This will be my first shave with my new to me Gillette open comb razor and the first use of a DE in more than a month. This is one of 3 OC razors I'll be using during OCtober focus.
It will also be the first use of my late 50's Old Spice mug as well.

I used the Futur on six again and proved my theory that yesterday's tenderness was due to less than 24 hours between shaves. I did dial down to five for the last pass and it went very smoothly. It wasn't quite as close as with Voskhod, so I'll keep it on six for all passes tomorrow.
Tabac performed great as usual, and I finished up with B&M Fougère Classique splash. I used Wet Shaving Products pre shave oil again, and it seems to be a solid product.

Don't to situations out of my control...I couldn't shave for a couple days...So I didn't really have time today, but enough is enough...I had to hurry, I hate to rush a shave but no choice

I am doing a 30 day focus with the Fat Boy. I have had it for about 2 years now and don't use it much, the Slim Adjustable being my preferred razor. I have heard that the gap on the Fat Boy is greater than that on the slim, so I will start with it set to 5 and work up or down until I find my perfect setting.

I have also been extremely curious about exactly how long a jar of MDC will last for me. After doing 2 back-to-back 30 day focuses, there seemed so little MDC used that I was amazed. So, I grabbed a container and put in 20 grams of MDC, which is 1/10th of a jar of MDC. If the amount of MDC left get too low, I will add another 20 grams and continue. I will weigh the container and divide by the number of days I have used it, thereby giving me how much I use per day.

Very nice shave. Smooth. no cuts, nicks, weepers, or irritation. The fat boy seems like it needs to have the gap raised. It feels like my Slim Adjustable on 6, but I will give it at least another day before I move it.

 

Except for a small cut on my chin a pretty darned good shave. The cut was my fault because I went too fast and I wasn't paying enough attention, so I got bitten. Brian's Frostbite soap delivered a hell of a good freeze and his matching aftershave really completed the iciness beautifully. Before that, the Intesa Glacial lotion gave me some good refreshing. Tomorrow I'll be much more careful!

As much as I love the lather, protection, and scent of the One-X, it couldn't save today's shave from a blade that died. The Bolzano was doing more scraping than cutting by the second pass, so I had to settle for a slightly irritated close shave - not at DFS level, and not comfortable enough for CCS - in two passes. Tomorrow is another day.
