Saturday, after 50-60 kilos on the MTB

Gillette '58 TV / Derby blade
    Rooney Emillion
    Institut Karite soap
DR Harris: Pink + Milk (50/50 premix)
    Le Labo Rose 31 EdP

The IK was nice today. I still don't know whether to call it "lather" or moisturizing cream. That notwithstanding, it's some slick stuff!

I've been experimenting with a small splash bottle of Harris Pink and Milk (new formula) mixed 50/50. So far, I'm liking it. It has a nice consistency, a great fragrance and a pale pink color.

Today (Sat., September 20) I used my Merkur 33c with a Dorco blade. Williams soap and Real Shave Cream (for sensitive skin). I tried my new synthetic Omega brush and it will probably be the LAST time I use it as well as the first - very disappointing. I then finished off using low-alcohol Canoe Aftershave and Canoe Cologne.

  5. Hiya rodd,
So, tryin the old straight and narrow eh? So far I'm maintaining my immunity towards that particular tool, but who knows for how long.

I'm sure you know about that bit of a learning curve, but some new members may not be aware that it can take anywhere from 6-8 shaves before you're considered an expert. I just can't make that type of commitment at this time, although it does seem easy and the shaves are supposed to be good.
    Good luck with that,
    Martin

Oh, there was a tiny bit of good natured sarcasm buried in there somewhere.

  6. Hi buddy,
Nice to see you posting again. I'm guessing things were busier than usual, and hope everything's been good with you.

    Saturday 9/20 . . .

    • [*]Prep: Rite Aid Skin Cleansing Cream & Hot Towel
      [*]Brush: C&E BBB
      [*]Cream: SCS Oakmoss & Lavendula
[*]Razor: 1911 GEM Jr - Lather Catch Style with 2 piece telescopic handle for face & Braun 7526 electric for head
[*]Blade: Ted Pella PTFE Coated SE Blade (shave 4)
[*]Oil Pass: Leisureguy's Last-Pass Shave Oil
[*]A/S: Thayer's Lavender Witch Hazel Toner & AV Ice ASB

[*]Result: A good shave today. Got BBS but with a bit more work on the Oil/Buffing pass. This is shave 4 with the Pella blade and it is beginning to show its age. Gonna give it one more shot tomorrow. I didn't really expect it to last even this long and provide a very nice shave. The GEM felt different today. Kinda felt very light in weight. No blood today.

    4:30 A.M. this morning:

    Ogallala Bay Rum soap
    Omega pure bristle brush
    Geo. Wostenholm & Son spike
    Loom Strop
    Ogallala Bay Rum a/s

3 passes, close to bbs, was half asleep and shave prep wasn't quite up to snuff.

  12. Saturday's late shave:

Normal 1-2 minutes hot towel prep
    Shavemac 22mm silvertip
    Fatboy/ 7oclock super Platinum
    IK SS
    LT Face Tonic
    TGQ 'Leatherneck' EdT

Another excellent whisker whacking experience using that (new to me) blade. My 5th shave ( one blade) with this Gillette product, and I love this thing. I'll be ordering these in quantity, and will maybe review em soon.

The IK..........I can't seem to break the cycle......... been using it every day now for a while. Man, what a nice soap that is.

Wow, these razors really are super! That long handle provides excellent manueverability in the neck area, and I was able top achieve a really close and comfortable shave. I will definitely work this one into the rotation more often.

    Sunday 9/21 . . .

    • [*]Prep: Practically none. Just a quick wipe of the face with a warm wash cloth
      [*]Brush: C&E BBB
      [*]Cream: TSD Tropical Verbena
[*]Razor: 1907 GEM Jr Lather catcher with wood handle
[*]Blade: Ted Pella PTFE coated SE (shave 5)
[*]Oil Pass: Leisureguy's Last-Pass Shave Oil
[*]A/S: Thayer's Rose Petal Witch Hazel Toner

[*]Result: I have had better shaves, closer shaves, more comfortable shaves but not on shave 5 for a blade. I didn't prep properly so that may have added to the not so BBS shave today. The TSD Tropical Verbena made a great lather and offered a refreshing scent first thing in the morning. No blood today either.
