A very smooth and close three pass BBS shave. Fat Boy and Ladas blade is an excellent combination for great shaves.

I believe so - I am not very good with plants, and this one was already here when we got our house last year...
Thank you Doug - it was a bit of luck to get it like that I must admit ;)

Todays shave wasn't very comfortable. This was the first time using this blade. It looked like the shape was a little distorted near one of the post holes. I looked at another from the same package, it was not like that. I threw out the blade after one and use and will try again with a new one next time. Over all it's a pretty close shave, just not very comfortable. Have a great week everyone.

Excellent 3 passes with a cleanup today after a great Veterans Dinner at the Canadian Legion. My wife and I where treated very well.
One of the problems I'm having with soaps other than Route 66 soaps, is that I'm expecting the same rich, thick, and slick lather that I get from my Route 66 soaps. Just not happening for me. Therefore, I'm focusing on Route 66 soaps for the rest of November.

Once upon a time I shaved with the Gillette Silver Blue blades in a Merkur 23c and a Gillette Slim. I didn’t like it at all because it felt very harsh on my face. Today, I used at Gillette Silver Blue blade in the Gillette Fat Boy and it mowed right through 4 days of growth yielding a marvelous BBS shave devoid of any irritation.

Nice shave earlier today. Soap Commander is really great soap. The post-shave feel for me is terrific. The scent reminds me of my grandfather's hay barn from my early childhood. Great products and nice shave.

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Second shave with the Bic Astor and it had a good first day. I did notice, however, that it wasn't as long lasting a result as I would typically expect. By mid afternoon I was feeling a bit rough but....the mild setting doesn't always allow for longevity. Honestly, most mild shaves I have gotten result in DFS and are better for morning than night shaves that you want to last 24 hours. So, interested to see how long tonight's shave will run through tomorrow once finished.

The Astor is the Stainless blade from Bic, and, as I mentioned yesterday, I am a big fanboy of the Bic Chrome Platinum. I was hoping, and especially after yesterday, that the Astor would be the same. Alas. It's not going to happen. While the first and second passes tonight were quite smooth and it really did a good job on reduction at the mid-range 6, it also left about a half dozen problems. We call them weepers. I didn't feel anything amiss, technique was right on the money, but after the second pass they started popping up. So, I did my usual third pass making sure to avoid any and all pressure, arriving at a near BBS and with the same 6 weepers. All were along the jaw line or on the neck area. Really strange considering the feel. But, something is happening with the blade to cause that. No soap interference, nothing like that or anything else. Just a weeper-fest.

I'll dial it open to 9 tomorrow night and see what happens there. Obviously I'm a bit concerned about a blood-letting but maybe it won't be that bad. And, if the wide open 9 produces no problems I may have to revisit the blade in a different razor just to see if it's consistent in result.

The weekend (for me) has arrived! I'll hopefully get caught up around here a bit and get ready to start in with the Gold Star 800 on Tuesday.
