Tonight's shave was with a newly acquired, restored, and honed, American Made razor. I had a very smooth, 2 pass shave, that left me BBS. Zero issues, from this small razor. It is a solid performer, that's very maneuverable.

    Razor- Lakeside Cutlery Serial#8761
    Brush- Omega Boar 10098
    Soap- Arko/Sandalwood
Aftershave- Shulton Old Spice. Ship's Flask Decanter.

I like quite a bit. It has a nice scent to it and the value is pretty good too.

    FRIDAY'S SHAVE

    No picture.

    Razor - Edwin Jagger Kelvin
Blade - Gillette Platinum *8th shave
Shave Soap - The Shave Den "unscented"
Aftershave Splash - Giorgio Beverly Hills - Red for men (sample aftershave moist towelette, alcohol based)
Aftershave Balm - Giorgio Beverly Hills - Red for men (sample packet of balm lotion)
Fragrance - Giorgio Beverly Hills - Red for men (sample vial of cologne)

Lately, on Friday I am setting aside the day to sample fragrances that I have in two small fancy shopping bags. I am a fragrance enthusiast, so I'm always hunting stores over the past 2 years for new fragrances, but I cannot always be sure I want to drop major cash on a bottle of fragrance just from a single moment of smelling a strip in a store. I often need more time to put it on my skin and really experience it when I'm ready. I have amassed around 50-60 samples in 2 years and I have to find time to try these out. So, Friday's I'm either off work or telecommuting from home. So, it's a perfect day to test new scents without bothering other people with potentially offending powerhouses.

On Fridays I don't always do a shave because sometimes my skin needs a rest sometimes. So, it works out great that I skip a shave and try a new scent.

So, today I have a "sample pack" that includes aftershave products, as well as a fragrance. So, considering my skin feels up to it, I did a gentle 1-pass & cleanup shave with unscented Shave Den soap and finished the shave with the sample aftershave products.

Here are my thoughts on the scent:

I like it. It opens up with a very typical "80's" scent and I thought I wouldn't like it. If you judge it just on the opening, you'll miss out. I think it has a good character after 30-40 minutes to settle on the skin. I think this scent's ultimate like/dislike ratio will depend on if you are okay with wearing a scent that has a dated scent genre and if your skin agrees with the scent. It's got an almost fougere vibe with an 80's style.

The opening smells like a scent I've smelled a million times, so I almost dismissed it completely. What got me to give it a full wearing was due to the packaging of the sample. They put the sample into a fancy black folded case and they provided an aftershave towlette (alcohol-based, my favorite for that "slap and sting" effect to wake me up) and a post-shave balm with the fragrance sample.

I'm glad I gave it a full wearing as it developed to something that definitely has it's own vibe (and a good one). There is a bit of a 'graphite' note, like pencil lead smells when you are coloring in a large area with a pencil. But I only get that note if I get my nose close to my arm. That same note is in Invasion Barbare from what I remember. I don't consider it objectionable, but it kind of stands out when smelling the spray site on my skin closely.

I'll give this a 3.5 out of 5 stars. It's good. It's not ground-breaking and the opening isn't going to grab a lot of people nowadays as that opening I've smelled what seems like a million times. The dry-down and how it smell on my skin turned out better than the opening and I give it a thumbs up.

    SATURDAY'S SHAVE

Bath Soap - Lucky Girl Boutique's Pure Body Delights "Black Magic" (Scent by Shannon's Soaps)
    Razor - Merkur 45 Bakelite
    Blade - [IMG] *5th Shave
Shave Brush - YAQi R1605-S Synthetic
Razor/Brush Stand Mug Mud's Evolution Pottery
    Pre-shave Oil - Lather & Wood "unscented"
Shave Soap - Citrus Dusk (Vegan soap formulation by Country Club for Men & Scent by Shannon's Soaps)
Aftershave - Citrus Dusk (Aftershave formulation by Country Club for Men & Scent by Shannon's Soaps)
Post-shave Balm - Retseliney Luxury Skin Care Hyaluronic Acid Face Serum
Deodorant - Lucky Girl Boutique's Pure Body Delights "Black Magic" (Scent by Shannon's Soaps)
    Fragrance - Creed Selection Verte

I know the label of this very expensive Creed fragrance is damaged. I had no choice but to order this from France and in shipping, this $300 bottle of fragrance leaked and damaged the label. It is impossible to ship it back. Before ever ordering the big bottle I had already designed and commissioned various custom projects to be made and by the time I got the damaged bottle, the soap cup and soaps and splashes were already made, so there was no turning back. And so, I proudly display my full set despite the imperfection. I think mug made by Mud's Evolution Pottery is amazing. I meant to be using this shaving set more often this summer. Now that it's nearly the Fall I am feeling that I didn't use this nearly enough. I think it will make a fine Fall scent too.

**EDIT - Awesome 3-pass + cleanup shave. No nicks and only the very slightest irritation around my Adam's apple. 9.5 out of 10 shave. The soap really performed well with the pre-shave oil. Great post-shave feel.

I've been admiring your bowl in your last few shots. It really looks nice. Your Stork handle also looks great on your Timeless. Fantastic gear.

Cool 3D printed brush & bowl! I bought my niece a 3D printer for Christmas and she hasn't even used it yet. I think I will try to put her to work making a shave brush handle.

Not yet. I just thought of it. I think my Niece hasn't even setup the printer yet. So, I'm going to have to push my brother to make a space in their upstairs computer/gaming loft for it. Then I will try to find out if there are any 3D models from brushes. I think the printer should be able to make a brush handle, but I'm not sure if it can make a big enough item for a bowl (I doubt it).
