    The Special was special this morning, excellent shave. The little 22mm brush is turning into a favorite. I like big brushes as a rule but the 2 best I have are both short lofted Grade A's, one 24mm @ 46mm and the 22mm @ 44mm. On the right is my newest handle, it's still in the rough and needs some polishing. Have a good one.

    Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:

    I think I was mistaken about the Gada Cool Mint cream - it's definitely a Level A on my Menthol Scale. With this stuff, you get everything you need to enjoy - a nice minty/lemony scent with such awesome lather, a great face-freeze, and the camomile soothes and relaxes your skin during and after the shave. The Visal gel is another icy aftershave gel with a lot of skincare, and I think most of us are familiar with the Aqua Velva Ice Blue menthol power. BTW, this was the most enjoyable shave I had all week - I wish every day could be Sunday! ;) :D

    Todays shave was a good one! Almost forgot about the little jewels known as Col. Conk soaps.....somehow they worked their way near the back of my shelf in the midst of my soap rotation! This stuff smells excellent......if I had the choice for two shave soaps I could take with me...Col. Conk and Arko would be the soaps of choice. Excellent scents and the lather blows up!

    Soap- Col. Conk Almond
    Razor- Merkur 34C
    Blade- Crown Super Stainless (a bit tuggy on the first pass but played out nicely through the rest of my shave)
    Brush- Col. Conk 904 Badger
    Aftershave- Pinaud Clubman original

    About 15 minutes after my shave and it STILL smells like the lather is still on my face! Excellent excellent longevity on the scents of these soaps. Usually most soaps I use the scent lingers only about 10 minutes if that and then dissipates to the remnants of my aftershave. But today is different!

    I love the Cadet/Ikon combo; just the right heft and balance. The Pinaud Lime Sec EDC is a very refreshing, sit around and watch the football game type of splash that I am becoming very fond of. :)

    How do you like that Lime Sec? Is it a strong citrusy aroma?

    Razor: Long Handle Black Beauty
    Blade: Astra SP
    Brush: Oscar11 Handle w/TGN Grade A
    Pre shave: Proraso
    Soap: Tabac
    A/S: Thayers WH w/aloe, alum, and Osage Rub

    Again I set the Super Adjustable on 6 and did three passes; XTG twice N-S then S-N and ATG, then some buffing ATG touchup. Another BBS from the Black Beauty. I am going to have to get a short handled version.

    Yes, the Lime Sec has a very strong citrusy aroma when first applied. When I first used it I was a little reluctant as to if I liked it or not. (I thought it might be too strong) however, it's intital strong scent diminishes as it dries down but stays around for 2-3 hours at a mildly refreshing level. It is body heat activated so it will "rise to the occasion" so to speak during activity. It seems the more I use this Cologne the more fond I am with it. (and that says a lot as I wasn't a real big citrus fan to start with) If you like Citrusy scents, this one is sure to please. :)

    Had some busy days. I've just finished transforming half of a vintage writing table into a light box for my son to draw on. He's in his last year on high school and is making a hand drawn film for a project. So a light box was needed.

    Friday:
    Travel King boar brush & Sara-S's home made soap

    Great lather, great smell (Thanx, Sara!)!

    Saturday:
    Travel King boar brush & Vintage Williams
    Rolls Razor
    3-pass shave: DFS++
    Would've been a BBS if only for those stubborn whiskers below the jaw line. But a great shave none the less. Used an old cake mould as a bowl. Lots of ridges to build a lather on! :)

    • Prep: Brush soaking in ice water, face washed with Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Anti-Blemish Cleanser, luke warm shower
    • Razor: Merkur 41R 1904 Open Comb mounted to Alabastron Tortoise Handle
    • Blade: Feather Hi-Stainless
    • Brush: Semogue 820 Boar
    • Soap: Proraso Menthol and Eucalyptus (New Formula)
    • AS: Aqua Velva Classic Ice Blue
    • Post: Cold Water Rinse, Double Splash of Aftershave
    The Merkur 41R is about as mild as a Tech, but when paired with a Feather is just sings across your face. First use of the Alabastron Tortoise Handle, it although somewhat light, the bulb shape feels very good and provides a nice grip in your hand.

    I used the 820 to bowl lather the Proraso today. The lather looked excellent and was very slick between my fingers, but it was slightly dry. I rinsed off the first lather after allowing it so soften my stubble, added some more water, rebuilt the lather and achieved a enough for three passes and touch-ups. I must prefer the Proraso in the tub for face lathering, as I think that it where is really shines.

    I have been a real Aqua Velva kick lately, I just love it. I guess I am an Aqua Velva man.

    Prep;Hot shower and Proarso pre-shave soap.
    Today's Featured Brush; Lu-Jin Badger
    Soap Choice; Mama Bear's Andes Mint {sample}
    Today's Razor; Gillette Superspeed
    Blade Choice; Chroma {day three}
    Post Shave; Kramperts

    Continued with soap samples today, the lather was a bit thin. Due to my error of possibly having too much water. The lather did it's job providing a comfortable shave. The Chroma blade is quickly moving into a top choice blade. No matter what razor it's paired with it delivers a great comfortable shave. It stays sharp through four shaves. Today's shave was an excellent DFS.
    Everyone have a great week ahead.

    Thank you mate, I have to re-clean that little bit of the handle that opens when you close the razor. It was rewarding to bring it back to life. The razor had been sitting boxed in a cabinet at dads place for atleast 2 decades, so would love to know the last time it was used.

    Thanks for the link Arley. Those are very reasonably priced to customize some favorite heads. I have a T2 on order for a Merkur 41R head. The T2 is a match for the handle I had on order from Bob at the time of his passing. I know you had been waiting a long time for it to come back into stock so, I figured I'd better pull the trigger before they disappeared again. I have ordered from Fendrihan before (straight razor scales) and they are a great supplier and were very prompt shippers.
