    Great shave today!

Used wee wifey's EJ De87 as my brother has 'borrowed' my DE89L, one shim and a BIC Chrome blade
    EJ super badger medium
    Ingrams's shave cream
Cold water rinse followed by the wonderful......
    Barbershop Bay Rum
    Astral cream (a tiny smear)

The shim was a real upgrade which meant I didn't have to do too many touch ups while seeking that BBS result reducing irritation dramatically.

This brush is a little on the floppy side for face lathering in my opinion but still made a good job and the Ingrams was a great as ever. I always look forward to the cold water rinse after the mentholated cream as it is so very refreshing but the real story today was the Barbershop Bay Rum that postie delivered. Made by a chap on a UK based shaving forum, it is all natural ingredients infused in dark rum for 6 weeks and boy is it good. I had no prior experience of Bay Rum so was really looking forward to this. A quite shallow burn with a rich spicy and exotic clove scent, it worked wonders on my skin. The light burn left me quickly, a gentle spicy aroma was left and that was it. No irritation, no stickiness, no artificial chemical edge, this stuff just goes on and does it job with no fuss. My skin felt as as skin should be and so very smooth. I even ran it through my hair! Revelatory juice and as its only made in small batches, I very quickly ordered another bottle which just about says it all. The tiniest smear of cream, purely out of habit, completed the experienced but I've been sneaking up to the bathroom every so often just to get a whiff ff the Bay Rum. The scent doesn't linger but then that is what a cologne is for.

I finally killed my injector blade. A bit of tugging but not too bad. It definitely won't make another shave. My box of TSD goodies I ordered got here and a nice little surprise that the COTQ & SOTQ were in there. Of course I had to try my new stuff and I absolutely love this scent. I almost didn't want to put any AS on but I knew with a rough shave I had to do something. Slapped on some Clubman, felt the burn, and smelt the container one more time. Well done my liege!

Brad, I was told that the Derby Menthol cream is not too cooling. How do you find it?

    Good morning!

My Tuesday shave was pure Bliss, finally again a Moment of Zen!
Yesterday’s shave I had classified as “ok lah” (as we say here in Singapore; fine but nothing special). In fact, I did not realise until this morning’s shave how bad I had felt yesterday still from Sunday’s shave with the Cadet & the Feather (whatever the reason was); my facial skin was still sore as hell yesterday which of course affected how I felt about that particular shave.

Not so today and it was just nice:

Martin de Candre “Savon Vetyver” for the face wash
    Musgo Real pre-shave oil
    Calani Cadre Noir shave soap
Mühle Basic Nr. 02 shave brush, Silver Tip Fibre
    Merkur 12C open comb
    KAI blade (2.)
    Bloc Osma Alum
    Musgo Real Classic after shave

Wishing all of you a splendid day ahead!

    • 3P pre-shave cream
    • Tabac soap (in Parks Canada mug)
    • Omega Pro 48 boar hair brush
    • GEM Micromatic SE (1929), open comb
    • TSD GEM blade (2nd shave)
    • Vifrex AS gel
    • Proraso AS lotion
Still learning to use the Micromatic but I really like it. And there's something about the GEM blade that appeals to me too. I have annoyingly stiff whiskers and I think the strong, rigid blade tends to work very well. I did a two pass shave with some touch ups for a DFS. The Vifrex was great. Very soothing and left me chillin'. I even "bombed" the Proraso for that ultimate face freeze. Whoa!

    Cheers, Lyndon

Face Wash: Nivea Moisturizing Face Wash
Pre-Shave Lather: La Toja Shave Stick
    Pre-Shave Oil: T&H Ultimate Comfort Pre-Shave Oil
Shave Lather: Mystic Water - Rosalimone Shave Soap
    Razor: Gillette Super Adjustable (9)
    Blade: Personna Super (3)
    Brush: Vulfix 660S Medium
Post: Witch Hazel/Rum/Aloe/Glycern mixture followed by Nivea Arctic Freeze ASB

I'm starting to use the La Toja stick as as pre-lather so I can figure it out better. I hear a lot of folks say it's great but so far, for me, it hasn't been worth keeping in my rotation. I'll use it for a week or so and see what I think after that. Doing this with my IK sample allowed me to finally learn to get fantastic lather.

I was well over due for a MW shave and I was rewarded with the famous, luscious MW lather. I've got a few more shaves with this Rosalimone sample I have and I'd like to finish it up soon and move to an MW scent that's more appropriate for fall and winter, such as the sandalwood.

Third day of using the Personna Super in my Gillette Super Adjustable. I've tried settings of 4, 6 & 9 and 9 seems to be the magic number, though more testing is required.

In the end I had a fantastic BBS shave, something that has been missing of late as I was testing Laser blades.

    Razor: Parker 22R
    Blade Astra
    Soap: Williams/Omega mix
    Brush: TBS

Tried something a bit different. I went with a 50/50 Williams/Omega mix. Wasn't bad. Didn't have too much time to really reflect on it as I was getting ready for work. Overall good DFS,

This would have been a perfect set-up for a Menthol Monday Shave but I decided to go with it today. The Sharp blade performed very well by cleaning me up, and getting me BBS. My new Omega Silver Handle brush will soon be broken in - it already whips up very good lather! ;) :D

Here's another of my ebay purchases from last week. I ended up spending about $90 on 4 razors, this was the most expensive ($27). Looked like "good" rust on this one so I thought I'd take a chance. I'm delighted at the way it turned out. Great shave this morning, got this one dialed in the first time around. Very smooth and close shave. For those of you who haven't tried TFS hard shaving soap, it's an excellent soap, IMO. Have a good one.

    Pinaud Lime Sec EDC

The Lime Sec is starting to win me over. At first it was very different to most of the ASL/Colognes I normally use and it took a few uses to get over that "too different" feeling. I am starting to get used to it having it's own personality which bodes well with a clean fresh scent rather than the heavy musky scent I normally use. I guess it's like an orchestra; every single instrument has it OWN notes to play.
The Polsilver is on it's thrid usage and I'm thinking it's about at it's end (probably 4 uses) it's still smooth and comfortable but IMHO it's losing it's edge a bit.
