I've noticed that when shaving with straight razors, it really doesn't seem to make a significant difference whether I have one, two or four day growth. Unlike the experience I've had with DE razors where sometimes you need to fight a bit harder with several days growth, most straight blades just mow right through it all with very little resistance. Please note that I have a light beard, so those of you blue-faced, barbed-wire bearded fellows may have a different experience.

    Prep: Warm shower, Cetaphil Lotion
    Razor: Schick Injector Adjustable M2
    Blade: Personna (4)
    Lather: WSP Mahogany Rustic Soap
    Brush: Oscar11 w/ Omega 20248 Knot
    Post: Witch Hazel, Cetaphil Lotion
    Aftershave: Shulton Old Spice

I don't have to work today, so I had a late, leisurely shave. This is my third time using a WSP soap and I really like them. I'm not sure about the mahogany scent, but the performance is first rate. The other two scents I have used, barbershop and lavender, are wonderful in every respect.

I think I'll go for a long motorcycle ride. Have a great day!

After the initial sticker shock of buying a home on the Oregon coast, my buddy who initiated this road trip has now focused within the Portland area and last night decided that we will be spending another day in Portland so he could check out some additional neighborhoods which is fine with me as I like it here and gives me another day to try and get in touch with a cousin of mine who lives 7 miles away in West Linn but her cell phone mailbox is full so will try and reach her at the office this morning.

Went back to using the Tiki this morning which was fantastic as usual but the Medical Prep is getting long on the tooth but it has a another day or two left in it. Realizing after 4 straight days of using the Plisson synthetic that I really like the softness of the tips but I prefer a tad more backbone that the HIS and Grooming Co. brush provide me.

Have a great day gentleman and ladies.

Really what's got me curious is too feel how the hollow ground differs from the wedge type when dealing with the longer growth. Don't know why really, but why not I suppose!

For years all I ever shaved with was an Old Type Gillette head, and I'd often grow-in at least a partial beard, often a full beard, for a few months or years; and the Old Type really does do a great job of mowing down the long whiskers when given the chance. A fresh blade and a little extra beard softening, and it was like cuttin' hay in July! [IMG]

My allergies are making me miserable and I have a really bad stomach ache. I worked 8.5 hours today with an interior designer who is helping my mom's boss move. But I still had a great shave.

I haven't used Gada for awhile and I could kick myself for that. Jeff sent me this cream along with several others about a year ago. The menthol power is about medium to me. The lather and skincare are both really good too. I also went back to my Schick Krona. This razor is still my favorite razor. No nicks, irritation, or razor burn. Since my allergies are killing me, I decided not to use anything too strongly scented and just stopped after I put on witch hazel.

    Dove Men's Face Wash
    Mitchell's Wool Fat Shaving Soap
    Semogue 1305 Boar Brush
    Schick I1
    NOS Gillette Platinum Plus
    CWR, Asma Alum Block
    Thayers Rose Petal WH
    Mennen Skin Bracer AS

Today, I got around to my Schick I1. It has been over a year since I used this wonderful razor. Everything came together like a master symphony, and I enjoyed a fantastic shave. The Mitchell's Wool Fat face-lathered very easily with my Semogue 1305 Boar Brush. Two passes with my Schick I1 and Gillette Platinum Plus blade gave me a close, comfortable, near BBS shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Rose Petal WH and then Mennen Skin Bracer after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed... The I1 is definitely one of those desert island razors. If I could have only one razor, I could live with this one the rest of my life.

Another great, simple shave. Sandalwood and Clubman are an interesting mix. I don't think I'd wear this out in public, but at home I'm enjoying the mix.

I had a decent shave today. The Denver water worked fine and had a good lather as expected with the Cella. Still a little skeptical with the horse, a little scratchy and put it away with a small hole in the middle. Have a good one. Ball game tomorrow.
