It is as good as I remember. The Progress at 5 is still milder than my beloved, number one goto, the 2011 R-41.

I venture to guess MOST safety razors will fall into the same 'milder than the 2011 R-41' category, unless of course, you can get your hands on the rare R-42!

Day ten of the federal shutdown and day 10 for the Shark Chrome blade. Although the VDH Luxury soap is not a favorite, it did a good job today. The Semogue 1305 boar is a favorite and did not disappoint. Two passes and some touch-ups with the Gillette New and the Shark super chrome blade left me with a close comfortable shave. Dickinson's WH and Pinaud Clubman left me feeling fine and smelling good. Like the shutdown, this Shark Chrome blade keeps on going. I am rinsing and hand stropping after each shave.

    Hey Kev,

You can remove the base plate from the Futur and put it back together without it. It still holds the blade in place perfectly.

I thought about trying it but lost the nerve. :(

    Prep: FitjarSoap Pre Shave Soap
    Razor: Merkur HD
    Blade: Super-Max Platinum (2)
    Brush: Turkish #6 Boar Brush
    Soap: Mystic Water Coconut
Aftershave: Ogallalla Bay Rum with Sage and Peppercorn
    Moisturizer: Fitjarsoap Shea Butter Moisturizer

A few months ago I purchased a few sample pucks from Mystic Water Soaps, and it did not take long before I understood why it is called Mystic Water, because it is a complete mystery to me how to lather these soaps.
Grated, when test lathering I do get what looks to be workable lather, but whenever I try to use it in during an evening shave, I am proven wrong. Yesterday was no exceptipon. I spent a good amount of time loading the brush, spent an equal amount of time working the lather and after a while it looked like I was onto something.
And I was, sort of. The lather was thin and sickly, but at least it was something.

The brush used was the Turkish “Boar that think it is a horse” brush, and I do not rule out that I might have had better success using a brush without an identity crisis.

It was my second shave with the Super-Max Platinum blade, and after a three pass shave I am happy to report that I achived an unremarkable uneven 5 o’clock shadow.

Who’s to blame? Probably me, but I blame all of the above instead J

It's really quite cooling, especially if you leave it on your face for a couple of minutes.

    Friday:

    Super Speed/Rapira day 5

Tet-a-tet AS Balm :love055: :love055: :smiley freezing: :smiley freezing:
    Aramis Stick Deodorant
    Aramis EDT

This morning I felt a somewhat stronger cooling sensation from the Tet-a-tet cream than I usually do and I really enjoyed this shave. Its matching aftershave balm is even more mentholated and it gives a fantastic post-shave feeling. The Rapira seems to be holding up very well all week and it's still cleaning me up very well. For me, they're definitely the best blades. ;) :D

Have a great weekend, folks! :)

    Prep: Hot Shower
    Soap: Tabac
    Razor: ’66 Gillette Slim
    Blade: Perma-Sharp Super (2)
    Brush: Omega 6192 Badger

    Aftershave: Krampert’s Bay Rum

WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angle for my beard a bit)

I used up my Tabac sample. It lives up to it’s reputation as an easy to work with soap.
2nd shave with the Perma-Sharp Blade. Close, and smooth. I finished with Krampert’s Bay Rum.
