    Wednesday October 9

Prep : shower+Ahava Men facial wash
    Scuttle : Michal Yoresh double-walled
    Brush : Omega Pro 48
Soap : PannaCrema "San Francesco" + Tabac
    Blade : Q-Ball (1) - Israeli Personna
Razor : Gillette English Tech head with the IDF handle
Post : cold water + Tarr lotion and some Floid Genuine after 10 minutes

First time use of the PannaCrema soap, didn't have too much luck with it. I started with a too dry brush and dry soap. Didn't manage to load properly and the lather was too dry and airy, adding water didn't help. My wife left early today so I was alone at home with 2 small kids and in a hurry so I switched to my trusted Tabac soap and...voila, instant creamy lather :) . I'll do some practice tonight with this soap to dial in the water ratio.

Face washed with Nivea for Men Sensitive face wash, then heated with hot cloth.
    Merkur 15C coupled with Viking's Sword (1).
Israeli Lavendor SC whipped with Semogue 1520 boar brush in Steve Woodhead shallow mug.
Traditional 3 pass followed by luke rinse, alum applied for 1 minute, then rinsed off with cold water.
Finished off with Nivea for Men Sensitive asb.

This was a weird shave. And I know why. I was having difficulties getting my angle right with the 15C. So my skin wasn't shaved clean of lather like I'm used to. I'm not that fond of this razor, but given it's OC Week I had to try it. I'll be changing razor tomorrow. The Lavendor cream is a joy, it smells so good and it provides great glide and protection.

Bottomline, it's barely a DFS. On the upside, I got no irritation and the smell of the israeli cream kept me in a good mood :)

    Aramis Stick Deodorant
    Aramis EDT

Even the older version of Proraso Green soap is excellent - lots of rich lather, very cooling and soothing, etc. The Svoboda balm protects sensitive skin from irritation and razor burn so well and it gives a nice menthol sensation. The Penguin is about as freezing-cold as the Rubby Dubby Doo and it actually smells nicer. Great shave today. ;) :D

Amazing shave today! I'm really liking Gillette yellow blades... They have yet to disappoint.
Prep: warm face wash with Burt's Bees Sensitive
    Soap: Tabac
    Brush: Parker synthetic
    Razor: Merkur Classic 33c
Blade: Gillette sharp edge yellow (1)
    AS: Krampert's Finest Bay Rum
    EDT: Tabac

BBS without looking for it. I used a little less water in my lather, and it came out richer than ever. I added a little bit of water after the first pass with great results.
    Have a great Wednesday, friends.

Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Deep Cleaning Gentle Scrub, Crown Shave Co. Supreme Glide Pre-Shave Lotion
    Brush: Beeline Boar
Soap: Ginger's Garden Grapefruit Mint Glycerin-in-a-jar
    Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC
    Blade: Voskhod (1)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, ATG
Post: Cold water rinse, Dickinson's WH, Aveeno Active Naturals ASB
Cologne: Jasmin et Cigarette by ELdO

As I sort of expected, a 3-pass shave the day following a 2-pass shave left me nearly BBS. What I didn't expect was the brand-new and "new to me" Voskhod to produce as much burn as it did. I was compelled to add more shaving soap to my brush between each pass, despite rich lather in the bowl, but it did result in thick, luxurious lather on the face. At least the Aveeno killed most of the razor burn while being sucked up into my pores faster than ever before.

    - My parents are visiting and Old Spice was always a staple in Dad's shaving supplies so today was an Old Spice Day (including deodorant). Shave #3 on the Merkur and we're going downhill fast. Too much work and too many passes made for some minor irritation (hence the alum). I'm going to give it a one shave break and decide whether or not it makes it through the five shave test or if I dump it now. I'm thinking shave #2 was the best I'm going to get from this blade. I'm smooth but I can feel the burn.

    Prep: Hot Shower
    Soap: Stirling Scots Pine
    Razor: ’66 Gillette Slim
    Blade: Personna Med Prep (3)
    Brush: Omega 6192 Badger

    Aftershave: Krampert’s Bay Rum

WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angle for my beard a bit)

7th shave with the Gillette Slim. I finally worked my way up to “9” today. The Personna Med Prep and the Slim went easy on me. I used my trusted Stirling Scots Pine to ensure a good slick, cushioned lather. I had the best shave I have had to date with a DE. No nicks or burn today. I finished up with Krampert’s Bay Rum. My face feels great!

    I survived “9” today.

It has been a while since I have used the R41 in its unadulterated form. There is something to be said of German engineering in both it’s design and function, always elegant and efficient.

Today’s shave was smooth and easy, it does not get much better.

Enjoy your Wodenstag everyone, may your day be a great one.

A great shave...Yesterday I tried out a Fatboy I picked up for a friend and had a terrible shave. I had it set on (5) and felt like I could have shaved again at noon! By this morning, it was almost like I hadn't shaved at all. I'm sure part of that is me getting used to a new razor, but probably also need to crank it up a little. Excellent today though with the OC...Nearly BBS! Have a great day all!

    WEDNESDAY
    EARLY 4:30 am shave!

Pre: Hot shower & towel, homemade Citrus PSO
    Razor: Merkur Futur
    Blade: Feather Stainless (Day 1)
    Brush: Omega Pro 48
    Lather: DR Harris Marlborough soap
Shave: Three passes, plus light touch-up
Post: Cold water rinse, Alum block, 4711 AS & Shea butter balm

My first shave since Monday and I got to try my newly acquired Merkur Futur (chrome finish). This is a hefty razor with a large head!
I do like the size and am very comfortable with bigger razors. Going from a super speed or comparable razor, however, would take some adjustment.
I set the adjustment dial to "3" (the halfway point) and proceeded to get an extremely comfortable close shave! After 3 passes and slight touch up =BBS with no irritation.
My upper lip was easily done as well. I know some users have had some difficulty with the large Futur head under the nose, but I felt quite comfortable nestling the large chrome head against my nose and was rewarded with a very clean, close upper lip shave. The chrome handle is a bit slick when wet, but some alum on the fingers ensured a confident grip throughout the shave.

I am VERY impressed after this first shave with this razor! I can now understand the acclaim the Futur receives from many users.
It's size and modern look may be off-putting to a number of those who prefer a more 'vintage' vibe to their equipment, but I came away with a quite positive impression. I already look forward to using it again tomorrow.

The "Columbus" razor (I call it that due to the figure on the shank) is due for a rescale. I showed my SWMBO the razor when I bought it (at a local antique store for $17.00) and told her I was going to rescale it. She said she really liked the cane handle so I left it alone but, it's been bugging me for over 2 years now and I couldn't stand it anymore. There are some new Hart Steel Cocobolo scales coming by secret currier in a plain brown wrapper and the SWMBO will never notice. lol Old Columbus performed flawlessly and the AV Ice Blue just got better sitting on the cabinet shelf since I last used it. (Gotta use it more often!)
Enjoy your "Hump Day" shaves Gentlemen!
