Decided to try out a cheapie today, the 3 pc. Razor from Rapira. Not the greatest in quality but, a very serviceable shave was had and the blade was actually quite good. The La Toja soap stick is a heck of a performer as it gave a very nice slick and protective lather. DFS result in the end, not to shabby at all.
A great evening and shaves to all....

    Stirling SEptember!!!

    September 21

    Razor - Gem Micromatic Clog-Pruf
    Blade - CVS Carbon SE
    Soap - Stirling Glastonbury [IMG]
Brush - 30DC Meet up LE
    Post - Alum

It's Sheep Saturday in Stirling SEptember! Super! Tonight's choice, Glastonbury. If you haven't tried this one I highly recommend it. The scents are Patchouli, Lavender, Oakmoss, Lichen, Frankincense, and Vetiver and Rod's description is a classic.
"...this soap will put you in the middle of a field with a soft, grassy breeze blowing while Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page engage in an epic guitar battle in the background." I couldn't have put it better myself. Seriously, while a couple of those scents may not be your favorite, the blend is pretty doggone awesome. I definitely pick out the Vetiver and the Patchouli doesn't overpower it. Bet you never thought you'd hear me give a review of the notes in a scent did you!

Clog-Pruf is up again with the carbon blade. Smooth and noisy, just the way I like it. With the 30 DC meet up brush the lather was overwhelming in volume. Loved it! Three slick passes for a no-blood finish with just a hint of alum burn. Calling it BBS because baby - it's smooth.

Today was supposed to be the start of the cool down. First day of Fall and we managed near 90 again. Yep. Life in the Lou never fails to stay interesting. Have a fantastic Sunday!

Woke up at 3:00, in the darkest dark.
It had been foreseen rain but it is still dry as an hourglass, but I can pretend it is autumn so I began to use a Nordic soap which reminds me of fog and drizzly rain.

Scent is fantastic to my nose, a vintage fragrance and, mechanically, lathers very well and offers a good post shave to be a vegan soap.

    Saturday SOTN

Oh my goodness... So I know it's SE September, but I picked up a pretty good condition Gillette RFB and had to use it .

An incredibly smooth but efficient shave despite nipping myself trying to go over one of my trouble spots with an extra pass. After only one shave, I think I'm understanding why these are beloved razors. I have another RFB that is pretty beat up but is still pretty smooth (not nearly as smooth as this one of course)... If the future shaves continue to go this way, I may catch myself having it replated or sending it to North Shore for a cool cerakote coating. I may be downsizing my collection if this is true !

Who am I kidding... It's an addiction . Happy shaves all!

    Josh

    SOTD Sunday
This morning I found an old favourite in the Rusty Blade shaving museum, the Carbo Magnetic straight razor. This was one of my first antique store SR finds many years ago and it has never disappointed. The edge on this razor is incredibly sharp and smooth. And guess what -- my blade is still magnetic after almost 100 years.

And for this morning I decide to use Stirling naked and smooth soap and as a post shave I splashed on some Lucky Tiger AS splash followed by some Midnight and Two ASB. For the second time this week I used my new Semogue boar brush. Love this brush.

What a wonderful way to greet a Sunday morning. A perfect shave with a vintage razor. I hope y'all have a great Sunday.
