thought the Aristocrat & the Derby did a wonderful job of taming several days of growth. The Aristocrat has a different sound (almost hollow) as it shaves. I think I am going to enjoy the shave(s) this week.

The only down side I have found is it takes longer to the clean this razor than to shave with it ! :p

    Have a sensational Sunday
