I decided to try menthol again to see if that was what irritated my neck.
Prep: warm water wash with Burt's Bees
    Cream: Proraso green
    Brush: Parker synthetic
    Razor: Merkur Classic 33c
    Blade: Gillette yellow (4)
Post: Krampert's Finest Bay Rum and Proraso green splash

The lather was a bit watery - Proraso is not as thirsty as Tabac. Result: DFS no irritation. Maybe I'm not sensitive to menthol. I have to say that I think I like Tabac better now. My next step will be to try the slant again and evaluate.

    OC October continues...
Pre: Hot shower & towel, homemade Cedarwood Preshave Cream
    Razor: 2011 Mühle R41 Grande
    Blade: Personna Blue (Day 1)
    Brush: Semogue 830
    Lather: Mem Cream
Shave: Two passes, plus light touch-up
Post: Cold water rinse, Alum block, 4711 AS & Shea butter balm

I used the R41 earlier than usual— most times it gets into the rotation every 4th day or so as it really shaves quite close. I do this to prevent any potential irritation to my über sensitive skin. I last used the R41 on Saturday morn. Sure enough, I got an extremely close shave after only two passes and certain areas on my face are a bit 'tender' to the touch. Some sting along the jawline and throat area with the alum block—a good indicator of skin aggravation. Shea butter does a marvelous job of soothing and moisturizing any tender patches.
    Happy Monday, all!

The consistency of the lather I can create from Sterling is so interesting to me. It is completely different from many of the other tallow soaps I use. It still has great density, protection and slickness, its just different. I'll come up with a better way of describing it at some point...Great shave though! Have a great day all!

Day seven of the federal shut-down and day 7 for the Shark blade. I am hoping that the blade will outlast the shut-down. The TOBS lavender face-lathered very well with the Semogue 1305 (my favorite boar brush). It provided a thick slick cushion for a smooth clean shave. Finished with the Dick's Witch and Aqua Velva. Nice. I am continuing my experiment with hand-stropping of DE blades. It only adds about a minute to my routine, but I think it is making a difference in blade life. I may need a little extra life if this is to outlast the shut-down.

Thanks Bruce. The New Improved is a nice easy shaver. I find it not quite as aggressive as the LC New and more smooth than the Old Type.

The Weber Bulldog handle does all my heavy lifting. I am looking forward to the New Deluxe as well then I will be set for a while.

    - didn't think much of the Merkur blade the first time I tried one so now we're on shave #2 of a five shave test and it's doing a little better. First experience with the LA soap. Great lather without much product or a lot of effort.

Brrrrrrrrrr cold and beautiful again with the Egyptian version of Ingram cream. A small dab on both cheeks buries your face in a mountain of icy lather and the skincare is terrific as well. This Gillette Series balm is also plenty cold and the Barbon aftershave is simply wonderful. I'm in love with these Russian-made Rapira blades. What a great shave! ;) :D

    Prep: Hot Shower
Soap: Proraso White-Green Tea & Oat
    Razor: ’66 Gillette Slim
    Blade: Personna Med Prep (2)

    Aftershave: Old Spice

WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angle for my beard a bit)

6th shave with the Gillette Slim. I set it on “8” today. The Personna Med Prep and the Slim did another great job. One close call on my chin, but still a great shave: closer, nick & burn free. I finished up with Old Spice.

Still alive on “8”, “9” tomorrow.

    Prep: FitjarSoap Pre Shave Soap
    Razor: Merkur HD
    Blade: Ladas (1)
    Brush: Frank Shaving Finest
    Cream: Klar Kabinett
Aftershave: Alum Block. Witch Hazel & Proraso AS Splash
    Moisturiser: Fitjarsoap Shea Butter Moisturiser

Today was an interesting shave. It was unpleasant, but efficient. The Ladas blade in my Merkur HD felt like I was using a very aggressive razor with a less than sharp blade. I have never felt anything like it, and it was very fascinating.
Now a few hours after the shave, I have a very smooth, but slightly burned face J
Needless to say, this blade will not live to see another shave

The Klar Kabinett soap provided a very shave nice with a pleasant scent and creamy consistency. I am almost tempted to get another pound of it (always been a sucker for discontinued items), but I will restrain myself.
