For today’s shave I grabbed the REX Page I have from the Damn Fine Shave pass-around. I paired it with Subtle Arts Witchcraft.

When the pass-around came to DFS I jumped on it. I like me an aluminum razor and wanted to give this one a try. I had only tried one REX razor previously the Konsul. That did not agree with me and I currently selling it. I paired the Page with a REX blade. I did the first few strokes and thought maybe I hadn’t put the blade in or maybe not correctly as I had removed close to no hair. After another two strokes like that I switched blades over to a Nacet. While now cutting some there was visible stubble being left behind. I did an entire pass with the nacet. While it did shave it left me very stubbly with noticeable patches. I gave up and grabbed from my favorite aluminum in the Guerrilla and the backer blade ended up with a DFS. I am just figuring that REX razors are just not for my face. I know others really love them. I will move this along to the next person. Thanks for the opportunity to give this a try.

Subtle Arts has an amazing base! Thick, rich, thirsty lather! It’s slick as all and Witchcraft is the perfect fall scent! And Joe’s aftershave always give me the bite at first that I really, really love and only get from menthol unless it’s a Subtle Arts splash. Woo hoo! Excellent stuff!

I’m disappointed in my faces refusal to cooperate with REX razors. But very happy with how my skin feels and how I smell! Have a great week and shave on!

The Williams Mug Shave Soap was face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #454 Two-band Badger
Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Gem Contour and the Personna GEM SS PTFE Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Humphrey's Witch Hazel and Lustray Spice After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

 

Interesting patina on the razor. 1930'ish maybe?

There are still some creams that I enjoy using and the Palmolive Menthol is one of them. I LOVE its minty scent, it’s such a pleasure to lather, the menthol sensation is pretty damned strong, and it leaves my skin relaxed, refreshed, as well as very comfortable. The Gold Bond moisturizer works great as a balm, and the Alt Innsbruck aftershave has such a beautiful old school European scent as well as a strong menthol kick. The Crystal blade is a bit too dull now but it gave me one last hoorah with an awesome three pass BBS shave that was lots of fun!

Wow proper antique then. I saw one on the bay with the same pipe mark, listed as 1930s.
