ooooohh man...what started out as a glorious photo op quickly turned to disaster, as I treated myself to the worst shave I've had in a while. Reminded me of my very first DE shave - little pools of blood all over my face. Rough. I'm chalking it up to me being stupid and swapping out way too many variables before achieving competence in my technique. It was my very first time with a BIC blade (should've tried it in a DE first), and the RSC, while delightfully thick and creamy, doesn't actually offer much glide or protection. The brush was new too, but that's a brush, so...yeah. It actually whipped up a really nice thick lather in about zero seconds. Not much backbone, light funk in the beginning, and it probably lost 20 hairs, but none of these gripes really matter when you're dealing with an $8 badger brush. It's a great brush for the money, no doubt about it. For now I'm going to stick to my Voskhods and put these yellow little hellions back in the closet. Oh well...just means tomorrow's shave will be that much better!

Rough shaves suck! Don't give up on the Bic blades though! I will take a Voskhod over the Bic, but in a DE, the Bic blade is pretty good!

Decided to break out some stuff I haven't used in a while and had a great shave. I think I prefer using the single edge micromatic razors, but the old type felt pretty darn good this evening. As much as I like to simplify my gear, I am glad I have a little variety to keep it interesting when I want a change.

Another DE shave. Cold water only, running out of time...

    Merkur 23C/BlueBird#6
    Vie-Long horsehair brush
    Red Line SC
    Mayor Energy Platinum splash

I was very surprised with BBS! But I'm waiting to get some extra time for my straights...

A good shave is always a treat regardless of the razor that provided it.

    Absolutely!
I just wonder of those shaves that we predict to be decent at best, but the becomes stellar BBS! Like when I shave in hotel room, I never chase for BBSness, but a lot of my "shave-and-run"s are BBS or very close to it. More effort for the process, the result will follow?

Very nice, I think it will be ordered soon. I seem to really like the citrus smells.
    Thanks for the review.
