    Sunday:

Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Invigorating Face Cleanser, TSD Jasmine Sambac Preshave balm
    Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger
    Soap: Ginger's Garden Coffee Jasmine
    Razor: FaTip Piccolo OC
    Blade: Bolzano Superinox (1)
    Passes: WTG, XTG (1, 2)
Post: Cold water splash, Bloc Osma Alum, Dickinson's WH, Pinaud Clubman AS splash
Cologne: Le 3e Homme de Caron by Caron

My head cold is headed into my chest, so I was too busy coughing to shave yesterday. It was nice to give the Ginger's Garden Coffee Jasmine another spin, as it felt like it had been too long; it always produces such good, rich, protective lather. Considering I'm not 100%, and considering I used my aggressive razor, I think a 2-pass, DFS+ shave with no bloodshed or irritation counts as a win for the day.

Well, my shave was excellent but again these Sharp blades tend to get dull to the point where they must be changed after 7 shaves. Man, I love this De Vergulde Hand soap - its scent is classy and traditional, as well as exotic. It also has wonderful, easy-to-create lather, and the skincare is very good. It might be a cheap soap but as I've said, it's been around for over 450 years so I'd say the company must be doing something right.

    erste Rasur mit dem Vorschlaghammer
Today was my first shave with the Merkur 39c. My last shaves with a Merkur slant were about a year ago, after I bought a 37c in newbie zeal and hubris. What a difference one year worth of technique makes! The shave was smooth and easy even as I searched for the proper angle. I used three passes today, but I think I might be able to get a great shave from two after I get used to the angle. I was careful to use no pressure and go slowly. I got some great shaves from my 37c, but also some terrible ones. I sold it as much to please my wife as anything. She had such sad looks on her face seeing my ingrown-ridden neck and red face.
I liked the longer handle immediately, and the extra weight is nice, though it's not the heaviest razor I've used. I think the heft makes it a bit easier to reduce pressure.

Prep: Proraso Green Crema Pre Barba
    Soap: B&M Lavanille
    Brush: HIS Lather Monster
    Razor: Vorschlaghammer
    Blade: Personna lab blue (1)
    AS: HTGAM Bay Rum Tonic

    Sunday 10/05/14

    Prep: Nutregena face cleanser
    Oil: Shave Secret
Brush: 20mm Whipped dog set deep
    Scuttle: Georgetown Pottery
Razors: 2 passes with my 3/8 wedge straight, finishing pass with Gillette new open comb (long)
    Blade: Ladas
    soap: LPL
    Alum: Sprayed on
    Witch Hazel: Generic Lilac scented

I pulled out the straight and stropped a few times before showing my daughter how to use a straight again. She recently won a pif from @cubancigar2000 of some Trumper's coconut soap in a wooden bowl and is planning her first straight shave for later tonight or tomorrow. I will let you know if an ambulance was necessary due to blood loss.

I picked up a slightly used tub of LPL after trying a sample last week. I really like it for the slickness and the moisturizing affects on my skin. I still don't have the technique for making a lather perfected, but I will with a few more tries. Overall, I rate LPL up there with the best.

2 passes with the straight and a finishing pass with the open comb produced a close and comfortable shave.
